Nice save. I like that you showed the previous damage because I think amny people start off like that and abandon further attempts. Im watching your much more recent stuff and your skills have grown enormously so that is very inspiring. I just mended my wii nunchuk yesterday after watching lots of your fixes. It had broken wires right inside the connector and because of your inspiration, I pulled it all to pieces and soldered in new wires and put it back together and it worked. Never would have attempted that without first having seen your and vinces evolutions in fixing.
When you are in a pinch for “solder mask” raid your wife’s makeup case and get some acrylic nail Polish. That stuff sets hard as a rock. I would’ve just made the tines out of tape and run wire wrap wires to from the IC to the tines a bit less fiddly. So I’m impressed with your cutting skills.
Haha, Marmite Vince!!!! Well done Steve, nicely cut tracks. Good job, working really nice and a very well edited fun video. It may be easier to solder next time if you squeeze the copper tape under the chip legs, but who cares..it works!! You don't happen to know the music at the 4 min mark do you. If it is from TH-cam music library I would love to use that in one of my vids if you don't mind :-)
😀 Bad joke, I know, sorry! Thanks again for your help, i did think about the tracks whilst editing it and was kicking myself for not putting them under the legs! But as you say, who cares if it still works! The track around 4 minutes is not actually from YT Studio, it's called "The Way Things Used To Work" by David Fesliyan. I use quite a bit of his music, but I did have to make a small donation to remove any Copyright claims. 👍
I have no knowledge of electronics, which is reason enough to glean a bit of insight. Your style and seeming kindness makes the learning process most pleasant. Thank you.
I had a Little Professor calculator and absolutely loved it! I think it was even the same release/model. I'd totally forgotten about it. This video is nostalgia crack!
You did a damn fine job on that copper tape work. Ive never done any electronic repair but im keen to try. That is a real show if skill there, Steve. Well done, man. Truly impressive.
Hello, what is the brand of flux that you are using? It’s kind of like a gel, seems way more practical than the crystallized block I’m using, which I have to melt first and then quickly apply before it becomes hard again. Please let me know. Be safe and thank you kindly
Hi Max, its called Amtech 559. It is quite expensive, but it is really good stuff! I have actually just run out of it and I'm now trying one called Kingbo 219. It is also quite good and much cheaper! 👍
@@StezStixFix 😁 I wish I could, alas the older I get the greater I shake 😐 so yeah game over, all I can do is watch others more talentented than me, like You, Vince Steve and their fellow streamers..
It is not a big problem when only doing these small repairs, You only need to worry when on an industrial scale . Take a look at " Big Clive ", he has been into this a long time and does not bother with it
I dont like lcd displays. The concept is cool, but there are no pads you can solder to, only some conductive thingies and if you detach one you wont be able to put it back
The red LED version of this wasn't as good as this version - it was very different though, it must be said. (Always made me think of an almost Speak & Spell; only not as advanced).

Its good to come back to your stuff and from a video presentation POV, see how youve progressed.

I had one of those as a kid, thanks for bringing that memory back.

I use clear nail polish to hold down stuff and seal.
Nice fix. And also nice maths skills! Thanks for the interesting vid 😊
Thanks Jonathan! 😄
Amazing fix. Only topped by the tenacity. Nice job!
Wow I love this copper tape! If I knew this 3 months you would have saved me £197!! I love this thank you so much!
I'm thinking, for these delicate cables what about some conductive paint?
Im just wondering if etching is possible instead or laserprinting thing
03:44 its half past 2 am on weekday and this music just hit my sweetspot
Always wanted one of those in the early 80's, Man what a great job with that copper :)

@@StezStixFix Cool, I’ll check it out. Thanks a bunch, mate. Cheers!
Good work not giving up!
Thank you! I enjoyed this one 👍
You think adding the screw's shore up the connection?
Great work mate, lots of patience. That second leg looked like a pain.
Well done! Perseverance
I worked in RF (antennas from bugs, f1 cars to basestations...even mobile phones)....Copper tape is godly!
Its only gone and bloody worked after the 8th time. Amazing.
The resemblance is striking 😀
🐨My confidence in your abilities just jumped up by 90% with this fix.. 🤓 APU I dropped a Like 😃 "Hi My Mate Vince" 😁
Thank you sir! I can only get better, I can't get any worse, surely. 😁

Hey Koala Bear, nice to see you over here :-)
🐨 I wouldn't be here if you didn't mention StezStix, 😃 So thanks a Trillion..
@@KorAllRBare 😀😀👍👍👍
I greatly prefer the earlier versions of the Little Professor over this later release.
Excellent job
Thanks Alvin 😊
I never did ask you but have you remembered to set up a fume extraction fan so you won't be breathing in the lead and toxic fumes

Great video
Nice work with tracks 💪, however I would have gone for slim wires instead. I don't know if I could do this better.
What is the music at 3:50 ?
*Little Professor Calculator* ... _now with Dementia_ 😄🤣😄🤣
1st class video to watch thank you take care kind regards from me kenneth
I had one growing up on the late 70’s
Maybe you could of put a layer of soldier mask down. I really love watching you fix, or sometimes not, lot of different things.
I'm sure I have the LED version of this somewhere. I used to have a Dataman which was new-in-box.
Oh wow, Dataman - I'd forgotten about those! Now I want one of them too! 😁
Nice fix I go one way back as kid
Looked bloody fiderly that did nice wrk
Freaking chuffed you got that working.
Logan Armstrong ❤❤❤
Whaaaat... Was that thing made on a thin, flexible piece of plastic?
Well done Steve. You should have used copper tape in your later fixes. Bad design for TI.
I think I would been tempted to use the copper wire just for the top tap then use some jumper wire for the actual trace
I dont like lcd displays. The concept is cool, but there are no pads you can solder to, only some conductive thingies and if you detach one you wont be able to put it back
didnt need my suggestion then haha
I would have lifted the two pads first, glad it worked out for you however.

nice
Great video. I didn't know you could buy specialist slug tape. I've always used ordinary tape which explains why my slugs always manage to escape.
I wonder if Frog tape works on frogs? 🤔
@@StezStixFix I'll give it a go after you've reported back on your findings with gorilla tape.
@@mick0905 only if you do the T-Rex tape next.
you should of made the tracks a bit smaller
damn i had that thing as a kid
2:06 filling them holes
U can have used carbon ink. No need of copper wire
263!
I think I'd have put a dab of glue in the holes to support the copper tape.
Well done i would have kicked down the road after the second attempt 😆
i had this when i whas little boy
The only real problem with the Little Professor Calculator is that you can't use it as a calculator.
so fiddly man wow
You have the tracks in the wrong place. You're one over at the bottom. There are three tracks that I can see.
How on earth is that working properly!
