Oh my god you're right! Totally forgot about that one. He's so cute when he makes mistakes like those, and somehow manages to win it all!
Just a bit of trivia. King Folstag there, according to the Age of Mythology universe, is the officially recognized King of this region (and I think maybe of the Northlands in general) because he changed his wicked, anti-human ways after witnessing Arkantos and his army helping to halt Ragnarok.
He then used his influence as a particularly big and scary Frost giant to unify all of the humans and giants into a peaceful kingdom.
I couldn't find any significance to his character outside of Age of Mythology however, but I consider him to be a welcome addition nonetheless.

It only dies if the cutscene plays long enough for the Frost giant to kill it. A lot of little things like that happen in this game. Pretty cool.

My one complaint is that we got such a small number of storylines explored. I wish Ensemble had more time to develop other story lines and monsters like Jormungandr and Fenris, The Furies , Sisters of fate, the battle between Osiris and Set and of course Ragnarok.
The Titans were just the tip of the iceberg
Sad thing is that another great RTS from Microsoft Games, Rise of Legends, just hurts when you reach the last missions and realise they just ran out of time. So, so much was thrown at us but never fully explained. They created a great fantasy world, but so much lore is never to be discovered and will forever be a mystery :(

Except it's not. It's a really cool concept, pretty good realisation, but lack of after launch support and sudden ending took it's toll. The game is a lot of fun and a lot of people enjoy it. As a fantasy world it has some area where it could be explored a little further. If that game ever makes it to Steam I would gladly buy it. Unfortunatelly you can only buy it on amazon or sites like that.
You can pull off an epic cheese on this mission at the start. Just send all your starting units apart from the ones who build your TC to kill Titan early force and prevent him from destroying the first village. The Titan never gets the villagers, extra military units or houses and you can use folstag to jetbait till you kill him. Pretty cheap, but still quite funny.
Think the programmers purposefully made it so you can't jebait the Titan forever (if I'm not mistaken). There's nothing worse in multiplayer than your AI allies creating a Titan and then using it to chase a donkey caravan across the map the whole time.
But I did,and I won in 30 min by killing all the ennemi infinity and baiting the titan all the way

If you stop then before they destroy the first town and freeze the titan. You can kill all the support and they will never make a base
You can actually rush the red player on Titan and stop them from ever building a settlement.

I won the game without any cheese on titan. Just make some throwing axeman to hold early game with some walls/hill forts and after some time go full Jarls. Jarls clear anything, myth units, human units, you name it. Also They are good against the Titan. It's winnable without Nidhogg this way.

Do Jarls have bonus damage against Myth Units ? Their stat page doesn't say so, so I never really believed they were actually good against myth units.

My strat on this map has always been to wall the northern village in the corner right after the titan arrives. This will route the enemy army through the south passage towards your own town. Once they arrive at your town, you migrate your eco up north and only leave a token force at the settlement, doesn't matter if you lose tc. Meanwhile you keep freezing the titan and attacking it with hersirs while frozen. It will be dead long before Nidhogg arrives.
Too much steps,just kill his initial units and call it a day
I was more concerned on that red rectangle moving on the minimap from center, than the titan troll, actually at 7:02 .
TIP: The "attack bonus vs flying units" axeman bonus grants attack range too. Worth picking up if you want more attack range!
When aom ai feels it can't win a battle, it runs back to save few units.

This mission is weird because folstag is the villain from the first campaign whose flag you get tricked into carrying
If you read te ingame description on him, its actually explained how he went from bad guy in the original campaign to good guy here
Viper, he had Loki as his major god, and that's why his Hersirs spawned myth units randomly when attacking
Loki's gotta be the most OP major god. You get a host of infantry perks, the Goddess Hel (who grants you all three giants and Niddhogg), and the myth unit-summoning perk you mentioned. Don't see why Norse players would choose anyone else.

I won that campaign sending the army at the begging when the titan is destroying the first settlement. If you don't let them build the base, then the rest it's so easy, could work if you controls your unities around the soldiers instead the titan because if they destroy the first settlement entire, it appears the reinforcement in the south

I won without Amanra jabait. A couple of Fort hills and full throwing axe men in the beginning, no walls. Make choke points with forts and healing spring in the middle. Save units. When eco is good enough, send half throwing axe men and folstag to a green town center to jabait the titan. Build towers and fort hills around the town center to hit the titan being jabaited.

Why attack the titan when he is asleep and unable to attack, when you can attack him while he's awake and hitting you with a hammer.
There is a bit of a cheat method with this mission. If you attack the reds right at the beginning (using one of your heroes to lure the titan away), you can kill their soldiers before they have a chance to build a TC.
After that it becomes stupidly easy because the titan will be on his own.
Hmm... an upgrade that improves throwing axemen attack against flying units? This probably won’t be important.

It is kinda interesting tbh how many core concepts that he just does naturally in AoE2 that he completely fails at in AoM, just shows how instinctive those things are, so much that even if they are they same here since the things around it is totally different he fails at it. If not for for the infinite queue button, I wouldn't be surprised to see him forgetting to create villages constantly even :P

15:48 When Pro-Strats Go Wrong: Quick walling with a healing spring which is immediately converted by the enemy attackers.
It's quite simple. Rush the enemy before they build a town center, kill villagers, kill infantry. They won't train any units then :D
remember....towers are your friends this game... . I rushed to the top left corner at the beginning, built some towers, the fountain of health and took the fight to them (between the hill and the tree line so I have advantage). Meanwhile build up my eco and push out troops. Worked for me. The titan was easy...just freeze it and hit it with nithog...
RAGNAROK MAN: BEST GOD POWER IN THAT GAME!
Serious, albeit cheesy, tip for this scenario:
As soon as you get control:
1) Build your TC with only 1 ulfsark.
2) Run the entire rest of your army over to the upper left corner of the map where the bad norseman later appear (see this vid at 4:17 for the area)
3) Get a massive headstart attacking some gaia units (before the trigger changes thier ownership to the bad norseman)
4) Ditto the bad norse's villagers and houses that are located up there.
5) Build a forward base up there too, but play it defensive as you build your eco. Just raid as often as you can.
6) Once your forward base can be sustained without folstag's help, run him around to the titan and freeze him every chance you get.
Never lost this scenario playing this way!
Win without jebait cheese strats plz :D You are the best AOE2 player in the world, no need to go down to such a level. If plebs like us can beat this mission on titan without jebait or cheese, you can too!
Oh just finished: Here was the strat I used in my last playthrough:
1. Use folstag to harass titan nonstop, he is not needed for base defense:
2. Wall top but not left, so al armies go the long way to get to me.
3. Yarls, throwing axemen, towers
4. ignore unit upgrades if population is low. Get big army > tiny army with an upgrade.

Highly doubt an army of jarls will kill an army of champion units :)
you could send your troops to attack their infantry before they manage to build a base, just use your heroes to snipe those infantry who intend to build and use king folstag to attract Titan's attention, you can also build front barracks and produce some axeman in order to revive your heroes and to help sniping those infantry.
I was worried this was going to be an easy one.... then i saw the army at 7:40 11
first off make a large enough army before pop cap. then start upgrades and other things.
40 minutes in, a wall finally appears.
There is always a hole in the wall ;)
Rush west on first red base with first units (even Folstag damned: he is a hero, not a mythic unit affected by heroes bonus!), is the key: that's how you delay enemy the most and prevent him to rush you: attack as defense. This scen was piece of cake for me, even in Titan's level. After you make throwing axemen to kill heroes and the others with the frost giants given, and slow the titan with Folstag. I almost managed to kill him without Nidhog.
you don't even have to defend your base just let it get killed and you focus the Titan at the second village. Keep freezing him and run if he unfreezes.
I never did the mission with Nidhog.
@@BadKommentator note that the ragnaroc heroes make massive damages vs Titan and dont die easily and protect the throwing axemen shooting behind. You can also rush the tcs made after titan conquest with cav or huskarls or giants for red to take no economic or population limit benefit from them and also kill his villagers with any unit: his defense is bad.
Viper knows very well this kind of raid tactic and can manage it as aoe2 champion (way better than me). The trick is: the Titan is strong but can't be everywhere, and ai tends to assemble his army to get maximal impact, as we can see here.
Note that the walls plus towers, is good defense vs humans raids on the opposite.

Ahh i remember this beautiful game :D
The legit way to win this is to wall off south of your base, and then create a proper kill zone at the northern pass with tower and fort support. Build heros, bulky myths and ranged units and defend in your pool's healing radius. Viper kind of did that, but poorly. You don't want to wall off the north entirely because you want them to funnel through the pass and break on your constantly healing front line.
What I seen so far,all the titans missions are either:play for more than 2h until you beat it or the game glitch out OR jebait and win in 20 min,regardless of that I took the second approach personally,these missions are ridiculous,you don't get the usual 5 min of peace to get your eco up. AI is straight up madness they don't care whatever it's the beginning of the game or about it economy

You can attack the Titan's troops before building the TC, and without reinforcements, the Titan doesn't pose too much of a threat.
You can micro it down before it rebuilds the second tc. You can hit and run it and the reinforcements won't do anything past 1 maybe 2 waves.
when I play on hard I micro down the initial attack on the first village and then just freeze and bait with folstag. when they never destroy the first village they won't get reinforcements.
Think it is harder. If you survive the initial blitz in Cerberus, you're fine. This mission's more consistently difficult from start to finish.

This and the return the Atlantis mission I remember being the hardest
Have done this mission by straight attacking the titan with heroes only (because of traitor effect) at start of the mission, before it destroys the first village and kiting him around the map. Enemy troups won't spawn if the Titan doesn't destroy it :)
If you send all units except one to save the first village. they don't create such a huge army. you can micro their units down, as you freeze the titan. and attack titan with hirsir once enemy initial starting units are dead. You just have to make sure they don't complete their first TC
A Song Of Fire And Ice: AOM Edition
Tyr doesn't really help throwing axemen :(... it helps ulsfarks and huskarls, if I recall correctly. "Helping infantry" is just a way for the AoM UI to make it easy to make decisions, but it's not very accurate
That Folstag guy must have a really bad smelling breath to be able to slow down even titans like that

I did the excact same thing but i had like one throwing x-man left and moved it around the entire map with the titan behind me. Lol
you can attack the titan before he destroys the first village so the enemy doesn t turn into mythic age. You just have to freeze the titan and kill it with your heroes.
The best way to finish this mission is to rush it, build a barracks and spam out some units, freeze the titan and kill the units that build the first tc

Amanra is the strongest hero in the game cuz she can say the n word
Onagers, Bogsveigir, Physicians and Kopesh Swordsman are units only available in the Tale of the Dragon Expansion and were not available originally in Titans campaign so please don't use them if you want to play it the way it was meant to be.

The trick for this one to be easy is to rush the ennemy's base with your starting forces ( 3 Heroes+ Folstag are OP), while the Titan goes on his rampage. It skips the hardest part.
Euh no,on titan,if you don't kill his initial units he just build his base normally and you get easily overwhelmed by his max upgraded champion units
This one can be cheesed so easily, IIRC, since for some insane reason they made it so Folstag can freeze it. Can end it super quickly by making a fuckton of axemen and just keeping the titan frozen.

you really need to make more myth units. you are almost always capped at 100

It is actually not that hard if you just start by sending your whole army to the titan and ignoring the other part of its army as the titan will roam by itself. A few freezes and running back and forth with your heros would do the trick
Why does TheViper pronounce the Norse gods names like he's an American?
Viper, you realise you have 4 resources available right? Food, wood, gold AND FAVOR. The temple makes the only "trash" units that doesn't cost gold. Make some myth units man. And why are you trying to counter a mixed army with ONE unit type? Are you really the same Viper that's worlds best at Aoe2? :D :D
The easy way is just attack the Titan early

Thor's Dwarves gather food just as fast as normal gatherers! get 4 dwarves on gold and just make a bunch more to get food! gatherers are still better for gathering wood.
If you attack them immediately you can prevent them from building a base and therefor they can't attack you. But I guess that's kind of an exploit

The best strat to beat this mission and not abusing IA jebaiting is just constuct ur town center evolve ur villagers into huskarl and then take ur whole army to attack the titan and give up your base. You will be able to kill the titan thanks to folstag, u just need to fight the titan at good moments meaning not when he has tons of units around him and dodge the big armies that killed ur base

well easy way for this mission: just kill the titan with your heroes before he kills the first village
i've done this campaign by making the AI bug : just made the titans constantly chase you in circle and all is good. me smart
while i was doing that the AI was no recruiting anything and building anything meh
So everytime he wall and build citadell he manage to hold but strangely he never want to do...
