I love my CONVERSE do not throw away them old Converse keep them I regret throwing my old Converse away the ones I had back in the 90s Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star my favorite shoes of all time I have been wearing them most of my life I love my CONVERSE
Secondbest9966 Unfortunately they came apart after about a year or so. I bought a new pair and had the same issue. I think it’s just a design flaw of the classic sole they still use; after a while it just separates and starts letting water in. It wasn’t as big a deal when they were $35 a pair, but now they’re $80-$90 a pair which makes it harder to pull the trigger on them.
Paul Crowder That’s a bummer. There’s gotta be something that’s better about the made in USA pair since they held up 20 years. I think the answer is in my own question.
Yep. I’ve bought several pair of One Stars since then, and they tend to last about a year before wearing a hole in the sole. This means wet feet if you ever walk in the rain. It’s the price you pay for a shoe with a sole designed almost 100 years ago.
@@paulcrowder I bought a vintage pair off of Ebay and going strong 3 yrs later I guess for me buying made in the usa used is the way to go sadly, 100 yrs of improvement is a thing of the past it seems, if a company can save a Penny they will, yet charge more due to hyperinflation, so it's not their fault I guess
I just recently threw away my pair from the 90s as they had totally fallen apart and were covered in mold. Made me sad. I did buy the re-release a few years ago but the suede on it was different from my old pair. A lot fluffier and the star wasn't as vibrant or as distinct because of the messy nap. I bought a pair recently online from the Target line from 2008 and that pair has the star design on the front rubber part. Thinking about forking out the dough to buy a 90s pair again. I just thought that it was kinda funny that when I bought my first pair in the 90s, the first thing I did was go outside and get them dirty in grass and dirt on purpose. Grunge era and all. No one wanted bright white, new looking sneakers. Nowadays, kids keep their sneakers sparkling white. Guess it's better for the retailers as you have to buy new pairs more often.
CONS is Converse's branch for skateboarding. They're called the One Star Pro because they were upgraded for skating. The suede is more & the insoles are thick lunarlon insoles, the same ones that come in Nike Sb's.
I still have my Converse one star in Excellent Condition I bought it in 1990 and the date the shoes was made on 1988,mine is gray sued with Black stripes and on the heels said Converse (Patched) they are well made still intact with white lace...
How did they fit? They looked a little more narrow than the old ones. I had a pair of blue gray One Stars in 93/94. They were one of my favorite pairs of shoes I've ever had. Comfy as bedroom slippers.
+Tom Newton Oh, and I got the 45" ones. I think the ones from the 90's were 54" because they used the same laces in both hi-tops and low-tops, but they were really too long. These are just right.
I did when I got my first pair but after a week of skating them they where worn in and Iv just got a second paid n got them in half size smaller and I Havnt got blisters so I think it's the sizing that gives you blisters
yeah nice video, but remember they are suede, i got mine and on week one they were already sort of ruined because on day 3 it was pouring with so much rain and the texture was kind if never the same.

How would you compare them now, 5 years later?

Secondbest9966 To be fair, those had holes in them, too :) I just dealt with the wet feet.
Loved this!!!
Kurt Cobain shoes Rip you will be missed my brother 😇😭😭
5 yrs later now - have they fell apart ?

I've been WAITING for the original 'one stars' for years too!!! Thanks for the video :-)

Missed the biggest part of the CONS One Star Pro: the Lunarlon insole. Finally a pair of Converse that are actually comfortbale (at least for me)

Cons is the skateboarding side of converse. That's why they were made suede :)

Lisa Elle they fit like the old ones. And like all Converse shoes they run a half-size bigger than other shoes.
I’ve ordered today. One ⭐️ brown suede
Thanks for the review, Paul! I'm going to grab a pair soon. Are they more comfortable than the 90s version?
It's hard to say since my old ones were so worn. They are comfortable, though.
+Paul Crowder Thanks for the reply!
+Paul Crowder it is amazing how you've kept your original one stars for 20 years good for you
I just ordered these today. I had a pair back in the mid 90's too. I have a question. Where did you order the fatter laces?
+Tom Newton I ordered these from Amazon. They're perfect for these shoes. amzn.com/B00EZE5GG0

+Paul Crowder Awesome. Thanks. I found a website that sell Converse laces. I order one set of fat laces at 45 inches and one set at 54 inches.
@@paulcrowder I just ordered the new vintage one stars. Did the originals from the 90s come in 3/4 inch of 1/2 lace width?
Anyone got blisters from the hard leather at the back of the shoes?
I did when I got my first pair but after a week of skating them they where worn in and Iv just got a second paid n got them in half size smaller and I Havnt got blisters so I think it's the sizing that gives you blisters
I had red ones in about 1976
