An idea for a new video, maybe on some Urban Exploration in Belarus would be cool, similar to Mr. Bald visiting abandoned villages/towns in rural Russia :)
I’d love to visit Belarus. I have been fascinated with all things Russian and from the Soviet since I was a child. I finally visited Russia in 2018. Turns out that I have Russian roots. I had no idea!
Checking you out from Bald, must say I mis-characterised you after the directional loss finding the abandoned pioneer camp, had you as the type firmly rooted in cities, non-explorer type, but I watched you vid on how you got to Belarus etc and a few others and good stuff. I live in Romania by choice, things that attracted me here, been here 4 years, I don't vlog as such but enjoy my exploring and capturing stuff and many things about Eastern Europe that are in my heart,...I've booked ticket to Belarus later in the year for 2 weeks, will check out the market if its open in colder months and catch up for a beer would be awesome.
Duuuuude I am an american 'euro-mutt" you could say. My grandfather was belarusian and my aunt looks extremely russian and so do I. I just wanted to say that I REALLY appreciate you giving the world these videos, you are showing me a country that I feel in my soul and hold near to my heart, even though I knew absolutely nothing about belarus before watching your videos. thank you so much :*) your appreciation for the beauty of this place validates something deep in my soul. Thank YOU!!!!!!
I went to that market when I was in Minsk. Fun place. Basically every large city in the old eastern states have a market like this. Avoid the one outside of Sofia though. Kind of a scary place lol.
I love Soviet militaria. Iv'e quite a bit of it. I'd have been jostling you over the badges. I suppose you already own the order of the red banner. But every one is worth a further look. Low numbers are treasure. Lipped pressings and other oddities can mean the difference between 2 figure numbers & 4 or 5 figure numbers in value. I'd have been there all day & skint at the end of it.
This looks like a really cool place! One of the things I love about Eastern Europe is all these huge markets full of crazy stuff. Been to a bunch of them in Ukraine. I'll have to check this place out eventually when I make it to Belarus.
I came here after seeing you chatting to Mister Bald. People all over the world love flea markets and car boot sales, but you went round so fast we didn't really get a chance to browse! you could certainly go to more flea markets, but not so fast. I think people also like knowing the price of things, well I know I do. I don't know what camera you're filming this on, I'm guessing a phone on a selfie stick. There seemed to be times you were talking and we couldn't hear. I think Bald's point was very true, film what you are interested in. I've liked and subscribed. Dos vadanya.
Spasibo Fraser. I use a GoPro 7 camera. I used to use a mobile phone camera. Many thanks for the comment and suggestions. I will take them on board. You guys are what makes this channel. I am still learning having only started this project in early August. It's a learning process and it takes time. Dosvadanya brat.
Irish Partizan I would agree with this critique of slowing down just a bit, & giving us a bit more of a look. Also, is it possible to add English subtitles for the conversations you’re having w/ the locals? I don’t know, maybe that’s a lot more work, but I for one am very curious as to what’s being said 😉. I also subscribed to your channel, & found you via your interview w/ Mr Bald. Enjoying your videos.
Very interesting ideea to visit a post-soviet flea market but you went round too fast, we couldnt see much. You could pay more attention to the antiques stands in the market. Especially those with old soviet badges, medals and decorations. Soviet Union and the other comunist countries too, had a great culture of badges. Nearly every institution and domain of activity had his own badges, pioneers badges especially are very interesting.
I have seen a few videos from Belorus and what I notice, the streets are clean and tidy. No rubbish no litter no cigarette butts and beer cans etc. These fleamarkets are usually hotspots of littering. Yet, here I see neat pleaces. I love these markets where they have local products, lot of rusty second hand bargain stuff, cold war relics etc. garage sales style with very flexible pricing :)
Hi Daniel, 3 belorussian rubles ~ 1€ i.e Misha badge = 1€ , gloves which he bought ~3€ and so on

Btw, there will not be any rockets at that market :D The funnest thing I saw in a store in Belarus was shotguns. Ukraine is where you buy the cool military stuff on random fleamarkets. A friend got 200 bakelite 30 round mags for AK47:s last time he was there. Bribe a cop for a permit and get the AK47 in Ukraine :V
Ooo that tank clock at 2:09 is very nice, I suspect some of my Soviet collection heralded from prob this place originally, I am on the hunt for a Chaika Stadium NOS case as mine is scratched too deeply, a stem for an original Sturmanskie Gagarin and a Poljot fish-eye Olympic 80 as I also collect Soviet Olympic watches too. Bit of a Soviet nut with my ex Soviet fleet ensign on my wall and a large large collection of Vostok's and other brands.
Haha just had to get the mat. Interested to know since you have been there for so long, are you still renting an apartment or did you commit to buying one?
12:01 a lot of nice medals the medal for the defense of Moscow, medal for the defense of Leningrad, medal for combat merit, order of the red star and he even has a German iron cross
@shutup Most of the medals I listed above aren't really that expensive in the first place the most expensive one (order of the red star) would probably go for (without its documents because the ones in the video didn't seem to have documents) 50-60 dollars max. The more expensive ones are the order of lenin, order of the red banner, order of suvorov, order of kutuzov etc. maybe If you found medals/orders like those in a flea market like this you would be able to make a profit worth your investment.
I love a good market ! I want to go travel to these countrys ..i have a daughter with and russian woman and a son with a lituwana woman need to learn russian language properly ..enjoy your travels .i have many irish friends also .one love everybody from london uk

I don't know if you are aware of this but most of the countries that fell under the former "iron curtain"(soviet block) have a lot of huge flea markets like this😅
Hey do you mind explaining how the gun laws are in Belarus. I was able to find a little bit online but would like to hear what you know about it. Much thanks.
You didn't find my glucometer there, did you - it was stolen on the No. 5 tram in Odessa in 2013 (it probably actually landed up in Privoz flea market, if you know that)?

It's in the pipeline.
Do you have video at war museum?
Try to focus & zoom the camera in the stuff so we can see it clear
Subtitles wouldn't be a bad idea at all. I've got a hunch that most people watching this video don't understand Russian.
Greetings from Ireland, fair play to you for taking a risk and building a new life in such an interesting place

Hi. You live in USA? You never don't was in Belarus?
Americans are euros and euromutts, the rest are temporary workers who need deportation.
Awesome you appreciate the little things. Treasures can even be found in Minsk. Well done.
I like this fella, very entertaining, just wish you could have gotten a closer view of the tables.
Who doesn't love a Belarus mat for your home!
In the States we call this a Flea Market or Swap Meet.

Lots like the Flea Market in San Jose, California.

Some of those medals are Chernobyl liquidator medals. You should have bought one of them.
You bought a pioneer badge. Komsomol badge was the shape of a star.
no it wasn't Komsomol had a red flag and pioneer badge was a form of a star.
What is on sale in these markets is very very interesting , much better than modern apartment stores and supermarkets .
In romania we have this too, it's called "obor". Awsome place where you can find almost anything
We have it as well and call it "a market". Doesn't like every country have a market?
