    The ability to induce PTSD in people with regrets is hardly useless against Heroic Spirits that almost all have regrets.

    "He's useless in a normal holy grail war" Literally about half of the servants are horrible in a normal holy grail war. Vlad needs to stay in Walcha in order to be OP, Frankenstein's monster's ability is literally a suicide button, Semiramis needs the hanging gardens of Babylon to even truly tap into her power(sounds OP until you realize other heroes will want to kill her as fast as possible), Jack kills her master right out the get go(meaning instant death to her), Spartacus runs wildly to his death, and Avicebron is Jack and Semiramis put together. Both Sabers, Both Archers, Both riders, and Lancer of red are the only viable heroes for a normal Holy Grail War.

      Don't forget Karna probably would require a massive amount of Mana to be as effective as he was, Assassin of Red was constantly flooding the room where the Masters of Red were with Mana replenishing poisons that made them ridiculously susceptible to suggestion. Honestly you'd need to be Rin, Kayneth/Sola-Ui, Illya, Sakura, or Waver to actually use him without killing yourself from Mana exhaustion (don't forget Waver kept Iskandar constantly manifested and constantly using the Gordius Wheel, despite being a weak mage he had surprisingly high Mana capacity).

    • @llammapajama4824
      @llammapajama4824 6 ปีที่แล้ว +47

      Lancer Being in Romania only makes him Hercules in Greece tier (which is supposed to be obscenely broken). Being outside of Romania would still be an absurdly powerful Heroic spirit especially if he has time to claim land as his. Demonic Defender of the State lets him have his Romania buffs anywhere in the world so long as he can set up and mark ley lines. Lancer is still ridiculously strong.
      On Semiramis, they just have to hide long enough to build the Hanging Gardens. Plenty of heroic spirits have been summoned before the war to prepare. Hercules was summoned 2 months before the Fuyuki Grail war. I mean it isn't as if all servants know where other servants are and masters do summon servants early to prepare for the wars.

    • @madasahatter6485
      @madasahatter6485 6 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      Llamma Pajama
      Semiramis required real world materials to make Hanging Gardens, most of which took between 2 weeks and 3 months to gather, and that was with both the Mage's Association and the Church providing supplies.
      Honestly the only Fuyuki Grail War viable Servants of Red were Mordred, Atlanta, and Shakespeare.
      Reasons why the others aren't viable:
      Karna's Mana requirements would kill you or slowly destroy your nerves.
      Achilles would put you in the same boat as Karna.
      Spartacus will kill you if you try to control him.
      And Semiramis requires to much prep time to be viable and even then you'd need to alter the summoning ritual to be able to summon her with her Caster abilities otherwise she's just a poison based Assassin.
      Reasons why Saber, Archer, and Caster are viable:
      Mordred doesn't require as much Mana as Karna or Achilles but is just as strong a fighter; however her Noble Phantasm is very costly.
      Atlanta is all around a pretty good pick, she's got okay skills, she's got decent attributes, her Noble Phantasm isn't that costly and so long as you aren't going after children or being a terrible person she'll be moderately okay with you.
      Shakespeare is where it gets fun he is a complete non-combatant but he has the skill Enchant which allows him to create Noble Phantasms, not Mystic Codes, you see he lacks the Item Creation skill which is a Caster's main way of empowering their Master, but this skill allows him to make anything a Noble Phantasm so long as he can write about it without "breaking" the story.
      His Noble Phantasm is actually quite strong, it's not meant to do damage it's meant to distract, this makes Shakespeare dangerous as his master could kill the enemy servant using one of his Enchant created Noble Phantasms while their unable to effectively fight back.
      If used by say a master like Shirou then Shakespeare would be the biggest threat on the field as he is empowering an already decent fighter with a Noble Phantasm of up to B+ quality.
      Be warned though Shakespeare will be writing your story as the war happens this will have an effect on the outcome, Amakusa tried to negate this by using a command seal and Shakespeare swapped who he was writing about to get around it he makes Amakusa's story a Tragedy by making Sieg the protagonist retro actively altering events so Sieg would escape the vat instead of dying.

    Shakespeare actually wouldn't be as bad a servant if he's paired up with the proper master. A manipulative master who can hold their own in combat with Servants amd other Masters could be very effective in a typical Holy Grail War. Shakespeare could in theory use his illutions to confuse the enemy and direct them to fight each other, thus making the job easier for his master to land a killing blow with an enchanted item.

      Maik that's absolute nonsense. Of course mages can fight servants, wether they can win or not is the obvious question that comes up, andfar more often than not, they lose.
      Rin kills Heracles once with a surprise attack
      Rin beats the shit out of Medea
      Shirou cut Gils arm off
      Etc etc etc
      Servants are definitely vulnerable to attacks from Mages, although there is only a handful of mages in the world that could stand up or surpass servants (the True Magic users, Aoko Aozaki and Kischur Zelretch) most of the time, for a servant to be beaten by a mage, it has to be played into a situation that heavily favours the mage.

    • @maik5201

      Well in fate grand order, Shakespeare can summon character in his play as phantom, weaker than servant. If there would any writer, author servant with another same type servant, they can combine their specialty like Shakespeare noble phantasm enchanted, Hans Christian Anderson noble phantasm which can change a person to their most powerful state that they can be, Alexandre Dumas skill that can create noble phantasm from scratch or Scheherazade noble phantasm to summon her character from 1001 Arabian Night, all of these can turn a human to powerful being or boost a servant greatly. These Caster type are somewhat weak but god their support skill can turn a sex crazy nun into a demon of lust that can kill servant(spoiler from fate extra ccc).

      AniNews whether the author or the characters of his work would be summoned should depend on who is more famous. His fame is higher than his author's whom I do not know

      Shakespeare's power is more towards reenacting events than powering up a target. He has his skill to enchance but it's pretty limited in it's capabilities. If you want to see another Author Servant that can actually do what you described, just look up Hans Christian Anderson. Much like Shakespeare, that guy is completly useless, more so than Shakespeare cause he has no defensive skills like Shakespeare. What's insane is his Noble Phantasm which literally makes his master into a Main Character, with plot armor and etc... It's a Noble Phantasm that can make a perverted nun into a literal God. It's only setback being that being storylines are progressive, making the target a MC, doesnt do much early into the war, but as the war goes forward and the climax is near it's power increases.

    I could be wrong but it seemed like he was controlling the whole war. He made a tragic end but would not reveal it and I feel that shiro thought this meant he would die after having his wish. In most of Shakespeare's works it seem like there is always someone with a wish or a goal that gets close to their goal only to never truly have it. So was was series, everyone some what got what they wanted but in a some what or absolutely disappointing way from saber of black and Lancers duel, to Frankenstein's love nothing was long lasting or in a way that the ones wishing for something had planed. I always thought this was what Shakespeare was doing the entire time, writing out the major events which is why assassin of black felt he was a huge threat.

    after seeing other casters in FGO, i think to qualify as a caster, at least for those that originate in 'recent' history, is to be credited with some form of 'creation'. While actual mages like Medea, Tamamoe-no-Mae, or Merlin whose legends put emphasis on their magical abilities, others like Mozart, Shakespeare and Edison were made caster because they created something that made them legends. So, in a way, if more modern age casters are confirmed, they would be scientist, artist, writers or composers in life

    Writer Casters basically are support characters, if you want to go by RPG terms. Normally, the Master supports the Servant through spells and the Command Seal, but in the case of writers, they can't fight at all, but instead buff up their Master to levels beyond what they're normally capable of. A much better example of a writer Caster appears in Fate/Extra CCC: Hans Christian Anderson. His Master is just a nun, and nobody really all that special, but thanks to his Noble Phantasm, in their words, he turns her from a "human being" to a "main character", making her strong enough to be the final boss of the game, while he takes the place a Master normally would in battle and aids her with healing and such.

    Let me try really hard to find a use for Shakespeare in a regular holy grail war
    He’s really, really, REALLY BAD at direct combat, so his main course of action would probably be to mentally and emotionally attack enemy masters with First Folio. By breaking their spirit and inflicting “despair” upon them, he can render them easy to kill (or drive them into killing themselves). His main problem then, would be servants defending their masters, but the only way to really avoid First Folio altogether is to not have had any regrets or sins at all, and there is no Heroic Spirit that exists without those. So he’d probably just catch them in First Folio as well.
    With an Enchant-boosted master surprising enemy servants and disabling them long enough to be caught in First Folio, a semi-reliable strategy of killing enemy masters could be carried out.
    Of course, this is all speculation, and Shakespeare would likely end up losing in almost every case studied. Tell me what you think.

    • @ayar2
      @ayar2 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      He`s too situational to stand a chance in a normal grail war, unless his master is as clever as him. he can be really effective in the right conditions tho, just like jack the ripper noble phantasm, in the fifth grail war almost half of the masters and servants were female (saber, rin, sakura, rider, caster, ilya, bazett) while in the fourth one only saber is present, and even then she has high magic resistance for "maria the ripper" to be performed properly.

      He did actually manage to strengthen his Master to a point where they defeated a Servant, in one of the Subcategory Grail Wars of the Apocrypha world, so he does have some merit. But even then, you are pretty much right that he requires a really good Master to stand a chance of winning.

      I think if shakespeare were to be summoned by Kiritsugu Emiya in the fourth holy grail war or even Kotomine Kirie, he would have been one of the most useful servants around, since they didn't care all that much about fighting dirty. Shakespeare isn't meant to be a powerhouse I think, but rather a support servant for capable masters, or in FGO, a support servant to make your powerhouse servants even better.

    • @mitchellalexander9162

      In theory Shakespeare could be used to target the Master himself to cause breakdowns of communications and target their loved ones into acting for Caster and his Master by proxy.
      Many of Shakespeare plays revolve around character flaws and deception be they in Julius Caesar, Othello, or many other plays of his. It would makes sense that a Master of Shakespeare would have to think similarly to one of his characters: Honest Iago to use him and his talents effectively in a war.

    • @phantasticgoose
      @phantasticgoose 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Mitchell Alexander yes, exactly! His Noble Phantasm isn’t meant for combat; it breaks someone’s will. Given the right motivation, he could probably use it to, as you said, make opposing masters/their loved ones/random people act for you by proxy.
      Shakespeare and his Master would win the war not through direct conflict, but by continuously assaulting the enemy masters’ mental and emotional health through his Noble Phantasm, only participating in combat long enough to get away. It would be a slow grind kind of thing, and it would definitely require a master who is very good at using Shakespeare effectively (and more importantly makes Shakespeare WANT to do what he’s being told to) but it would be a very viable way to win, IMO.

      I absolutelly understand this, I felt this too when I saw, although I must admit it's mostly the adaptation to blame.
      If you look back at when Jeanne first showed up, she took the body of a living girl, this is the reason why Jeanne cannot go into spirit form and as to walk around to whatever destination she wants.
      If this was regular Jeanne without the girl Laticia, she would not even bat an eye at seeing Sieg burn or head.
      The one in love with Sieg is Laticia and it's her emotions that are fucking with Jeanne, ence why there's the weirdly placed look-a-like crying and begging to Jeanne.
      In the end though, it's just a mediocre scene that runs as cliche, but at least the novel made it passable. The anime's scene only saving graces were Shakespeare and Gilles.

      well, I guess you could say that. To be honest, I don't think the author thought that much about the hole thing other than "love is stronger than other emotion" cliche. But yeah, it does make it look like Latricia cares more about Seig than children dieing.

    • @Muriuki34
      @Muriuki34 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think it's more of an "subjective and objective" opposition in the matter of the children Jack is made out of. Chances are Jeanne and Laeticia are influencing each other, so despite the fact that Laeticia, the person, would indeed feel, the fact is that she's directly connected to Jeanne.
      So, feeling what Jeanne feels and seeing what she sees, it does make sense that, in the end, sharing knowledge of what was happening and what exacty Jack is, she would in the end let Jeanne put them to rest, since it was the objective best thing to do for all parties involved.

    Actually, If you used Shakespeare correctly you could theoretically assassinate your way through a grail war. Have the Bard craft you a really strong weapon good for taking out mages, then use his noble phantasm to trap a servant in his shadow play while you kill the master. You could potentially win anyone on one fight by buffing yourself and removing servants from the equation. With this strat, you could even beat Gilgamesh. Assuming he dies when he is supposed to, the fucker.

    Shakespeare is actually OP when in the right hands if he was the servant of Kiri Emiya he could of made all of Kiri’s weapons into Noble Phantasms, this also could work on armour and clothes, now Kiri’s got boots that make him twice as fast, a suit that absorbs magic and physical attacks and it lets him heal from damage he takes. He could also of added a anti regeneration power to kiri’s weapons to stop the healing of wounds meaning Kiri could use hit and run tactics to slowly weaken his enemy
    Also Caster could possibly use his enchant skill on even the grail.

      The problem is that, by essence, Masters are so much incredibly weaker than Servants that they couldn't hold their own. Sure, in a grail war like that of Apocrypha where Servants are fighting in factions, he has his uses, but in a classical one, well...
      Since, realistcaly speaking, HGW are battle to the death between individuals, forming an alliance with another Master is something that could be done, but incredibly risky, and once again, save very few exceptions, normal humans can't compete against Servants, so even empowering his Master with Noble Phantasms wouldn't give any real advantage, save for a momentary element of surprise.
      You'd still have to be able to match the speed and strenght of a Servant to fight on equal grounds. Even with an invicible armor, your bones would break upon impact, and your organs wouldn't whistand the shocks. Even with accelerated self-regeneration, pain would quickly drive you mad or render you unconscious, etc etc...

    The conditions for the Caster class are a bit more complicated than that. I know of five Casters in Fate/, and technically only one was an actual mage, that being Medea. The other four Casters I know of are a knight turned child murderer, a playwrite, a golem maker, and the literal incarnation of nursery rhymes. Admitedly, in Fate/, Bluebeard has a book tied to Cuthulu, Golems are technically magic, magic and playwriting are both forms of art, and nursery rhymes are writing which is also art. The only thing I see connecting them really is they are all 'artists' in one way or another.

    honestly, seems pretty powerful in a normal holy grail war... if it was long enough, he could simply escape any conflict with his self preservation untill only 1 other servant remained, then, at that point, he would likely have a large enough script to break their mind. No matter how strong the servant is, not all that many can resist tampering with their mind, and therfore, unless they had that specific skill to block it, would loose.

      there is technically no such thing as weaker class
      Saber class might get high parameters, but they can still have shitty noble phantasms
      Lancer and archer have the same problem as saber tho they are more agile but weaker and less resilient
      Berserker might have high stats but that depends on his madness enhencment
      a caster can have powefull noble phantasms and beat any master
      Riders powers depend soleny on his NPs
      And assassins are made to kill masters not servants.

    Any master can fight a servant one on one. The dude from fate unlimited blade works held up against saber(king Arthur) ,shioru,rin and ended up winning. I think as long as your servant give you good enhancement spells on your body you can hold up against a servant.

    So he would be a good match for masters like kotomine kirei and the proffesor from UBW, given that he can create NPs

    I'd love to have him as a servant. I'd have him give me a thousand noble phantasms as we watched all the other servants battle by the end I'd be a perfect hard counter to the only oponant I have to fight

    Maybe he can change not only weapons but masters, creating from a master a story witch will turn the master in some kind of heroic spirit, if that is the case even in a normal war he would be pretty good.
    P. S. :sorry for the English, not really my language

    I think Odysseus should be a servant.
    Lancer(impaled Polyphemus)or Rider(most of the Odyssey is set at sea)class
    His Noble Phantasm would be called: Trojan Horse, and have the ability to basically turn into a bait the target would go for(appears differently to all who see it)such as The Holy Grail, then self-destruct.
