For your question at 29:06, that’s the state of Colorado which many Americans go to for skiing! The area you were pointing to, in particular, has a dense concentration of national forests
The Appalachian Mountains are prounounced a little differently based on if you are living in the south or north of the U.S. In the south where I live, we pronounce it like: -Apple -Atch (like the word Hatch without the H) -In So Apple - Atch - In In the north, it's pronounced: -Apple -Lay (like laying down) -Shun (like rejecting someone) So Apple - Lay - Shun
@WelshASMR82Maps I grew up in the part of the Appalachian Mountains that run through North Carolina, and I can honestly say there is no "right" way to say it. 🤣 It's a very regional thing.
@Cryptokeeper0421 Interesting! So you pronounce it more like the people I've met from the north then. I'm in N.C. so it's interesting to see how it changes across the states.
Here's a fun U.S. Geography fact. If you made the headwaters for the Missouri river the beginning of the Mississippi river instead of splitting them, it would be the longest river on earth. Also the Appalachian mountains are the oldest mountains on earth. Their original formation started 1.1 billion years ago.
I hope you continue to make content for a long time. Sometimes I worry you’ll run out of maps haha. You have a perfect voice for ASMR and the way you speak is truly comforting. Thanks for all the effort you put into your videos ✨
If it’s not too hot, a barbecue is nice for Christmas. Prawns are always hugely popular. The traditional desserts are nice, but sweets like trifle, pavlova, and chocolate ripple cake are nice cool desserts.
Great content man between your maps channel and football channel I never have trouble falling asleep. your voice is so relaxing. Cheers mate from a geography and football fanatic Colombian living in Orlando, FL
Very nice and relaxing video. Great work. I do think that there just to be a landbridge through the Bering street during the last ice age instead of an ice bridge.
One of, not the. Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho are also well known for being skiing destinations and most of the other western states have at least one well-known ski area, including Arizona.
About rain we have a lot of Rain in Newfoundland and a climate almost the same as the the British îsles which explains why most people who came here are from wales, South western England like Cornwall and Wessex also Scotland and Ireland.
Puerto Rico is a really odd situation for us. We got it from the Spanish after our war with them in the early 1900s. The only reason it isn’t a state is mostly because it upsets the political balance too much for our congress to allow it mostly. Atleast that’s normally the historical reason. I think eventually it’ll become a state, it’s just going to take more time. Slow process.
I’m not Puerto Rican but it seems a little more complex than that. Puerto Rico was colonized by the Spanish resulting in the hybrid culture that is Puerto Rican today. It became a US territory after the Spanish-American War. Some Puerto Ricans want independence, some want statehood. Some want neither, mostly because the government is pretty mismanaged and they also don’t have to pay federal tax. I think the majority of Puerto Ricans actually live outside of the island, mainly in the US northeast and Florida, so that makes it a bit more complex as well. In my opinion, Puerto Rico should become the 51st state but then we’d have to add another star to all the flags.
Colonialism? The only truly colonized people of Puerto Rico were the indigenous population, who are all long dead. Most Puerto Ricans are descended from the Spanish colonizers who killed them. lol The "weird situation" in Puerto Rico is called indecisiveness. They've been given several opportunities to change their status, including independence (which is by far the least popular option.) They don't vote. Not in the numbers needed for it to count. So I know you think you're going to bat for them, but you're really not. Their situation is nothing like Ireland's.
At 25:32 North Dakota is relatively wealthy because there is a lot of oil drilling in the area.
For your question at 29:06, that’s the state of Colorado which many Americans go to for skiing! The area you were pointing to, in particular, has a dense concentration of national forests
The area at 28:05 is in Colorado, which has many towns (namely Aspen) where many people in the US go to ski and snowboard during the winter!
The Appalachian Mountains are prounounced a little differently based on if you are living in the south or north of the U.S. In the south where I live, we pronounce it like:
-Apple
-Atch (like the word Hatch without the H)
-In
So Apple - Atch - In
In the north, it's pronounced:
-Apple
-Lay (like laying down)
-Shun (like rejecting someone)
So Apple - Lay - Shun
In Texas we pronounce it “App-uh-lay-shun”
So, basically, both my attempts were wrong? lol!

Thank you so much! I had this thought and I genuinely think I'll just do the same maps again. No one will notice... will they?? lol
@@WelshASMR82Maps I certainly wouldn’t notice - considering I fall asleep half way through your videos. Thanks for that BTW :)
25:30 North Dakota has been in an oil boom the last few years.

"If it's not too hot..." now you are just rubbing it in. :)

Hi! We do often see tropical storms or hurricanes form in the caribbean sea, often hitting countries along the east side of central america!
great video! so relaxing and interesting❤
Interesting, we've had rain and thunderstorm conditions here (Hamilton, Canada) the past hour too...
I love how Canada states are insanelly bigger than some USA states combined
Could you do a video about Massachusetts?
Delightful as always.
Very nice and relaxing video. Great work. I do think that there just to be a landbridge through the Bering street during the last ice age instead of an ice bridge.
Yes, I thought so and then I changed my mind at the last minute. Thx!
Yellow bit in Colorado you were asking about could be the region around Aspen. If i remember correct thats the major skiing area in the US
Ahhhhh Aspen!!
One of, not the. Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho are also well known for being skiing destinations and most of the other western states have at least one well-known ski area, including Arizona.
24:29 this is btw New Hampshire
25:28 and yes, this is North Dakota
25:49 this is Mississippi
North Dakota is rich because of the oil fields.
Great video loved it❤
As someone from USA (South Carolina) I pronounce the Appalachian mountains as “apple+a(as in at)+chain
Ah Wales where the sunshine comes in liquid form
I am stealing this, it's amazing :)
Hi , may I know the name of the book ?
About rain we have a lot of Rain in Newfoundland and a climate almost the same as the the British îsles which explains why most people who came here are from wales, South western England like Cornwall and Wessex also Scotland and Ireland.
Great video!! The USA bought Alaska for $7.2mill in 1867 which adjusted for inflation would be over $226billion today
So... that's more expensive than I thought! haha
$117 million in 2021. Not sure where you got $226 billion.
Woohoo! Now you’re in my neck of the woods! I can give you fun tidbits if you do DC/MD/VA (DMV). 😊

I will try soon!
Tükçe altyazı gelirse çok mutlu olurum çünkü çok bilgilendirici bir video
The book is a bit old the current population of Canada is 41 million
The “weird situation” in Puerto Rico is called colonialism.
I apologise. As someone who lives in a country which has suffered (and still suffers) colonialism, I should have been more sensitive. Lo siento mucho.
@@WelshASMR82Maps It’s fine, I’m Irish so solidarity to you as well
