GTX1060 is still a fine 1080p card, and sips electrons compared to more beastly GPUs that'll have you causing brown-outs and minor heart attacks at the local electricity provider just from switching your PC on.
Reviewing the 6000 series GPUs could be really interesting with that alleged performance uplift from pairing a Ryzen CPU and 6000 series GPU. I wonder if any of the major channels will be running benchmarks with both a 10900k and a 5950x.

Nvidia did this so much better, even with postponing the embargo lift they still had a full day between benchmarks and the launch date. I still failed to get one but with AMD I dont even know if I want to try and get one.

you can simply use a C to DP cable or plug adapter, basically no different to DVI HDMI, the only thing needed in the adapter is a little chip to switch the links and tell the port that it wants a raw DP signal to be sent (it will be seen in device manager as a "USB C dongle" on the USB 2.0 link, nothing more)
I really don't think you get to complain about that when the new cards were announced 2 weeks ago and decide *now* is a great time to buy a card. hope you at least found a damned great deal on it somewhere.
I just got my Sapphire Pulse 5600XT a month or so ago. I still plan to upgrade to a 6800XT but I knew I’d be waiting a little while until they’re in stock.

I have a couple of 5700xts recently purchased for our computers. Quite happy with their performance. But I only game at 1080P so meh.. Some day I expect to move to 1440P.. that day isn't soon though..

Then when we compare it to a 1080ti which on the used market is going for 400-500. it is 25% faster than than the 5700xt. Which isnt to say it is not a good card, because it is. However if overall PC power was the goal, then it does fall short in its current price market.

Same dude. I think the important question is to ask is it enough for the games you play. I can play Borderlands 3 at 1440P Ultra 60FPS with my 3700X and 5700XT combo so for me there is no immediate rush to upgrade. I do think Cyberpunk 2077 will be the real test of the card though.

While obviously not the best example, with Assassins' Creed Valhalla not being able to hit 1080p 60 fps avg at any settings on an RX 480/580 and the new consoles having effectively the performance of a 2080 Super to 2080 Ti, I believe the writing is on the wall for the Polaris cards. Sure there will be plenty of games that run great on it for awhile, but it's days as a "runs 1080p60 at high on a budget" king are numbered.

I've got a custom water cooling setup with 3 series peltier devices, inline with a corsair 115i. With the 3 peltiers running at only 10.23 volts, (83% of max), it brings my coolant to about 6 degrees below a ambient room temperature with the CPU at around 3% usage. CPU is a 3900XT.

I have a 5700XT to use in an eGPU enclosure and I won't be upgrading due to the lack of DP ports. I have 3 monitors and a TV attached to my laptop and the increased preformance isnt worth losing an entire monitor. Hopefully next year they fix this :(
The embargo is, I believe, on results. He did the same thing with nVidia launch. Showed the card but wasn't allowed to show a installed/ powered system or any testing results.

Yeah this is probably a non issue for most people. Usb c to DisplayPort adapters are no more expensive that a similar quality DisplayPort cable from what I can find. Maybe a minor annoyance for some people who need to buy an adapter, unless AMD include one in the box.

DisplayPort itself (as of at least v1.2) allows monitor daisy chaining, so it should actually be possible to run 3 monitors from just one DP. Or, more commonly (since that kind of DisplayPort monitor is rare), you can get a DP splitter. This caps the resolution you can use on the screens, because they have to share bandwidth.
@@jb31842 exactly. Most people have secondary monitors that are 1080p. You can just have your main monitor on its own displayport and have up to 3 1080p secondaries on a hub
dropping a displayport is no problem because USB supports alt mode, which is basically displayport over USB-C without any significant signal processing. There are even cables without any circuitry that are USB-C on one end and DP or miniDP on the other, and they work fine. Maybe you could lose some of the max cable length because USB-C has a limit on the cable length without the signal needing to be repeated (at which point you'll need an active cable or extension)

Same dude. I think the important question is to ask is it enough for the games you play. I can play Borderlands 3 at 1440P Ultra 60FPS with my 3700X and 5700XT combo so for me there is no immediate rush to upgrade. I do think Cyberpunk 2077 will be the real test of the card though.

While obviously not the best example, with Assassins' Creed Valhalla not being able to hit 1080p 60 fps avg at any settings on an RX 480/580 and the new consoles having effectively the performance of a 2080 Super to 2080 Ti, I believe the writing is on the wall for the Polaris cards. Sure there will be plenty of games that run great on it for awhile, but it's days as a "runs 1080p60 at high on a budget" king are numbered.

I've got a custom water cooling setup with 3 series peltier devices, inline with a corsair 115i. With the 3 peltiers running at only 10.23 volts, (83% of max), it brings my coolant to about 6 degrees below a ambient room temperature with the CPU at around 3% usage. CPU is a 3900XT.

I have a 5700XT to use in an eGPU enclosure and I won't be upgrading due to the lack of DP ports. I have 3 monitors and a TV attached to my laptop and the increased preformance isnt worth losing an entire monitor. Hopefully next year they fix this :(

Yeah this is probably a non issue for most people. Usb c to DisplayPort adapters are no more expensive that a similar quality DisplayPort cable from what I can find. Maybe a minor annoyance for some people who need to buy an adapter, unless AMD include one in the box.
@@bhfootballer26 That, and hopefully AMD put a full USB controller on the card too :) (This is a huge win for anyone passing through Big Navi to a virtual machine; your virtual machine effectively gets a USB controller for free too, which frees up system resources. I know friends who do the same thing with Turing cards)
DisplayPort itself (as of at least v1.2) allows monitor daisy chaining, so it should actually be possible to run 3 monitors from just one DP. Or, more commonly (since that kind of DisplayPort monitor is rare), you can get a DP splitter. This caps the resolution you can use on the screens, because they have to share bandwidth.
@@jb31842 exactly. Most people have secondary monitors that are 1080p. You can just have your main monitor on its own displayport and have up to 3 1080p secondaries on a hub

dropping a displayport is no problem because USB supports alt mode, which is basically displayport over USB-C without any significant signal processing. There are even cables without any circuitry that are USB-C on one end and DP or miniDP on the other, and they work fine. Maybe you could lose some of the max cable length because USB-C has a limit on the cable length without the signal needing to be repeated (at which point you'll need an active cable or extension)
