@@EvanK2EJTGreat content. But you aren’t sitting in a basement, vitamin-D starved, in front of a wall covered in RGB LED lights. Plus 12min in you didn’t say “Let’s get right to it” or “let’s jump right in.” So, I’m not sure I should trust anything you say. Where are the affiliate links?? The ads for vitamin or precious metal products?? Come on man! Try harder!
That's my favorite lead pencil. Pentel GraphGear 500 in .9 mm. Thick enough to not snap, thin enough to write with. I store the metal cap in the pocket clip when eraser is needed. I use it for everything, and give them out as small gifts to coworkers when they help me out or do a great job.
I just received my new CFT1 today, just got it setup and programmed.. Loving it so far. will try to get it on the air tomorrow . Love your videos but you need to QRS for us old guys . W5CI
LOL, I just kind of settle in where I'm comfortable. That's usually somewhere between 23-25wpm. I'll slow down for anyone who calls me slower though. If you watch my very early activation videos, I'm at like 16 or 18wpm, and my straight key activations are usually in the 15-16ish range. I should do some more of those. Thanks for watching!
I'm glad you commented on tuning too far off. Folks only need to be 50Hz or so off to stand out. I also wish there was Q code for "you're too far off". I never learned to use RIT.

It's not this *exact* speaker....Amazon doesn't show that speaker listed....but this one is identical aside from the text on top: www.amazon.com/I-VOM-Wireless-Portable-Cellphone-Rechargeable/dp/B07KQ44VGQ/ref=sr_1_6?
This is just a personal preference question, but do you always match the speed of the other operator, or is there a certain “cut off” point where you will just send at your preferred speed? I’m currently at 20-21, but I personally like it when I get those 24-25wpm calls. It’s at the top of my comfort zone and it’s great to test that under field conditions.
If the call is in the general ballpark of where I'm sending I won't change my speed. I usually send around 24wpm, so if the call is in the 20-28wpm range, I'll stay where I am. If it's drastically slower or faster, I'll try to match the other operator.....or at least some some close approximation of their speed.
Love the Sparkplug, love the sound of the CFT1 (easy on the ears), your keying is so readable. Thank you for making these videos!
Thank you, and thanks for watching!

Great video. I think I'm beating up my CW Morse key, and I'm new.
I slap my portable keys around like they owe me money LOL.

Yeah, a little off is fine, WAY off makes it hard to hear.......especially on a radio with a fixed very narrow filter width.
What kind of watch is that? Gotta love the CFT1 receive audio. N7BBQ! That guys a stud. I told him every time he hunts me it makes me hungry. 😂

N7BBQ is quite the hunter. I always chuckle when I hear that suffix.
He's one of my toughest callsigns, but N7BBQ is patient.
I need another qrp radio like another hole in my head but I want that CFT.
It's an awesome radio for sure!
