    Bizarre position taken by India; they continually berate the UK for the colonial past BUT now support the most colonial, murderous country on the planet, Russia and its imperialist dictator Putin, rather than support the country that is resisting imperialism. What a moral stance India HASN'T taken, they've just sold out their scruples and are paying in Rubles!

      The bizarre position is taken by you! The most colonial, murderous country in the world right now is israel which is fully supported by the west! India and the rest of the world cannot stand western hypocrisy! in condemning Russia, when Nato pushed russia into invading ukraine, whilst the west backs colonial Israeli genocide in Gaza.

    Joint coastguard operations.

    • @larsrons7937
      @larsrons7937 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Blocked in the straits they can't be unless inspected and are found to violate rules of passing through. All vessels have free passage like it was international waters, such are the internationally agreed upon rules for the straits. As for inspection: Like she said, the fleets can then do little else than stopping merchant ships to check them. A frigate can't protect ships against pirates and Houthi missiles at the Horn of Africa and at the same time inspect merchant vessels at home. Sweden has over 3,000 km coastline to guard. The Danish navy doubles as coast guard and has important military deterring work in the Baltic etc. to do. The only real solution is many more patrol vessels which are being ordered but take a long time to build. No magic can suddenly produce a lot of new patrol vessels at the glimpse of an eye.

    • @larsrons7937
      @larsrons7937 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's not difficult, but it's illegal. As for the Bosporus there are some limits for naval vessels, otherwise, in peacetime, all ships from any are free to pass under international maritime rules. Only if inspected, and found to be violating some rules that will remove their free passage, can they be blocked. That in turn would require a lot of new patrol vessels capable of the task, which are being ordered but will take a long time to construct.

      It’s not about British telling India what to do.
      It’s about Indians not supporting a neo-colonial fascist regime like Putin’s. Don’t Indians have any sympathy for the plight of Ukraine?

      @jimmyflawless if India doesn't buy Russian oil who will ? Where would the world get 10 million barrels a day to replace Russian oil if it was gone ,India is doing the west a favour by buying Russian oil cheap and keeping prices low for the rest of us , the Americans would dump ukraine if it meant prices at the pumps doubled .

    What's the Baltic got to do with it? The tankers go to India and the Far East via the Arctic Ocean. And they are actually mostly owned by Indians.
