    I’ve got a Super Tenere and I have owned 30 bikes over the years. The Super Tenere is the best all rounder out of the 30. Perfect for cruising, great for off road gravel riding, brilliant smooth and powerful engine, awesome comfort and it will last forever as it is made of granite.

      Bullet proof, and on the heavy side, topwise also.

    I went from a tracer 900 to a Super Tenere. I spent so much money trying to make the tracer something that it wasn’t. It’s not a powerful bike and it’s long term comfort is just not there. The Super Tenere is the all around champ from Yamaha that does a lot of things well.

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  ปีที่แล้ว

      Tracer 900 or 700? The Super T definitely wins on comfort, but I'd have said the 900 won on performance, although I do like triples.

    Great video! Agree with all.
    Just got an older model S10 and still feeling out the Unified Braking System to see how well I can load the front tire for corner entry.
    I learned quite quickly that it is a vastly different platform than my previous 500cc, lighter bike but traded up to the S10 with trips/destinations in mind that require a big tank and mile-munching capabilities. Can't wait to really give it a good go!
    Of note, I sat a Tracer9GT with the OEM seat and I would rather get a colonoscopy. It was awful for my frame and ergo.
    Would have had to immediately drop £500 for a custom/comfort seat to make it rideable for more than 50km.

    Would it be fair to say the riding position for the Super Tenere is bolt up-right, but the Tracer 9 needs a slight forward lean for someone around your height? This might be a consideration particularly for older riders.

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe just a little bit, but I wouldn't have said it was a big difference, especially looking at some of the photos sitting on the bike.

    Very interesting comparison, Kris!! I have a Tracer 9 GT and use it a lot on quite bumpy bitumen sealed roads. Do you think the Super Tenere would give a better ride quality on bumpy roads ?

    • @MotoJournoKris

    Can anyone here compare the Verseys 650 to the Tracer and also the ST? . I know these are all about 300 cc's apart. I am 6'02 240 lbs. I am looking for commuting with comfort so I am not escluding the bigger biles like the ST. People commute on Harleys every day in the midwest which does not have a lot of "Twisties."
    I rode the Verseys 650 at a demo day. Great comfort but seat pushed me forward too much, fely slightly cramped. I have a ton of questions but am interest in purchasing a bike and getting your feedback. Thank you! I am leanong towards one of these bikes.

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Been ages since I've spent any time with a Versys 650, but the Super Tenere should certainly feel more roomy in that comparison. You can always look at a comfort seat, as they usually add a bit more padding (and height) and should flatten out the seat a bit, just depends what's available for the 650.

    • @EM-eg3qc
      @EM-eg3qc ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MotoJournoKris I started looking at seats for the Verseys. I did not locate one designed for taller riders or to have less of an incline. I am aware of the comfort seat on the Tracer. Thank you for the response. I just need to find a used Tracer and Super Tenere to test drive. I can make my decision then.

    Yamaha has all but discontinued the S10. It seems like a no-brainer to release a CP3-powered adv bike to compete in that segment, what's Yamaha waiting for?

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Bit of a head scratcher there honestly. Maybe just a slow development process, or focusing on the R9 first? You'd think the ADV would have a lot more sales potential than a sportsbike though.

  • @lcdubs7847
    @lcdubs7847 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Love the Tracer motor, but the 17" front wheel is just too small. 19 or 21 is the way to go.

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm guessing they kept it 17" because it's so road orientated. Be cool to see a triple-cylinder ADV out of Yamaha though. To compete with the Tiger 800s.

      Same pressure regardless of brand will be fine.

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As Trevor says, you should be ok running those pressures on any tyre. I normally run 32 front 34 rear, which has been recommended on a number of my bikes. Some tyres I do find are quite sensitive on pressure when it comes to comfort. Like 1-2 PSI can be the difference between a harsher ride and much better comfort. On my Daytona I could tell if I had too much tyre pressure in them the first speed bump I'd go over like that.
      Tyre companies will also generally just refer you back to the manufacturer recommendation.

    I had a 2019 super tenere and I found it too heavy. I like hustling a bike through the mountain roads and I didn't care for its handling because of it's weight.

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was honestly surprised at how well it could be hustled through twisties, but it's a bigger ADV at the end of the day, so you trade some of that ability for the longer travel capabilities.

  • @davidmallia628

    As good as they both are, the 1300 is too heavy, and uninspiring. The tracer, too much of a sport bike, no 19 inch front wheel, but, maybe the best choice between the two. A GS boxer is the middle road for all aspects of touring, sport, adventure, comfort, etc.
