Holzfforma G111 Unboxing/Real-World Climbing Arborist Review

  • We have several hundred/thousand hours using top-quality Stihl chainsaws on our work sites. By customer request, we reviewed a Holzfforma one our customers purchased and share our candid thoughts. It looks to be a great value and a good chainsaw. Only concern would be the larger than average dogs on the saw - recommend going with either Stihl dogs or a larger bar/chain combo.
    You can purchase the Holzfforma G111 at www.huztl.net/...
    ...and you can find the STIHL MS 200T user manual at m.stihlusa.com...
    Thanks for watching!

    Hey I see you guys all the time, small world. I work brawley school Rd and 150. Been eyeing the holzfforma for a while and your video has me leaning towards the g111 over a used 200

    Great video. I wonder how it's held up for you over time?
    I use to have the Stihl Ms200t and I loved it, though I'm not a arborist. Stihl was the only brand of saws I owned and I don't have any saws these days.
    But if that G111 continued to work good over time, and I know parts for the Stihl 200t are interchangeable with it, I'd like to get one since I can't afford Stihl these days.
    Again, great video. 😎👍

    Finally a review on these saws with a little more safety involved rather then a review with a 70 year old guy holding the wood in one hand and trying to cut with the other " i been doing this for 40 yrs" he says lol . Nice video . Been doing tree work and working on stihl saws for about 18 yrs , does this company recommend any type of break in run for piston/sleeve ? you would think at least idle a tank .

    Been the better part of a year....updates? I saw this g111 head-to-head w/ a 200t and the 200 was literally almost-exactly twice as fast, guy may've used a modded 200 trying to make a point or something as it doesn't seem 50% as powerful as a 200 here (although, out-of-box, even w/ bad tuning it was upsetting to see it choking/bogging-down on that test-wood on the ground, w/ a sharp chain and 35cc even outta tune I wouldn't have thought that I mean even after you tune it and do those last 2 ground cuts -saying after the 2nd, that up-cut, that it was set/adjusted - the first of those two cuts saw you bog-down / stopping the chain :/
    And those dogs are definitely not 1.5" they look like 3" from here!! My favorite climb saw is a 25cc 'scheppach', a similarly 'cloney/chinese/no-name' type saw, got over 10% extra cutting-distance by removing the dogs, have never found use for dogs in a tree!!
    I was intrigued by this saw because of the compatibility with, and my incorrect assumption of similarity to, the ms200t but it's still a 300$ saw and if it's coming in at that weight and is that far behind an ms200 it's hard to think it's a better-buy than echo's 355t (can't understand why they msrp that saw where they do as it's basically their answer to stihl&husq's high-end, 35cc top-handles but it msrp's around 350 so yes a touch more expensive but really it's hard to fault a $50 surcharge to be able to get it from an authorized dealer who'll stand behind it // echo's warranties and echo's track-record, I'm all for saving a buck as-said I have a $145 25cc 12" climb saw, my other is a $230 'tanaka tcs33' a 32cc/16" climb saw, but for this thing to be "part-for-part" with a 200t, yet perform so significantly inferior to one, I wouldn't purchase it not with the cs355t available)
    Would love hearing an update and thanks a TON for posting, saves a ton of people a ton of time&$$ to learn about these less-popular saws, planning to make my own vids soon as I've modded the hell out of my $145 scheppach (csp2540, though several 'companies' sell this unit w/ various colors & stickers, all over ebay&amazon for $95-->135 right now) and, at 8mo of heavy usage, still can't fault the unit for anything and am getting ready to pick up a 2nd unit so I can do more aggressive porting & timing advancements, am betting one of them could be made to outperform a stock cs2511t which, for some lil $130/7.5lbs ebay saw, would be pretty damn impressive!!! Thing deserves so much more love, at its price it is just a perfect saw to have even if you prefer your 192/193t's there's still rainy days, or dead trees that're dusty&dirty, times you'd want to grab your 'bitch saw' lol, honestly for the price point I think most crews should have one!! But at $300 for the g111 you're in echo355t territory, IMO there's no point to choose the g111 in that case unless you're "a 200's guy" and just know the machine, have backup parts/powerheads etc and want that ms200t form-factor so badly (because the g111 seems to *only* be that, the form-factor, for it to be 50% as powerful at comparable weight&displacement it has to have a seriously pathetic engine in there :(

    Good review. Time will tell if these will hold up to the day in and day out use by an arborist, but I think they are better suited for a home owner. If this saw does turn out to be durable enough for daily use it will be a game changer for a lot of arborist.

    • @raulduke85
      @raulduke85 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a ms381 and a ms230 clone; in my experience the problem with these saws is not daily use, but occasional one, because when you finish using it, you have to clean it up and store it with empty tanks, or you'll have trouble with carb/ fuel line/ oil pump.
      Apart from this, they don't perform exactly like genuine stihl, but they are not bad, or junk; even if, considering that farmertec clones are inspired to old model, nowday IMO is probably better to look for a used genuine stihl in decent shape

    • @swordfish1120
      @swordfish1120 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@swordfish1120 yea, you are right: back in 2013 I bought the ms381 clone, so before farmertec and holzfforma: I bought it on aliexpress, I paid it 180/200 dollars with a 28 " bar and chain (clone stihl bar and chain and they were defently better quality than holzfforma ones, at least the chain); but nowdays they sell this g660 carbon dipped... I mean ok, looks cool; but why should I pay more than 500 dollars for a clone, when I can get a genuine ms660 for the same price, or at least 100 dollars more?🤷🏻‍♂️
      It's different with the 070/090 clone, since it's a model that you really struggle to find genuine stihl

    • @swordfish1120
      @swordfish1120 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@raulduke85 You got a great deal on that ms381. I guess the name Farmtec has caught on (because of customer satisfaction and good pricing) and consequently the demand has gone up as has the price. One of these days I want to try their version of the 200T since the price for a Stihl is crazy high.

    • @raulduke85
      @raulduke85 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@swordfish1120 uhm, it was almost 10 years ago and they were at the beginning of this stihl clone business; I think that chinese trade companies wanted to sell these saws at any cost, also losing money, just to get positive feedbacks and start this business..
      I live in europe and here the g111 is not a great deal, cause we have import fees: I can buy an assembled g111 with bar and chain for 350€, or a kit to assemble for 300€ with no bar, or chain, but I can find a genuine stihl ms200t from 250 to 380 € used in working condition. So i decided to go for the genuine one.
      Anyway, back in 2017 I rebuilt the motor of a genuine ms660, I used a meteor cylinder and piston and what I can say is that the overall quality of my 381 clone is quiet nice

  • @alanruechel2240
    @alanruechel2240 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I bought one and have been disappointed. Feel, fit and finish is poor. Carb was way out of whack out of the box, but after much adjusting and breaking in it is at least serviceable and cuts wood.
    I also own an echo ct-355 which costs about the same as the holzforma and is no question heads and tails better. I will buy another echo but never another g111. On the other hand i bought a g660 and it's been a phenomenal saw for the price.

    Weighed your Stihl with fuel and oil but weighed the cheap one empty, without the dogs, also, was that a spare mount out of the box or did that go on? Those dogs are crap steel, I bent a similar spike from Farmertech, both sideways and downwards straight away, crappy as, I think they have to be that long coz otherwise they would bend even easier. Also, your bars point downwards, looks like you don't lift the bar went tightening up the nuts. Could be wrong, but that's what it looks like. A comparison of cuts between the two saws would have been better, you had them both but only cut with the crap one and I think you were the only one impressed. Looks like the chain needs filing but then it bogs down anyway and how many pulls to start up in the tree? Too many. Would have like to see a few more random starts, no way you wanna pull 15 times for every cut once it's switched off. I'd buy a 2nd hand 019 or 193 before that new junk, but I have a mechanic mate and he saves me hundreds on labour hours at shop prices. A 200T would be great, but I bought a serviced 019 for the equivalent of that Chinese saw and it's not as narrow a profile of a 200 but those 200's are pricey. If you're charging good money for your work, it's worth it though, for every time it starts first pull and for your client seeing you have good gear, it's all satisfaction. Anyway, cheers everyone (tish)
