      The people who qualify for forgiveness are poor. You’d rather them pay sally Mae, a billion dollar company who will keep the profits and find ways not to pay taxes, who preys on 17 year olds, than them take that money and invest it into their communities. Also, even if it passed, you wouldn’t pay anything extra. It’s not like your taxes would increase. You’re mad because someone said to be.

      I bought my 3rd apartment complex this year. The way I bought it classified for tax cuts. Your taxes went to my property that you’ll never see profit for. You had an opportunity to help the people in your own community, allowing them to put some of their cash flow back into local businesses than off to $25Billion dollar tax avoiding sallie Mae, and at no extra cost to yourself. And you chose not to because fox told you not to. I made $22k/yr as a 20 year old, 100k/yr at 25, and now I’m 32. Sometimes I come to these comment sections to see how people react to stories like this and I just can’t for the life of me understand why you all continually choose to keep hurting the middle class. If anything, it makes me feel better about keeping most of my money in my family, because otherwise, it’s destination (decided by you all) would go happily to sallie Mae instead of back to the middle class. The system might be rigged in my favor, but I’m shocked you guys keep it that way.

    My sister and i went to college on grants, scholarships and worked ourcway through school because we didnt want to pay high debt once we graduated. We went to school longer but had less than $5000 to pay off once we graduated. We were so happy to pay off the amount we did. I know people who had over $50,000 in loans and are still paying for their college loans. This was over 25 years ago!

    "Did you purposely mislead people?" No, the people with student loan debt misled themselves. First, they misled themselves about how to pay for college. Then they misled themselves about which college to go to and what discipline to study. Lastly, they misled themselves about whether they were obligated to pay back what they borrowed.

      All you say is true, yet President Biden still did mislead people. There’s no way that the White House believed that this plan was going to pass Constitutional muster. As Judge Pirro said, this was an election year gimmick, which is why it suddenly became a priority in August of 2022 when it looked like a Red Wave was brewing. What’s more, student loan “forgiveness” will continue to be an election issue for 2024; bribery is the only way to get millennials and Gen Zers excited about Biden…

    • @valstewart6661
      @valstewart6661 ปีที่แล้ว

      . You are both right IMO. Joe knew he was overstepping and he used this as a ploy to get votes for Democrats.
      The Republicans knew what would happen, but Joe is laying the blame on Republicans instead of owning up that it was unconstitutional. After 50+ years in Washington, Joe knew that only Congress could approve the spending of federal funds.
      The students mislead themselves by entering into a contract that they failed to see that the terms were disastrous, and then felt entitled to saddle taxpayers with their burden.
      They were warned in every comment section on social media that it wouldn't stand up in court, but in their arrogance, they believed what they wanted to believe and ignored the warnings of disappointment to follow.
      They had months of not having to pay even ghe interest, and months to save for their loans. Now they want the taxpayers to foot the bill? Where did their money go when they were in lockdown? I saw a lot of partying going on in spite of the lockdowns. 🤔

      Not all the time.
      For example with abortion. The Constitution clearly states a state cannot make a lot depriving a person to the right to life liberty and property without due process..
      So for the supreme Court to allow it to be left in the states is in opposition of what the Constitution says.
      Abortion should be illegal in every state unless there's a legal justification for it.
      As far as women being pregnant in the tubes ending that pregnancy isn't defined as an abortion so if the supreme Court made abortion illegal they can still end pregnancies in the tube without getting a court order. So we don't have to worry about a woman's like being in Jeopardy

    It actually did the exact OPPOSITE. The added debt resulted in inflation making EVERYTHING more expensive. Colleges and universities loved it because they were given a green light to raise tuition because students would likely believe they wouldn’t have to pay anyway. Why would any lender provide a loan if they knew they couldn’t profit from it?

    On the one hand, I disagree with the "you took the loan" argument, because the loans were taken in an unfair circumstance. A lot of loan recipients were literally raised to take that loan. I didn't go to college and I recall being hounded on all sides by every authority figure in my life telling me that college is the ONLY path to success.
    On the other hand, passing the cost of the loan to the taxpayer is not a tenable solution to this problem. I feel like the ones who should feel the brunt of any such relief should be the ones responsible for setting up the scam, rather than innocent people who are just trying to live their lives.
