Proud to be tamizhan coz these epic comedies will become more and more entertaining and fun when you really understand the language. There is more to it than understanding by subtitles. You know most of the dialogues has some ancient proverbs (not only this more) used in it. When u understand I bet your belly hurts. Old tamil movies are gems with ar songs! If anybody sees this comment if possible or interested watch tamil old movies. As a 2k kid I bet u won't regret.

And yes, I agree that Vadivelu is among the best ever comedians to have ever happened across the globe. If only the no.of people knowing Tamil were as much as the no. of people knowing English, he would be celebrated across the globe in the league of Charlie Chaplin and Rowan Atkinson or even more than that!
As far as Tamil cinema is concerned, there have been many legendary comedians but Vadivelu stands taller than anyone else. He is the GOAT. Top 2 things that indicate the magnitude of impact he has had on the life and life style of Tamil Speaking people:
1. We have different Tamil accents for various regions within Tamil Nadu and then we have a Vadivelu accent! People love to speak like Vadivelu in their day to day conversations. In English, people would use a lot of idioms largely derived from literature, whereas in Tamil majority of idioms used by a contemporary Tamil person would be based on scenes or dialogues of Vadivelu. For a foreigner to 💯 understand what an average Tamil person speaks in their daily life, they need to learn Vaidvelu's work!
2. A vast majority of memes doing the rounds in social media about any current affair or issue is completely based on templates from Vaidvelu's dialogues and scenes. That's how versatile his work is. You can literally take most everyday scenarios and fit in a Vadivelu scene/dialogue to it.

There's no possible way that you could enjoy vadivel comedy with translation by sub titles. Coz the entire point of the humor is his dialogue delivery and his slang modulation of speaking thamizh and particularly the certain dialogues he uses which is very new and funny. That's why his films dialogues are used in memes, trolls and particularly by the normal people in their regular conversation. That's what that differentiate him from other comedian or to be precise with other native speakers.
