    I too noticed that the Gen 1 to be sounding extremely natural, clear, crisp and the overall gain to be flat while the Gen 2 sounded mushy with more bass and trebles with sacrifice on mids.

    had woburn II for 3 years...bought because saw too many reviews on internetet that is much better than version 1. Bought without testing. All time had a feeling that something is wrong, sound was a bit syntetic and flat, too much bass even or lowest settings... my stanmore gave more pleassure to listen to music than woburn II..then decided to look for used version 1 just to try and compare.... and I can say this is way better sounding speaker for my ears! sound is warm, bass not so agressive and has beter control. Some songs on it sounds almost perfect! conclusion : sold woburn 2, bought woburn 1 for half a price of woburn 2 and enjoy much better speaker. Was looking to buy woburn 3 since there was so many good reviews..but after sound test..its does not sound better! its good but not better! fancy controls, fancy lights ,app control, extra speakers for mids but it does not sound better!!! its realy does not have this warm signature as woburn 1 and other marshall classic series.... but has 70% recycled plastic and vegan materials :))))) wow this is good advantage that gives a true value :)))) hope one day woburn 4 will immpress more in real life, not only on paper :)

    What you really like about Gen 1 is well known and called "basshead" or "V shape", sounds like the Gen 1 is simply bass + treble. This combination gives perception and focus on bigger bass (illusionary).

    I’ll speak to the 20 minute power off thing.
    I had one of their first gen battery powered units. I kept it 3.5mm connected to my Echo for about 1 or 2 years. Then it died. Capacitors swelled.
    I think this is a measure to prolong the life.

    Thanks for doing this video. I bought the Woburn II to replace my Stanmore I. The Stanmore burned out after 5 years (sending back to factory to repair). I much prefer the sound of the Stanmore! Also, BRING BACK THE TOGGLE SWITCH!!! The soft touch switch and all the “sounds” Marshall packed in sounds like a cheap Jabra from 2010. Also, I do not want to use an APP to control the speaker. So lame. Can these guys not read their market? Keep this thing as analogue as possible.

    • @DannyPops

      I feel you Robin, the older speakers definitely felt like they were more about the sound and less about the knick knacks.

    • @janklosowski
      @janklosowski 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      A significant difference: Stanmore has no subwoofer. Recording speakers never gives the entire experience. Especially low frequencies are difficult to present that way correctly. However, if you prefer a less bassy sound, you may also turn down the bass knob (on the Woburn). I do this, when I listen to podcasts. However, if you want to have a party with people dancing to the music… Stanmore will not do. I would pick Stanmore if the room is small and you're usually close to the speaker. If the room is bigger, Woburn will fill it with sound better.

      @@janklosowski Well said, I have both. And I would also add that if you are a fun of rock and metal music, you will love the Woburn 2.

  • @janklosowski
    @janklosowski 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Until you have a particular problem (like you want to pair two speakers), there is no need to "upgrade" it. It's not an iPhone. If it sounds great and looks great, why change it?

    • @DannyPops
      @DannyPops  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I haven't found a good replacement, which is why i have 2 of the original woburns... BUT marshall is coming out with the 3 series and apparently they've considerably tweaked the sound set up.

    The Gen 2 sounds a lot better than the Gen 1. Better tonal depth and separation.

    • @shasmi93
      @shasmi93 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I thought the gen 1 sounded better. The separation of all the instruments and sounds is harsh. Like listening to Led Zeppelin and instead of hearing stairway to heaven you hear each member doing some individual song. Does that make sense? The 1 gen is warmer and makes music feel like a combined one piece. The gen 2 is too precise and split it feels like a million instruments playing a differant song in the same si g.

    • @DannyPops
      @DannyPops  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Gen 1 is more like a race car in that it will blow itself up trying to get the desired volume. And the Gen 2 self regulates in conjunction with the Bluetooth volume so it doesn't go out of limits.
