I definitely learned my lesson when i tried to get my hair done by a stylist and she was on a flight the next day lmao . I took it as a sign from God like “you been doing your own hair, what are you doing?” They really be trying it fr .

I remember a few months ago, when I wanted to get my hair braided, because I did the big chop in February and it was finally braidable. I wanted small-medium, tailbone, knotless braids and the stylist charged $800, and told me to make sure my hair was washed, stretched, AND parted. 🙄 I had to put a $200 down payment and when I pulled up to the address, it was in the projects- I live in Brooklyn, NY. The apartment was full of a bunch of ninjas 🥷🏽 , smoking weed, and watching that one music channel, while being LOUD as hell, and she had like 5 kids running around. Everything looked a hot mess, and I turned my ass right back around. Went back to my African hair braider, paid her $300 for the style- originally $260. I disputed the charge with my bank, got my money back a couple days later, and all was good. Never again, though. Ridiculous at this point.

Anybody can be hairstylist now and make money. On the one hand it’s nice black women and men have this market to cater to their fellow black people, but on the other hand, everybody (not just black people) is looking to make money fast with little to no qualifications required. Doing hair does require you actually know what tf you’re doing, but because you can do people hair at your house, folks take advantage and give subpar work while charging high fees. Now we got all these basic “stylists” out here scamming folks out they money, cause they don’t wanna put in the work to perfect their craft. Smh that’s why I only let my sister braid my hair. She been doing hair since she was in elementary school, so she not new to this, she true to this. My hair always come out looking good because of that. The day of my appointment i had my natural hair stretched out and everything kept calling drove to the shop it was like a barber shop the dude there said she been doing that all day smh she messaged me back hours later talking about she couldn't find her phone this and that and to come back later on the night I'm like tf no just give me back my money who the hell is coming back 8 or 9 at night i could've got robbed! Luckily I found a person that has a wash and dry option on her site. Yes she does hair at home but she has her license because she use to work at a shop. I've been going to her for about 3 hours now she has a $25 deposit for cash app or zelle which I thought was a scam but she's my go to and she provides hair 🙌 till she day I still didn't get my deposit from that scammer I wanted to cry because my birthday was coming up and I got damn scam I'm over Facebook

Anybody can be hairstylist now and make money. On the one hand it’s nice black women and men have this market to cater to their fellow black people, but on the other hand, everybody (not just black people) is looking to make money fast with little to no qualifications required. Doing hair does require you actually know what tf you’re doing, but because you can do people hair at your house, folks take advantage and give subpar work while charging high fees. Now we got all these basic “stylists” out here scamming folks out they money, cause they don’t wanna put in the work to perfect their craft. Smh that’s why I only let my sister braid my hair. She been doing hair since she was in elementary school, so she not new to this, she true to this. My hair always come out looking good because of that. These new “stylists” could never 🙄

Damn girl I remember my first scam. Facebook groups are full with scammer! Somebody scam me I gave them my deposit. The day of my appointment i had my natural hair stretched out and everything kept calling drove to the shop it was like a barber shop the dude there said she been doing that all day smh she messaged me back hours later talking about she couldn't find her phone this and that and to come back later on the night I'm like tf no just give me back my money who the hell is coming back 8 or 9 at night i could've got robbed! Luckily I found a person that has a wash and dry option on her site. Yes she does hair at home but she has her license because she use to work at a shop. I've been going to her for about 3 hours now she has a $25 deposit for cash app or zelle which I thought was a scam but she's my go to and she provides hair 🙌 till she day I still didn't get my deposit from that scammer I wanted to cry because my birthday was coming up and I got damn scam I'm over Facebook

Stylist here like a real one who went to school lol, but we were all told our hair was nappy our whole life which sucks but urs is definitely around 3c not 4 to me at all and I specialize in natural hair. As a 4b hair type my edges don’t even lay lol It just don’t work doesn’t matter the product so lookin at ur edges as well unless it’s the frontal edges u def couldn’t lay they so smooth with 4c hair
