2:06 Check the water levels before you go
6:04 Check for flash flooding
8:25 Start early or backpack the route
10:35 Rent the right gear
13:21 Bring all of the water you need for drinking with you

This was presented and narrated so beautifully my friend! Such a lovely and helpful upload!
Great info and great timing! I’ve been reading and watching all your info on Zion and Bryce in hopeful preparation for a bucket list trip next summer! I used your RMNP Itinerary a few years ago and had a fantastic trip!
We went in late April after Spring break. We missed the Narrows due to high water flow. Everything else was awesome though. You will absolutely love it. I was pretty blown away.
Thanks so much, and enjoy Utah!!
Great videos, great and useful tips ! Thanks 🙂
Great video, thanks for the tips. It looks like an awesome hike.
It is!
This was the most informative video about hiking the narrows. Thank you so much!
Something else that could be mentioned is the seasonal equipment you should have. The water was 50° when we went in late October so we rented a dry bib package at the local outfitters. We couldn't have done it without that equipment!
Yeah, Zion Guru is really good about talking you through what you need, depending on the conditions. We had to have the full-body suits last time I was in there haha!
Only done The Narrows once but that was enough to put it at #1 on my recommended bucket list (sorry Glacier). My main recommendations would be to go shortly after Thanksgiving weekend. After that weekend they allow you to drive in in your own car as compared to having to take their shuttles. (At least when we went in 2017 that's how it was). Also, use a local outfitter to rent your gear. They also request you watch a short (and very informative video that is great food for thought on what to expect and safety). This gear will make a HUGE difference in your experience. Finally, besides the obvious, if you want the best photos you better get an early start so that 1) there's less people in your shots, and 2) you get that amazing side light hitting the walls, making them light up in that wonderful warm glow you see in a a lot of shots.✌
Sounds like you did everything right! Glad it was such a great experience for you!
Enjoyed your video. After getting our trip cancelled last winter, we’re giving it another shot on New Year’s Eve. Been wanting to do this hike for a while with my daughter.
I hope you have an amazing time!
A question. We’ll be renting the shoes, etc. I guess it’s a mile walk before we get to the river from the drop off. How comfortable are the shoes for that walk before and after getting wet and just for comfort?
We never have problems making that walk in those shoes. They are pretty comfy!@@tommyphillips6584
Did it in late March watching water levels daily. Finally went under 150 for 24hrs. Was definitely challenging current is no joke. It was fun though. Also very little people
I'm glad you got to get in there! But yes, those higher water levels can be so difficult to navigate through!
Yeah, an awesome job narrating and giving useful information.
- Help me out. Is Zion pronounced Zi-in just like you pronounced it at 0:35 or is it Zi-on?
Zion rhymes with Lion if you're a local :)
If you are backpacking do you plan on floating your pack here and there?
We always pack our stuff in dry sacks and plan on getting our packs wet in a few areas. But typically, we take them off our backs and hold them over our heads to avoid getting things too wet!
Where do you recommend renting gear from?
I like Zion Guru...they have really good gear and extensive knowledge of the area!
@@DirtInMyShoesThank you for the recommendation! We just got back from our trip and Zion Guru was very helpful. Our experience in the Narrows was much better, because Zion Guru knew the hike and that our youngest would need more gear than I had originally planned. It was an amazing hike!
so happy to hear that!@@itsjustastitch9615
Is it doable in february?
It is, but you'll need the full body suit because the water is freezing!
