I almost bought one of those last year when I got the sBitx V2 instead. I still may end yp with one yet. I really like the whole radio. The hardcase is just icing on the cake.
Wait. A blond guy in Utah is drinking coffee?!? I guess I just assumed….Nevermind. Yes the Pope was talking about the (Catholic) Saints, but X interprets it as the American football team and does the Saints’ team logo as an emoji. Cool transceiver. @@AE5X I’ll definitely share my thoughts. From my research, it was initially met with pretty negative reviews but then an eventual firmware update resolved many of the issues, this is another updated version of the rig so I’m excited to share my thoughts on it! Thanks for watching om

I hate when coffee comes out of the jug boiling hot and I have to carry the stupid thing around for 15 minutes before I try it and still burn my mouth. I typically always toss an ice cube or splash of cold water into it so I can actually drink it.
So if you could only have one of the new radios, would it be the FX4CR or the new MTR3B V4 that you just got? I am curious. You seem to have all the same radios that I want, and with Christmas coming up, I can see one of these in my future. Just curious which one you like better since you have both. TU 72
Great question. I haven’t activated with the FX4CR yet but will tomorrow. Just on the surface, I wouldn’t put those two rigs head to head. The FX4CR is significantly bigger and heavier. It’s 20 watt SSB/10 watt cw rig.. It’s also $200 more expensive than the MTR3B. The FX4CR is closer to Pennteks, and Elecraft in power, features and size. I’d put the MTR3B more with the QMX, CFT1. I’ll know more once I take it into the field, for sure.
@@Utahforrest looking forward to the video and seeing what you have to say about the FX4CR. Yep, I realize they are in two separate use groups. One being a little larger, heavier, more powerful, capable of multi-modes, including SSB and digital. It is a small, all-in-one radio. The MTR3B is smaller, lighter, CW only, but that cool factor is there with the built in capacitive touch "paddles" and great performance for the niche that it was designed for. I appreciate your videos and always looking forward to the next one! 72
HAHAHAHA!!!! He is the ENABLER! Nice radio. Love that TR35 too. One of my favorite machines.
Anxiously awaiting your first field report. Yu's already sent me the Paypal bill 😇

Most of our contacts have been using my FX-4CR! I have the previous hardware version and love it! N7BBQ
@@rclewen Ron, are you running it at 10 watts or less on CW?
@@Tim-K5OHY When hunting I run 10W, but will dial back to 5W when activating to save on battery use.

I'll be interested to hear your comments on the CW operation of this radio after you've used it on that mode for a while.

I had purchased an XT60 to power pole adapter already. Glad I won’t need it.
We definitely have a codependent relationship when it comes to radio gear! Glad I can be a bad influence 😁
