My father bought the Toro in 1963. It was powered by a 2 cycle engine.

@@machinesnmetal - No. It's long gone. I was 11 when my bather bought it. I'm 68 now. Been a while. Anyway, what my father like about the Fly Mow was it could move in any direction; fore, aft, side to side, diagonal... He would hang it up bu the handle against the wall of the shed. But it was a 2 cycle. he hated having to premix gasoline and oil and changing the cut height meant removing the blade and adding or removing spacers. By 1966 he sold it.

@@machinesnmetal - The original was definitely a 2 cycle. Another issue. Not very good on sloping ground. The mower wants to drift off, down the slope.

I have just been given the same mower and haven't had any previous experience of this type of mower.
I noticed it has nylon type strimmer line attached to the rotating flywheel underneath.
Can I ask if it is standard strimmer line that I need to replace it with and what length and diameter should it be?

I have just been given one of these exact mowers and noticed it has some strimmer type line attached to the flywheel underneath but needs replacing as worn.
What diameter of strimmer line and length do I need to buy?
Also how do i install it?

So Toro bought Allen Hover mowers? Guessing if someone needs replacement Allen parts, the TORO parts will be a drop in replacement?

It looks that way, Toro recently also bought Ventrac. Take a look at Seago F-19 Airforce hover mower. Same thing

I bought a toro hover mower and it is useless, too heavy to hover due to 4 stroke weight, nothing like old 2 stroke flymo. Toro and dealer in Cheltenham disinterested, Toro afraid to speak with customers, don't buy a hover mower, use a stihl strimmer, quicker, lighter, more efficient for half the money.

These toro brand hover mowers are only designed to trim bunker surrounds on golf courses where the grass is short to begin with. Are you using it at home on longer grass?
