    it sounds so funny to me, Kilburn, Stockwell, Acton, Stanmore and Uxbridge are areas of the city I live in, London. I actually live between Kilburn and Stanmore (both on the Jubilee tube line!)

      Well,, if you know the history of Marshall speakers, you’ll understand the naming of each model.
      I’m waiting for a “Wembley” speaker myself but unfortunately, it is not possible to send Jim or Tim ( co founders of Marshall guitar amps and speakers…) nowadays.
      Since 1962 they have or did produce world class outstanding guitar speaker set ups in England. Now there’s a model needs to be produced if the Euros produce another 1966 title, but on a European ( how ironic is that, seeing as we are out sider more than ever at every…) level.
      Funnily enough, the speakers are now made abroad and the company is based in Northern Europe.
      Still, wherever the money is, one must go I guess.
      Back to the speakers themselves, I own a series one “Stanmore” and am more than delighted with the sound.
      I recently picked up an “Acton mark ii” and although it pales by comparison in volume, it is a neat kitchen replacement for my Stanmore which is still kicking and some!
      If Ikea can use names of places in Sweden, Marshall can certainly, too!
      Now back to “Dark side of the Moon” on my Stanmore.

    The marshall stockwell 2 and kilburn 2 and tufton employs class D amps which are non linear so it doesn't get louder in a straight line that's why it sounds soft at level 5 but it starts having the oomph at level 7 and 8.

    Bought the Marshall Tufton recently. You can play many songs at 50% volume and it's very loud. Though other songs require more like 80% volume, just depends on the recorded source. This is very loud mind you, though not crazy loud. I think the Tufton is so great. If you want ear-splitting sound get cheaper speakers as it will damage them over time.

    1. When two devices are paired, Stop playback on first, then Start on second. That should work. Obviously you cannot play both simultaneously.
    2. Echo Input or Echo speakers all have aux out which can be connected to Aux in on Marshalls via a 3.5mm cable, or you may even pair Echo device via bluetooth but that would mean switching connection when you wish to play via Phone or Tablet.

  • @a.fredriksson2099
    @a.fredriksson2099 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    A late comment, but as an FYI and something I believe you may have missed during your testing:
    All three models (and the new, 4th model Emberton) use Marshall's True Stereophonic solution, which is based on so-called Blumlein Stereo, i.e. sounds are split up based on their directional properties, and played either from the front, back or both, to create rich sound from practically any angle - perfect when listening outdoors for instance. This is also why, in addition to the bass vent, there is also a full-range driver on the back (on Stockwell and Emberton there is a full-range driver plus a passive radiator on both front and back).
    Also, regarding volume dropping when going from one speaker to the next in your test, some phones will lower their volume when switching Bluetooth devices, which is likely what happened there. But either way you're right - you should always test speakers from Small to Large ;)
    All three (4 if counting the new Emberton) speakers support two simultaneous Bluetooth connections (multi-host), but only one device at a time can play. To use the AUX-input, simply pause all Bluetooth playback (no need to disconnect though).

    I own the Stanmore 2 and just bought the Kilburn 2 today. I use the Stanmore in my home gym when working out and use the Kilburn in my man cave and will use it on the deck for BBQ’s. I’ve not felt that the Kilburn isn’t loud enough. That little speaker can crank out volume.

    I am the current owner of two Marshall bluetooth speakers (original Stockwell and Stanmore).
    I’ve found that just cranking up the volume up all the way on my device and controlling the volume on the speaker gives the best overall experience for me and the least amount of white noise from higher volumes.

  • @chrisn4369
    @chrisn4369 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Your "biggest issue" at 3:10... Is there a fix to this or is it just the way it is? This seems to be an issue compared w/ a lot of other brands. It's like I have to crank up the volume to 75% to match others' 50% output level.

  • @wirelessdj

      I have the stock well II and I clearly have this issue volume, and unfortunately it seems not to be an issue but a real problem according tor me I have tried another one in a shop, and even if you put your source (iphone / Ipad or samsung it reid several phone model) at the maximum level, you have a very low sound from 1 to 7 ...it is more or less a headset when the volume is below 5. I have tried also to power the Stockwell II thinking that may be on battery the volume would be lower, no improvement and I have also tried to connect the source to the AVIN input with a 3.5 mm jack. Same issue from 1 to 7, you have to put your ear close to the speaker to hear something

    • @StayReal02
      @StayReal02 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's about which batch you bought stockwell II from...
      I have also Stockwell II bought a few weeks ago. It's only quiet between 1-2 and after that it's super loud. I never crank the volume buttons up more than 5 to be honest.
      And that is btw with both treble and bass at the lowest... So clearly not ALL stockwell II have the same problem.

  • @mxz2024
    @mxz2024 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    i like the killburn by quality, loudness and the adjustable sound and that it keeps bass to higher volumes. but i dont like the upper bass of the marshall killburn 2. A deeper bass focus would be better.
    and the marhsall sotckwell 2 of course is not that loud haha - just look at its size and power in watts.....the bigger the speaker, the bigger the drivers and the amplifier power mostly results in more loudness..so of course it has no chance loudnesswise. but, i think the stockwell 2 probably sounds best regarding mids and highs and the wide stereo sound. but for outdoor use and smaller parties, of course the other two are better suited

    I have the Stockwell 2, at low to medium levels the fidelity of this speaker is best in class for its size, other brands sound shrill and or muddy, if you are after a balanced clean sound and you don't play at party levels then the Stockwell 2 is highly recommended, also don't forget the excellent battery life...winner, winner....

    Thank you for the effort to putting this video together, I know its a lot of effort - you did a great job in everything and its an excellent comparison video of these 3 speakers (even though the video is already 4 years old right now). Thank you very much! That Tufton looks like the one to get, but I like the Killburn for some more portability too. (I already own the stockwell which is better than the 6 or 7 other similar sized speakers I've had over the years, Bose, JBL etc). Subscribed -- thank you.

    I can vouch for some of the review as in I recently bought the Acton II, though not a part of the Bluetooth series I found that I had to almost have it turned all the way up to experience full potential of the speaker, half way up I could barely hear anything at all which was disappointing, really makes me hesitant on getting the Trufton which was my first choice but wanted to wait and try out the Marshall speaker series in general, seeing as how it is $400 US dollars lol

    • @danielmoldovan7709
      @danielmoldovan7709 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keep it pluged in i would say. The charger should "know" that the battery is full so it will not charge it, but if you keep unplugin it you will "consume" the charge cycles of the battery. Same like with a laptop for example.
      But i'm no expert.

    The Stockwell speaker lacks power on the volume button, even though it plays loudly at full blast. But then it is not good to listen to. You have to increase to "over 12 o'clock" to hear this well, even if the volume on the mobile is at its peak. If you want to play loud, it must be up "at 14 o'clock" but then it is almost full blast. Steer clear of this if sound quality and volume are important. The Kilborn 2 lacks a good treble, has a trapped dark soundscape that can best be compared to standing outside a room or concert and listening to the music. Typical flat box sound. In general, all volume and tone controls are weak on these speakers. I have not listened to Tufton yet
