- I gotta post this in honor of Persona 3 Reload/Remake. Till this day, This is still the best ''Persona Awakening'' in Persona series ever. FIGHT ME!! (Also, This is from the anime adaptation, not the in-game's cutscene. I like this version better)

This is one of the darkest Persona games in the end

I love how in the anime’s the personas have a mind of their own
its more so in P1 and 2, Persona 2 the Personas can even talk to their users internally, and during certain fights
P5 Tactica had a very interesting take on the concept of a “sentient Persona”.
I think the thing that gets me the most about this scene is that Makoto isn’t fighting for himself, he could care less about what happens to him. But he was fighting for Yukari, to protect her. And also the reason he was able to pull the trigger so smoothly, unlike yukari, was with a little push from Pharos, he just didn’t care about life at that point.
They should have kept it as an animation rather than CGI for Persona 3 Reload. It failed to capture Thanatos's menacing vibe after coming out of Orpheus.

This reminds me of Evangelion in a way. Thanatos scream, blood, the twitching of that hand and bulges on it when he crushes it. The dynamic of a battle in the end. Realy gives old school anime vibes

As someone who admittedly started with reload, it's hate is overblown. Really the only part that Reload really falls flat on is the Thanatos appearance (aforementioned "balloon" vibe others have said). Thanatos attacking Magician is honestly about the same in all versions, and I like how reload Thanatos has a bit more of a feral vibe in the mannerisms, especially during the transition back to Oprh.
This one does have "Oprheus actually doing something" for bonus points though.
Honestly, I think it really boils down to people prefer the one they saw first.
regardless, it still is a little sad to have it be in engine vs 2d animated, vs the protag awakenings in both 4G & 5R. (Though I speculate that is due to the budget/time problems that Reload seems to have faced based on what they have said about The Answer)

im just not happy that they couldnt be bothered to hand draw the protags awakening, but they did hand draw the fanservice bikini scene :/
@@TheRealRenAmamiya I started with Portable, and it was my favourite version before Reload, but no one even talks about the awakening there for a reason lol
Portable doesn't really have "cutscenes" to begin with
So going of persona 3 reload stats, thanatos is definitely able to one shot that shadow

I also wanna think that aside from the fact that he just awoken to his persona (Orpheus) for the first time, he would later pass out when the battle’s over because Thanatos was just way too strong for him at the time. 😂
Reloads awakening is cool but this is just peak
I think this is the best awakening sequence of P3MC, wish P3R would take more inspiration from it

Nope just enjoying the scene that started everything for me as a persona fan if it wasn’t for this i wouldn’t have played persona 5
My only catch about this scene is the music change. The og guitar riffs music is already perfect
The original scene used unavoidable battle for the awakening. This uses Shadow for the awakening. And for Thanatos breaking out, it is a movie original track.

someone needs to edit this scene to have unavoidable battle playing in the background because it not being here is completely criminal.

@m4shsmash8 I’m sorry but I have to take this obvious bait. There is one thing about Reload’s version of the Awakening they tried to do, it’s that they wanted to recreate this version. The initial shot looks fine. But when they wanted to do something really dynamic, it fell off. Like Thanatos pulling out the sword was so stiff, and it doing poses didn’t look great in motion. Also the camera sweep when Makoto used the Evoker was done better here than Reload’s. Reload does a lot of things right. But the Awakening and Mass Destruction (Movie remix best version) aren’t them.

@@m4shsmash8 nah. Now don't get me wrong, the first part of the awakening scene is still great and they tried their best recreating it in Unreal Engine.
However the issue with Reload awakening is when the Persona appeared especially when Thanatos is busting out from Orpheus. The water balloon esque bloating before popping effect on Reload when Thanatos getting out is a downgrade from FES and P3 Movie ripping through metal effect. On top of that the OG and this Movie make Thanatos seems more visceral.
Some people have also pointed out the camera works also somewhat "ruined" the scene compared to the PS2 and Movie version, and yeah compared to OG P3 the camera work doesn't do the scene justice.
Nothing beats the OG game in terms of the first persona summon, unavoidable battle is really cool theme for this (too bad it's for the strega's theme) which is somehow missing in the movie, the brutality of thanatos emerging and destroying the Fool's arcana shadow + unavoidable battle theme is the best moment ever which in the movie it's tone down significantly probably for younger audience (in game after seeing the scene i was instantly want to try to get thanatos) and lastly (and most annoying) yukari is just laying there like she just taking huge damage while in the OG game she stands up after the shock of seeing thanatos
Reload is better than this just because the use of unavoidable battle theme and yukari not laying down
Yeah reloads version is the worst one. Its not bad but this and og have such great shots and sound design.
yeah.. as good as the combats are in the reload.. the awakening scene was kinda weak.. you can see my reaction on my channel..

They probably didnt wanna reuse this scene for reload and said lets try to make the awakeing an in game cutscene instead of animating it for the third time
I hate how they removed the og music in reload cus' it bangs, and also hate how slimy everything looks in Reload during this scene, but it is a new engine so...
I fucking love reload but they did this scene dirty, i hate how much more tame it is, honestly only thing i like more is aleks lee's scream, but animation and cinematography in this is fucking phenomenal

As much as I personally don’t like the Persona 3 Movies, the first is the best one IMO.
