  • Today, I wanted to share with you some of the tips I picked up when I went to Disneyland Paris with a Disability. Obviously everyone is going to be different, so these may not apply to everyone. But hopefully there will be things in here that will help to make your trip a little less stressful and a lot more enjoyable.
Please let me know if there are any other videos you would like to see me do (Disney related or otherwise!) And also leave a comment if you have any tips for going to Disneyland Paris with a disability - it would be great if we could turn the comments section into a supportive place for everyone to share ideas.

Really informative video Jenny, I'm sure lots of people will find it useful. I hope you don't mind me adding some thoughts following my first trip earlier in the month.
Apparently they can only have 2 wheelchair spaces on each Eurostar for evacuation reasons, but I don't know exactly what that means. There's an online chat option on the Eurostar website & you can use that to ask when your dates will be available to book, it's usually about 9 months in advance. And if you want to travel in a standard seat instead you must be able to walk 200m in case of emergency.
Regarding the green passes, you're right about them now being able to be issued in on site hotels, mine was week. Although the number of people you can be accompanied by on each ride will be decided when you get your green pass they aren't actually named so you can ride with other people if you choose. For example I met up with some friends there & one of them accompanied me on a ride neither of my parents liked the sound of (I couldn't ride independently as wheelchair user that can transfer has an asterix by it).
As a wheelchair user with no walking ability the only ride I wasn't allowed on was Peter Pan's Flight because if that breaks down the evacuation procedure involves climbing down a ladder which I couldn't do. In order to do Crush's Coaster in the Studios I had to prove I could climb down 6 steps, go along a long corridor, climb up 6 steps & along another corridor, in case of emergency. I think that would deter most wheelchair users but I was determined to try the ride so bum shuffled the whole distance! If you have a green pass because you're autistic & that prevents you joining a standard queue then you're not allowed to go on Parachute Drop because if it breaks down you could potentially be stuck up in the air for hours waiting for the fire service to rescue you. I don't know about any other specific restrictions but I also know that there are a lot of rides that pregnant women are advised not to go on.
This was posted on Disabled At Disney & is a really helpful guide to getting on & off rides for anyone with muscle weakness or a disability that affects their mobility - m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1620328951435772&id=991041117697895
I tried to see Jessie one day but by 10mins after her meet had opened they'd already given away all the green pass slots. So I made a point to get there earlier the next day. On a couple of occasions I was the first in the green pass queue to see a character when they came out so I got to meet them pretty much there & then rather than having to get a return time. I got quite well organised with booking character meets as they were one of the highlights of my trip & I managed to meet 35 characters in the time I was there (Mon to Fri). The times all the scheduled meets start should be in the weekly programme & I'd also recommend following ED92 on Twitter for unplanned meets - although I'm not sure if you can use a green pass for those.
There are 2 green pass areas to view the parade from. I used the same one as you though. Luckily I'd already read online about accessing the green pass area for Illuminations through Adventureland so didn't have too much trouble finding that.
I completely agree about having a lanyard & loved your heads up about Genie passes.
As a green pass holder I personally didn't see much point in using EMT as I barely had to queue for anything at any time. I did use them (although only partially some days) but don't think I'd bother next time.
You didn't mention the free carer's tickets, are you aware of those? If you have the correct evidence to apply for a green pass when you arrive then you can also send that evidence to your travel agent (if you've booked a package) & they will refund the cost of one carer's park tickets for your whole holiday. The price varies depending on a few factors but is usually around £40-£50 per night. If you book everything separately then just don't book tickets for a carer & you can get them free when you arrive. This makes it much more economical for those of us who can't go unaccompanied.

Thank you for adding to this Molly. Yeah the evacuation thing is what Eurostar said to me. It's a shame they can't cater for more wheelchair users.
That's interesting to know that it doesn't have to be the people that are with you that use the green pass with you.
That's great that you managed to do Crush's Coaster - that's one I didn't get round to doing (I thought I'd get too dizzy!)
Thanks for mentioning the carer's tickets. We did try to get the free ones when we booked through Disney, but they told us we didn't qualify for some reason, which I didn't really understand. If I go again, I think I'll look into it more xx

Have they gotten rid of Genie Passes because I know they completely redid the accessibility system like the Green Pass is now Priority Card and Orange Pass is now the Access Card.
Thank goodness they made it to colour system Ve/Green you don’t need a campion to go on rides and etc good for me who is Autistic but quite independent.

I'm so sorry for not replying sooner - I've been struggling a lot with my health and haven't been keeping up with things. Did you manage to go for your son's birthday? Hopefully when you went they had the direct route on Eurostar to Disneyland Paris. Sadly now they've stopped that direct route, which is a real shame and definitely makes it harder. Did you stay at Sequoia in the end? We haven't stayed there, but did go there for a meal and had no trouble accessing it with my wheelchair (although it was a bit of a walk!) I hope you had a brilliant time if you did go :) xx

This is very informative! I plan on going with my family eater 2021 or 2022, because I need to mentally prepare since Disneyland in California is really different, also I have to save money 😅 I'm worried as I don't have insurance anymore and can't see a doctor, so I am hoping by then I will have one to get that signed letter. Scares me as the doctor I had was the best and took my chronic illness seriously. How do you think the experience was here? Here in Disneyland in California, they see me with my walker or just my cane and people give me looks thinking I am faking which I hate, the only time I don't get looks is when I wear my awareness shirt. I am hoping this will all go smoothly. Also, do you know their firework schedule? I get severe panic attacks, so I usually don't go on weekends here to avoid that. Thank you!!!

Sorry I've been so terrible at replying to comments on my videos the last few months - I'm trying to catch up now so I can then hopefully keep on top of them! I'm so glad you found my video informative. That's great that you're hoping to go in 2021 or 2022! Yes I think Disneyland Paris is pretty different to the one in California (I haven't been to California sadly, but from seeing videos they do look quite different). I hope you will be able to see a doctor by then to get your signed letter.
I found the experience for a disabled person really good - everything seemed to be really well organised. I was in a wheelchair, so can't comment on how people might react to someone using a walker or cane, but certainly when we were waiting with other disabled people (some in wheelchairs, some weren't) there didn't seem to be any issues that I picked up on.
When we went, I think the fireworks were every night - I believe they are usually a short while before the park closes, so it varies on timings throughout the year. But I'm not sure what's happening at the moment with Covid measures. Hopefully by the time you go, things will be back to 'normal!' xx

Did you ever do character breakfast? I’m worried there’s no ramp or access and I use a mobility scooter so I’m not sure where they’d want me to put it

    • @JennyCole1988
      @JennyCole1988  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yep we did the character breakfast at Plaza Gardens. There's a ramp to the side of the building which we used, so you should be OK with your mobility scooter. I just took my wheelchair up the ramp and into the building with no problems :)

thanks this was really helpful. with the pass that also has a discount how does it function, presumably have to book and pay in full first then request a partial refund etc? seems to be no way to do it with discount applied at time of booking. many thanks

I'm so sorry for not replying sooner - I've been struggling a lot with my health and haven't been keeping up with things. Did you manage to work out how the pass worked for the discount? When we went I don't think I got the discount as I didn't know about it then/didn't know how it worked, so it's good to know about it for if we ever go again xx
