Thanks.
Great video, my advice is when the lights are new protect the area around the solar panel, use either M3 water proof tape, clear nail varnish, or silicon sealant. Clean area first with IPA to remove and oils 😊
I'm always amazed at how cheap these are for all the components you get in them 🤔
Economy of scale, they must sell millions of these 😁😁👍👍
The solar light circuits are a great little circuit. Should last for many years now on your window ledge.
The circuit design is fine, but the board and associated bits and pieces do suffer when outdoors in the cold and damp, unless they have made the effort to waterproof them. Of course that is not in the manufacturers interest, they need them to fail so you will buy more, although to be fair I think this one is probably 2 years old. I have been looking back at my old Solar Lights videos trying to identify where I bought this one. I did a little series on them in 2022. Here is one of the videos in that series th-cam.com/video/NrfH4uZdqTg/w-d-xo.html
Preferably max 300 mAh batteries
I'm surprised that is an inductor. I'd mistake it for a normal resistor. I thought the 4-pin device would be some sort of transistor - to redirect the battery from the solar cell during the day and towards the LED during the night. So, a sort of voltage divider? switch. Just guessing.
This video goes into some detail on the YX8018 th-cam.com/video/7TRyD_EXCbA/w-d-xo.html and in the comments @ziongite explains the operation in words that I can understand 😁
@@GrandadIsAnOldMan Just measured the inductor on one.. yes indeed.. reads only a few ohms while the markings indicate a 330 ohm resistor. Guess a boost converter is cheaper than two AAA cells.
Did it charge the battery. Cheers
It charges it enough to light the LED well into the night. Obviously it depends how much sunlight we have during the day, but it works as well as the rest of the solar lights I have in the garden, so we can class this as a successful repair👍
@@GrandadIsAnOldMan thanks for replying .cheers
@@fredbloggs7345 thanks for asking 😁😁
Ditch the switch you never use them .replace the battery with a cheap rechargeable aaa or if its 3.7v a battery from a disgarded vape that are the rubbish of the decade .
It's a joule thief circuit.
Not worth the effort.
