Hah . Shakespearean route... I am glad someone agrees. I often kept telling my friends over chat that Madan Kumar plot is like Macbeth... 2 men benefiting due to the accidental loss of the revered one and it haunts them forever at crucial points in life. Also, coming from a family of film buffs... Jubilee was naturally a delight. A friend who just started watching asked me if Jay Khanna was about Rajesh Khanna. I said I saw the madness for perfection like Guru Dutt in some ways but primarily it was Raj Kapoor.... their ancestral home was in Pakistan, his father a renowned theatre artiste, him the eldest child and establishing his own film production in Mumbai, being writer/director/actor, the sequences paying tribute to Pyaar Hua Ikraar Hua and the schoolteacher section from Shree 420, being in a relationship already but ( on screen ) being very infatuated with Nargis, trying to tell common man stories, the hat-tip to his popularity in Russia via Awara and his future Russian collaboration to make his dream project Mera Naam Joker... so many things to notice. Truly, there isn't only one hero set to one character, because then we all have the song and dance sequence of Aparshakti Khurana among the common folk many years after becoming Madan Kumar, which again reminded me of Ramaiya Vastavaiya. After Suzhal, this is one series I found so engaging and worthy to recommend to other people, and for entirely different reasons altogether.

One thing that I feel CAT does really well is humanize certain characters who are supposed to be immoral. Their flaws are made clear and yet there is just enough depth to them that I couldn't help but feel bad for them (especially for a certain someone who Gurnam unfortunately had to eliminate). Randeep Hooda is one of those actors that I just can never get tired of watching. No matter how many times I see him on screen, it's just not enough. I really hope he gets to make a lot more appearances in the future.

I don't know why Vijay varma is so underrated. He has showed a stellar performance in dahaad. His eyes, his smile, his convincing gestures for young ladies was just phenomenal. He should be cast as a dark funny villain. He'll show the industry his worth. I think a movie is coming of him with Kareena and jaydeep. I'm fully hyped about it.

Dahaad's characters are so empathetically well written. Gulshan Devaiah's character 💜. It's one of my favourite characters this year. Personal lives, their emotional dilemmas, complex relationships, marital problems r so nuanced n relatable. Zoya- Reema never disappoint with the whole characterisation thing. I second your thought on Vijay Varma that "If he ever does a romantic film, I won't trust him"... This is the true definition of an actor on how he engages himself in a character with true dedication. Reminds me of legends like Praan, Amrish Puri, Ranjit etc. where the female co-stars, in the interviews, confessed that they were afraid of these stars on film sets. It's only later when they realised that they are pure gentlemen in true sense.

Dahaad is simply very well written especially the sequence with Anand's young student falling for him. It really puts into perspective how calculative and vile Vijay's character is. He leads her on and then calls her out in front of every one so that it establishes him as a good person in front of society while simultaneously avoiding giving any chance to law to frame him.

@@siddharthdhulipala24 Well, not really. Vijay's character was so far gone, it didn't really matter to him. Only plausible reason that I can think of, for him letting her go was that the girl was underage and if he had gone the distance following the usual MO, it would've forced law enforcement agencies to go after him all guns blazing and it would've been disaster for him. He had love only for his 2nd wife and no one else. His 1st wife was merely a cover for him so him letting go of the girl for her character seems unplausible.

From atrangi re to dahaad hindu "upper caste " women are shown being tortured and killed for loving their muslims lovers by the upper caste men . It is as if no love story is complete without a muslim male hindu female angle . This lust for hindu women dates back to centuries to the times of ghori , ghazni and khilji . And it is actually the lower caste hindus who have suffered the most becoz of this menace . But when you have never seen the ground reality and think ISI as "insaaniyat ke khidmatgaar" and Srk and mamta as supporters of FOE then anything is a masterpiece.

Yet to see CAT and Dahaad (Highly interested because of Zoya and Reema) I have watched 3 episodes of SBAF and I liked it till now. I couldn't even recognise Deepak Dobriyal he was so convincing. I have watched Jubilee and I have to say its like a timeless piece and almost a Masterpiece for me. The music is tremendous, I keep the whole album on replay. Aparshakti was soo good. And Sidhant Gupta and Wamiqa were breakout stars. Both of them have that star like quality they were extremely good. Streaming is definitely much better right now that movies. After Avinash Tiwari hope to see more of Sidhant Gupta. Also Jammy can you review Khakhee:The Bihar Chapter??? Avinash Tiwari is there and I want to know whether to watch it or not

    Dahaad is simply stellar.
It doesn't for a moment rely on any technical elements like BGM or cinematography etc. It simply stands super strong on the core fundamental called 'storytelling' and keeping it simple straight and impactful. Oh 100% : I think the sad reality with the saturation of content across mediums is that creators are willing to talk about shows by binge watching and skipping through episodes just so that they have the first word out there. It takes away from fully enjoying shows & that's why I took time to speak about these series rather than just provide a half baked quick review. Its part and parcel of the industry I guess

Dahaad is a glorified version of an episode of Crime Patrol (episode 77) which had the exact same story. It was telecast 9 years ago.
The difference is that a few things like caste based discrimination, gender bias and patriarchy were thrown in for good measure in this series. The only redeeming feature was the beautiful locales of Rajasthan and the performance of the cast.

One has often seen pretty women play the dim witted damsel in distress & when you flip the script, it borders on being uncomfortable because you are not used to seeing leading men play such fools.
