Hello and thanks for posting the Nordemende...the videos for this brand are few and far between. I have two Transitas and one Globetraveler II...these are great radios until you need to replace the dial cords...two of my radios needed this repair...be prepared for lots of fun...

I'm jealous of this radio Manuel, it's a beauty. The dial string shouldn't pose a problem for a man with your talents. Others are commenting that your wife is unwell, I didn't pick that up in the video, if so, I wish her a speedy recovery (Too late for the girl that bled out while you fixed her facial defect).

Nélia got Covid, but the symptoms were not too serious. It did mean that we were both confined to barracks, but with radios to restore, that’s not a problem 😊
I likes this radio so much that I bought another 2 yesterday 😊 Nélia doesn’t know about that yet, but I can always claim that it was a residual effect of her Covid infection 😊

Excellent as always! Every time tormented by doubts, leave a couple of scratches or repaint the entire grill)

Nice job of editing the tuning process Manuel, Don't forget to bleep out the curse words if you show us the reinstallation of the dial cord. Hope you have some good carryout restaurants delivering or that your skills also include cooking. When one spouse is laid up it brings attention to how much they contribute to one's families well-being.

my cooking skills are limited to making … calls for takeout 😊 I agree with you.
      The bleeping has stated 😊

I wish you well in re-stringing the FM. Hope you don't get too frustrated with it. I know I have to walk away several times when re-stringing and count to ten. So far everything looks to be going quite well. Should be a really nice set when it's finished.

That's a gigantic ferrite rod! MW should be very good!

Unfortunately I can’t pick anything here on MW with the rod antennas on any radios I’ve worked on. We only have one local MW station, so everything else is from the Canary Islands and from North Africa. The miniwhip antenna picks that up very well.

Taking out the FM dial cord: talk about a last resort measure :) Dial cord issues not seldom turn into a nightmare...

I do hope that your Wife's recovery goes well and your family stays in good health! I am wondering if you considered using your chrome spray paint on the grill panels. If you did and it didn't work out well, at least it would be reversible with some paint solvent. I would also know how you like your Brymen 869S meter, as I am considering treating myself to one as a birthday present. I really do like the combination DC and AC measurement function it has, which is great for disclosing an AC ripple component on a DC power supply voltage rail without having to switch meter functions. Nice work as usual, and I wish you continued success with the restoral.

I thought of spraying the grill, but it is a matt finish which I won’t be able to achieve with the paint, so I decided to leave it as is.
The Brymen is absolutely fantastic, and O can’t find fault with it. I also have a smaller one and these two have become my staple multimeters for some time.

When restringing I may have glass of wine, and I'm not sure it helps! The wood (teak?) came up very nice and it's going to look wonderful when it's all together. Best wishes for good health. Cheers

I was wondering, are those germanium transistors? Should one let them set on temperature before setting the bias?

    • @electronicsoldandnew
      @electronicsoldandnew  2 ปีที่แล้ว

They are, and I did look out for drift, but didn’t measure any. I have had experiences before where the drift was quite pronounced, but not the case here.

Hi Manuell I was watching a history programme on a picture frame restoration and the guy was using gold leaf. Then i had a light bulb moment. Could you use silver leaf on a radio grill lhave the same problem with my hacker grill .with the deap scratch. I have never done this before but I have ordered some silver leaf sheets ( like gold leaf but silver) going to wet and dry the scratch until its disappeared and apply the silver leaf then apply some clear .cannot lose much as the grill looks crap with the scratch. Might be a success or an expensive bin job mind you it's not that expensive .I will let you know .ps the cabinet looks great just need to remove the thumb prints regards shaun

looks to me that one of that gears on the FM tuning may be cracked, right on the fixing screw. At the weakest ponit...

Acid fumes rise and can cover every thing unfortunately.
