Pretty much- My understanding is that whenever Apple gets a product like this back, so for example when someone returns an iPhone to apple, they replace any parts that aren't considered 'as new' by their testing. The warranty they provide is always a good back-up plan in case anything doesn't work well.
My old iPhone 7 broke so my sisters boyfriend gave me his old broken 8+ it cost £55 to fix the screen and £5 for a screen protector, since the back doesn’t affect how it works I just bought a back plate for £3 and a clear phone case and put the plate in the case and it looks brand new! All together I got a fully working iPhone 8+ for a little over £60
It’s likely that it’s being sold as “Amazon Renewed”, which according to Amazon themselves means it’s refurbished “by an Amazon-qualified supplier, who is not Apple certified.”
Refurbished from Amazon is not at all related with Apple’s refurbished products. It will most likely be a real iPhone, but it definitely won’t be refurbished to the same standard as Apple. (Example; refurbished iPhones from amazon oftentimes do not have new batteries, may have scratches, etc)
I can't say if it's 'safe' or not- but it will not be the same thing I got. If you buy a 'refurbished' product on ebay, it's usually coming from a third party that refurbishes it themselves. That means that the ebay seller has their own version of refurbishment and their own warranty. The only way that I know to get a refurbished iPhone from Apple is through their website.
I don’t think the refurbished phone was worth it, I got my iphine 8na year ago (sep 22 2019) and it was brand new and not refurbished or opened. I got it for 399 and it was brand new and completely sealed. There fore I feel like just saving £100 isn’t worth your money when u can buy complete new ones for cheaper :) bye 😽

they replace the old battery for a new one, so the product will come with a new battery
