Immense. This has so many different vibes pulsating through out the song. I get 90's alternative like Smashing Pumpkin and Grunge accents as well, infused into his jazz staple. I've never been this excited for a project. King Krule season is here. Great song.

Great song indeed, but I'd say there are some influences of early 80s post-punk (e.g. the low voice commentary vaguely reminds me of Special's Ghost Town, but there are also echos of Fun Boy Three). That said, this sounds like nothing else, and sounds great: I love it!

Or "he set the bar too high in his earlier work", how can you not appreciate the vibe and atmosphere that Archy's created through his sound scape? I feel like he's damn near mastered it this time around. Idk, people seem to find his newer material underwhelming but I can't help but be impressed every time he puts something out..

Dewayne The Imbecile The problem with Archy is that his music cant be labeled by one genre. He’s art rock, jazz fusion, trip hop, post-punk, and neo-psychedelia all wrapped up into one. Don’t buy into people who label him one way or the other; once they start trying to classify him, you can be assured they don’t really know what they’re talking about. For example, none of the bands you listed capture the same jazz or indie influence this song, or really any track of King Krule, does. In fact, all you did was just list popular bands anyone with access to last.fm could find within a matter of minutes. Joy Division is gritty and dark, sure, but has none of the jazz nor neo-psych qualities this song does. Sonic Youth is so far removed that I’m not even sure how you see a relationship between any song of theirs and this one, besides the fact that they’re both labeled as “post-punk”. If any of King Krule’s discography were to carry similarities with Sonic Youth, it would be something from Man Alive!, not The Ooz. New Order...I’m genuinely curious how you think they, a synthwave and gothic rock group, have any semblance with this song. Same for Bauhaus. For anyone else who’s reading this and would like some more in-depth recommendations, check out the Brazilian band Mahmed, Isotope 217, or The Heliocentrics. They share similar genres as Krule and definitely carry the same downtrodden vibes that his material does.

Interesting fact, when I was 19 (precisely 13 days before this video was released on TH-cam) I was given drugs by a surfer friend that I was assured was ecstasy, turns out it was something else entirely (a very dangerous psychoactive compound) that turned me into an actual zombie. Biting people, writhing around in the dirt, convulsing. Had to be rushed to hospital and nearly went into cardiac arrest.
I’ve only actually realised in 2023, despite knowing the song for years that the lyrics, video, title, and timing are eerie to say the least.
I’ve related to a lot of Krule’s music before but this realisation is pretty next level.

This is my first time listening to King Krule, and I was about to skip this song since the beginning of the song felt really awkward. However, I'm really glad I stayed along for the ride, as the instrumental build-up to the chorus and the rest of the song is amazing. Looking forward to listening to the rest of the album.

I've been listening to King Krule for the last few years now( I guess since his first EP), and as for me this guy is such a musical genius. Goosebumps everywhere. Good lyrics, clips and beats. Nothing mainstream but his own pure creation. Keep it up man! And Amsterdam is waiting for your shows👍🏼
