- After visiting Belval I decided to cross another border, this time into France to spend some time at Thionville which is on the main line between Metz and Luxembourg. As well as a freight yard, it also boasts a surviving operational roundhouse and depot with many locos stabled around and doing small shunts here and there. Most of the freight through here has come from (or at least passed through) Bettembourg Yard in Luxembourg and is going towards nearby Woippy yard, back into Belgium via Longwy or heading towards Metz or Strasbourg. Was also a nice surprise to see some Y8000 shunters moving about, as well as a TGV that passed twice on a Paris to Luxembourg round trip. I would've liked to have stayed later but I needed to get off back to my hotel which was all the way back up in Antwerp! Also, this now takes the record for the furthest place I've ever travelled to from home on my own for trains, being 444 miles (715km) from my house! I hope you enjoy the video and feel free to comment down below!
