As someone who watched a lot of weird/surreal gmod content (Eltorro, Dr.Lalve, anomym00se, etc.) what weirded me out about Skibidi toilet wasn’t how weird it was, but the sheer amount of VIEWS it had.
I just wandered across it on my feed. Never have I seen gmod weirdness reach “mainstream” like this and hope it continues to go well for Dafuq.

I think it's pretty funny that anyone in the gmod community would be even slightly surprised by Skibidi Toilet. Like, is it really that much harder to understand than what Rubberfruit was doing 12 years ago? It's just absurdity for the sake of absurdity.
It's more about the insane attention its garnered over such a short time. This guy has more subscribers and views than all of the old Gmod/SFM creators has combined.
This is nothing like rubberfruit's animations. The facial warping is a lot more advanced, there's tons more assets and the sheer rate at which they're being churned out is crazy.
That's pretty much my feelings on it as well, with perhaps my only real concern being how formulaic it can appear to be with the toilet heads always repeating the same song and doing the exact same thing, but it seems to have avoided that and instead pivoted toward it just being A Thing They Do™
I don't think its scary at all like some people are claiming kids do (possibly due to my first exposure to it being the rave video that definitely channeled more old Gmod energy than anything else), but more bizarrely fascinating

Old Gmod animations were actually kinda funny and had more humor than just toilet, funny face, funny song. Fuck, the example of Mario and Luigi snorting cocaine is a little funny now. Now imagine if kids watched the same shit of Mario and Luigi snorting crack many hours a day repeatedly and it getting millions of views. Just that, nothing else.

A brief explanation about the camera heads for those curious:
DaFuq also had an attempt at trying to make music under his old steam/email name Blugray. He made around 3 or four music videos that were soon deleted due to how unpopular or out of line they were with the content he uploaded (There are still some reuploads up to this day). Probably one of the more famous of these MVs, one named Demand, starred Blugray rapping about social isolation in a very They Live sort of city. In that MV, the Cameramen make their first appearance as a sort of "The System" trying to stop Blugray as starts to brawl with them.
After Skibidi Toilet blew up and since he sort of didn't really want the models to go to waste or wanted to see his passion project be in his most popular series, he inserted the Cameramen as sort of a system of rebels defying the toilets, and from there it's sort of history.
DaFuq Boom has always been someone who experiments and now the he's found his niche he's gonna try to stick to it and expand his limits on what it is. He's a genuinely creative guy (and yes he is Slavic) who puts a lot of effort into the stuff he makes. Not out of cynical moneychasing greed, but a creative and talented drive.

the one thing i like about the series is that theres a cannon reason why youre able to witness these events. The main opposition of the toilets is the cameramen and youre just simply always watching a camera mans pov. Its also why sometimes your pov is better at defending itself against toilets and sometimes its absolutely horrible about it. its never the same camera man

Fun fact in case you didn't know, the speaker men who also joined the battle were playing an eighties song that my mom listened to when she was younger, and I started getting into it, too. It's called tears for fears everybody wants through the world.
I honestly think that the creator of that series had no idea this would take off as much as it did, and to be honest I can't fault him for continuing it when they get him roughly 1 million views per hour whenever he uploads another 40 second clip.
But it is spreading like a contagion into all sorts of other forms of media which leads to you becoming way over-stimulated by it within days.
There was a famous painter whose name escapes me, his work became very popular and he decided to keep iterating upon it until he basically went insane. I think what you're seeing with this guy is similar, he's so committed to daily uploads and keeping people along for the ride we have no real idea how his mental health must be like. Life imitates art, and if the symbolism is anything to go off who knows what's going through his head.

I think the reason why the resistance is made up of cameras is because the camera men were fed up with getting killed over and over by the toilets, and apparently the camera men aren't just camera operators, they're literally walking cameras.

I think this video was a miss, skibidi toilet is of course absurd and crazy, but as the series progresses there is a developing story to get stuck in and gives a reason to return. Ignoring the crazy toilets and focusing on the other strange machinations and their stories leads to a narrative that really follows the "show, not tell" philosophy

It sucks since it’s well made, it’s just the community that ruins it. The newer episodes have been less Skibidi dop dop and more killing and showing the world on the brink of destruction. And there is lore, but I will explain if this comments gets popular enough. Basically there is more then just singing G-Mod Toilets Heads. (even though it kinda ruined G-Mod faces due to there being a G-man toilet and most of the faces being from G-Mod)

Dafuqboom been around for a while, and im happy to see his big break, he came a long way from making Black Mesa SFMs and GTA SA memes, that guy has actual talent.
I think the videos' animation quality plays a role into why kids are addicted to it, back then animations were made through gmod stop motion and the content we were fed weren’t as smooth compared to today's quality of shitposts and shorts
Look at Idiots of Garrys Mod, We had Incredibly Rudimentary and Amateur stuff back then. Definitely added a Human element to it as you could tell it was just some dudes goofing around.

@tommykarrick9130 War diary formats are actually something a lot of people comment under (fictional) war related videos. So I guess that is also something that the community was influenced by.
And I assume (I haven't botherered to check any of the videos, so no idea how the comments actually go) that they are being written at least semi-ironically in the same vein as the series of videos. The "plot" of the series revolves around singing toilet heads, after all; there's only so much seriousness you can get from that.

i got latched onto it due to the concept of 2 massive superpowers going head to head constantly growing and expanding their tech and arsenals of weapons in their own unique ways and adapting to the other side's tactics.
Notice in Episode 43: the toilets, after facing off against the INSANELY powerful "TV Men", they start to wear glasses to block the TV Men's light.
and in Episode 46: there is a massive toilet with bolts and plates blocking its eyes and ears to protect itself from the "Cinema Man's" light AND sound attacks
it isnt JUST random things happening. there is a clear line of events here as seen by both sides getting more powerful

It started off as funny man singing in toilet, but overtime it evolved into something else. Something that's packed with high intensity action through a pov perspective that leaves both kids and adults alike with anticipation for more. The animation quality gets better every episode.

I don't think skibidi toilet videos are 100% useless slop that little kids ruin their brains with... well maybe if they can't see the small details. The character designs become intricate and fascinating, and dafuq's animation skill is actually really good. In many cases, you can see the story develop and the fight shift back and forth in favor of the camera/TV heads and the toilets. At some point in the series, the toilets no longer feel goofy, but like strange monsters that are made/created with familiar objects, but are somehow powerful/dangerous and clearly have special goals that we can't comprehend easily. It's a special kind of dread, and it's fascinating how it evolved from a silly video to carrying an actual story with continuous development of technology to counter the other side's newest piece of tech.

The first 2 episodes in the series are clearly just one-off memes at first (though if you're grasping at straws you could say it's "the start of the infection/patient 0" or whatnot), but starting in episode 3 and going onwards from there you see as things gradually escalate further and further, until now where you've got all-out war and truly monstrous Skibidi combat forms.
I mean yeah that’s exactly what it is. I would understand the point if the series was literally just “toilet heads singing the same song in different environments” as it being slop, but Dafuq genuinely has put good time and effort into turning it into a massive arms race between unknown invaders against a growing rebellion of people trying to defeat them. I for one am not typically into this kind of random stuff, but this series genuinely has me hooked

It's pretty crazy that a massive trend like this can pop up so suddenly and without a good chunk of people noticing (such as myself).
I think those series have a delicate touch to them. If you dig in to the details then itmakes a little more sense. The phenomena of skibidi toilet presents itself as something confusing, but as the episodes progress it gains malevolence. In episode one it attacks the protagonist and it ends, in episode three those toilets were marching, but the same thing happens, the creature is just bigger and the area is crowded, so it must've attacked the people on the bridge in general for whatever purpose. Perhaps nourishment, in episode four you may've not noticed that the people in the restraunt got turned into those toilets as a bigger one approached the scene. So, those toilets might've appeared out of nowhere and must've acted as some kind of contageous disease that works particularily on humans, although it might've been an artistic move to depict that they're everywhere. In episode five it is revealed that the threat of the toilets has been recognised and attempted to be dealt with, while they start the full scale invasion. Some humans at initial times are spared if they collaborate, some killed and eaten or if im right - turned into those things. Camera men and others may've not been so easily overthrown since they are somehow different, or maybe they were human before all this happened, but changed their form in order to suit the time and start a rebellion, though that's unlikely. In any case other than having an obvious advantage to narrative since it fits the first person perspectives of them better. Maybe if disease theory is correct - they must not be affected by it, their form is easier to change, like increasing size and strength, camera-men may have a way to see what others see etc. Maybe they can be manufactured, not needing 20 years to become strong. There are legitimate deaths of significant characters, defeats and fierce fights. If you forget that those are freaking toilets for a moment it gets pretty exciting and interesting even for an adult such as me. Conclusion: This isn't a full on child appealing nonsense and it has some soul put into it

I think the "problem" with Skibidi Toilet is the fact that it's using HL2 characters, and you're treading on sacred ground at that point.

Fun fact: DaFuq!?Boom! actually had an old SFM music video where he is stalked down and is almost captured by the cameramen but they are defeated by the TVman before he decapitates the Tvman too, it eventually ends with him destroying a metal wall containing him in the city and killing all the cameramen, so the origin of skibdi toilet is most likely from the fad of toilet heads, and skibdi dop dop, but eventually DaFuq found the old cameraman model in his SFM models and so instead of trashing it he reused it for skibidi toilet, which gave it even more story and eventually the speakermen were added BUT the Tvmen already existed, they're model was just tweaked a bit.

My deep take on Skibidi Toilet is that it is an analogy of the current entertainment environment of current social media trends vs traditional media.
Skibidi Toilet can be compared to modern social media (ie TikTok) plaguing and infecting wacky and weird trends to people and turning them into a single minded toilet "zombies" (influencing). Even the Skibidi remix of the song is similar to trendy songs found on those platforms.
As the camera/speaker/TV people can be symbolize as traditional analog media. Even the song they play "Everyone Wants to Rule the World by Tear for Fear" is a classic 80s song. Trying to stop the spreading influence of Skibidi Toilet (TikTok) with return to traditional media (TV/Theater).
Which is a pretty ironic analogy considering what the influence Skibidi Toilet has done so far.

I stumbled into it just by virtue of the most recent video being on my recommendations quite recently, with no real context for what to expect. Having since watched the whole series, the only thing I can say is: GMod humor is alive and well.

Everytime there’s a new trend in the Gmod community, there’s a group of players who go “Gmod is being flooded with children, Gmod has fallen” and then continue playing the game lmao
Oh you simply don't understand, there's an entire lore to this. you have to be a long time fan of the DaFuqBoom channel to know this however. I can confirm it relates to multiverse theorem, that this takes place in a universe probably already destroyed by an alternate version of the creator of the Cameraheads, male citizen 09 that had super powers but that's an entire other part of the lore that's way to complex for mortal understanding. but to summarize it, Toilets bad, try to take over world, Male citizen 09 (I think the guy who created the Cameraheads.) Sends the Cameraheads to stop them from destroying a planet, and the big bad is revealed to be The Gman toilet (essentially just a giant Gman in a toilet that shoots laser beams out of its eyes), its a back and forward between these 2 factions as new ones are introduced throughout the series. culminating in titan battles between the Gman toilet, and whatever titan is made. Usualy resulting in a failure. (except in the unfortunate case of the Speakerhead titan which was Corrupted by those parasite things.) Yeah its weird, yeah its wild, But it is Very interesting lore wise.

those camera headed people are probably a reference to a very old game made by rockstar called manhunt in manhunt there were some artworks of scrapped contents in the bonus section one of those artworks was of a enemy called camhead some people say that they were removed because they looked kind of fictional and rockstar wanted to make the plot as realistic as possible

I think one of the neat things about this series is that you can tell upon watching it from start to finish (or at least as far as the series currently is) that it starts as a shitpost meme for a quick laugh, only to evolve over time into an entire world with lore, stakes, and genuine suspense.
Dafuqboom didn't expect this meme of his to blow up the way it did, but when it did he capitalized on it, telling what has over time become a genuinely captivating story.
I gave the whole series a watch (didn’t take long), and I think the whole war plot that developed is pretty transparently DaFuq expressing how he feels about the response it got. The random extreme popularity of his stupid shitpost definitely inspired the idea of the toilets taking over, and the cameramen represent his own perspective as his creation went full frankenstein right out of the gate. The cameramen fighting back is DaFuq hijacking his own shitpost-gone-rogue into something he actually wants to create (giant mecha fights), which is honestly a genius move.
Like, whenever a gmod/source trend blows up, what do people do when it gets annoying? They make posts where cathartic violence happens to the offending trendy thing. DaFuq knew that, preempted it, and turned it into something cool too. Whether you’re there for [trendy song meme], [trendy song meme hate brigade], or just giant mecha fights, there’s something for you to enjoy. No wonder it’s the most popular SFM series ever!

I remember those, not much has changed since we were kids.
The difference is those did have more interesting premises than "toilet heads" and didn't get a shocking amount of views. That and they weren't pumped out on such a rapid basis.

To be fair I'm pretty sure that at this point skibidi toilet isn't even trying to be funny anymore, they genuinely try to make the war between the camera people dramatic so I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be simultaneously absurd yet serious

Dafuq is actually a russian. He has a second channel named DoorCloser (if i remember right). I know that because Door has translations for Dafuq's make your time animated series. You can notice how there is no voicelines in the background from the original videos which almost every unofficial translation has and how there is some russian memes in it.
DafuqBoom is also an author of a sfm animated recreation of an old russian meme "Славик буйный", where two police officers bust the slavic's door, and this action made him very angressive to an officer who did that. If you watched this animation, you can notice blyat repeatedly shouted by slavic. This meme was very popular in post soviet countries, while being very unpopular everywhere else
