As someone who was introduced to Gogol Bordello ages ago, it feels great seeing so many folks getting turned on to their music, thanks to James Gunn's soundtrack choices.
It's weird, it was actually a short of that scene that directed me to this video, but I'm realizing that I have actually heard part of it used somewhere before... Though I cannot place where it was.

I only discovered gogol bordello last year on accident but this is the music i have been searching for. My family comes from gypsys but we have lost most of the traditions over the generations and always felt like i missed a part of my story and now it feels like i finally found a piece of that.

If you watch closely at 2:09, on the map( showing a part of Romania) is written "Tîrgu Ocna"(Salt Market, as translated, because of the mine that's been around here for over 450 years, according to that period's documents; people from Germany or even England would come in this area for the salt, the natural spring water rich in minerals, or for selling or buying horses and cattles-there was a breed of moldavian horses well-known in Europe for its strenght and speed). That's my own town!

During the nineteenth and twentieth century, this town was one of the most important commercial centre around, both locally and continentally. Underneath the streets there are secret tunnels. They can't be accessed by the public, though. Only a few know where the entrances are. And there is more to know!

Love the song, love the Gogol Bordello, love the video, and love the fact that I'm just sitting here pointing out so many places I've been on the maps. I may be a Wonderlust King, too... Sofia, Mosul, Zagreb, and on and on. Weird for someone from the US, but whatever, you learn so much more travelling than you do from a book or a class. There's something to be said for taking the time to talk with the locals, and not the ones working for the tourist traps, but all those everyday people getting by day by day.
