He looks like so much fun but I kind of anticipate him being nerfed hard over patches. Like, one of the most apparent issues with his kit is that he does the job of long range poke mages, medium range control mages, and to a certain degree enchanters all in one kit. He’s also deceptively hard to engage on because while immobile, he can turn some tables by going into his nami-esque auto buff and kiting you among others.
His Q,W range is fucking insane
Gotta say playing mages is my guilty pleasure of league. Xerath, Vel'koz, Viktor and Vex are some of my favorite champions to play outside my usual role being jungle, but now with Hwei coming out i may become a full on mid main because he just looks like SO MUCH FUN!!! And with new mage items as well I'm really looking forward to actually playing mid as a secondary role or maybe even main role! Season 14 looking GREAT!
I literally think of Zwag the first time I see the gameplay of this champion, it just fits so perfectly with his skills
His ult is very similar to fizz, its basically his engage in fights and guarantees the rest of his dmg.
Also hard to land but Hwei can also setup his ult if he fears or roots them.
the ew definitely works better as area denial or to use its vision granting to check bushes or over walls at objectives etc
Make a video of Galio Mid with Kaenic rush. Could be fun to watch that massive shield, especially if you also build Maw if it still exists in s14

Try Lawn Mower Gwen! Basically go all-in on-hit and attack speed. Her E gives her a HUGE Attack Speed steroid, and when you pile up other attack speed items she can attack at stupid speeds (3.5+ ATK SPD). You basically use your E for damage more than your Q (Max E first).
Runes: Lethal Tempo, Presence of Mind, Alacrity, Cut the Grass, secondaries w/e
Build: Attack Speed Boots, Nashor's Tooth => Guinsoo's => Blade of the Ruined King => Cosmic Drive => Lichbane
You want some AP since your E scales off of it, I find that Cosmic Drive gives good Stats + sticking power. Same for Lichbane, helping you stick to the target, and giving you a repeatable big hit (since her E basically has no cooldown once you max it, as long as you hit something). The Bork is for survivability, since you don't have the Omnivamp from Riftmaker.

The EW is just like a Veigar cage, u can use it to limit the space of the enemy or to get temporary vision without spending a ward. But in team fights EE is just better since it hits multiple targets

One of my favorite combos for him is WE,EQ,QQ,R. Really beefy single target damage.

Honestly as an Aphelios user, i think his kit of Ammo base instead of being able to pick his guns is fine to keep him balance..
Its the reason why he is unbalanced tho... with a design like hwei there wouldn't be triple q nonsense or the constant managing of ammo that stops anyone still learning macro from doing well macro-wise. The thing they both share that makes them proplay focused is their flexibility, so maybe hwei will suffer bad solo que winrates as well

For a new champ, he seems decently balanced with the new items. Everything is a bit tuned up rn which helps and seems more fun to me. I'm defiantly gontry this when s14 hits live servers.
They could make Hwei's root have a shorter range but give multiple shots, maybe start 1 shot, but the higher level more shots, makes it so its more peel for assassins
Try this build with cd runes, includong minor.
Tear start, rocketbelt, liandriay's, goddess, then whatever high ap/damage item.
You can spam spells like no tomorrow, you do burn damage, you get a small dash for engage with damage and disengage with EW and allows you to get a lot of surprising kills with your extra range QQ. JUST TRY IT!

I can’t believe they buffed hwei. He was not weak. He is just a little bit more complex than lol is usually used too. But not too much that u need a phd to play him. When he comes out, he will soar in the rankings. The high tier will learn him very fast and those that one trick him will dominate the lower middle ranks. He is just awesome

Aphelios and Morgana Bot, Hwei Mid, Sylas Top and a bunch of Jung options like Amumu for more CC or Kayn or Briar for more damage/ bruiser. Kaisa bot is also an option, Mundo Top for more tank could pass as emo lol would be fun to watch
This new champ feels a bit like leagues take on Invoker from DotA. At least this dude doesn’t turn invisible while sniping mapwide

I dont think it would work cause it only crits with magic and true damage.

The 0/11 quarter health shaco saying « this is a balanced champion » while Zwag is 13/3
QE in not just for farming and zoning, but also it's the highest damage ability, so if an enemy is stunned/slowed, you can use QE and deal way more damage than with QQ.
Also you should always be using only QE when doing things like drake
30:12 so close with the fear missile. Like 5-6 frames too early.
I think the root work on Basics likes if enemy Stand inside of circle for some time (1s. Idk...) then the spell will "shoot" root

That Leona was a walking ward for your team. Never seen someone play so far up front and be so crazy obvious if their team is or isn't there.
Don't know if you can still get the low ult cool down, if you can you should try lux or kayle. I think both of those would be broken.
i feel like cosmic drive is such a good defensive item for this guy.
It’s about the closest thing to dota 2 Evoker. I hope they add a d&d skin like twitch or talon skins.
