  • This episode of the series “Louisiana Legends” from 1985 features an interview with Cleanth Brooks conducted by Gus Weill. Brooks, a former LSU professor, is a famous literary critic. He served as a co-editor of the “Southern Review” with Robert Penn Warren from 1935-1942. Brooks discusses: the lifespan of the “Southern Review” from its creation in 1935 to its last issue in 1942; the Baton Rouge literary community during the Great Depression; his interactions with authors Robert Penn Warren, Katherine Ann Porter, and Eudora Welty; and the importance of literacy.
