For those of us that grew up in Chicago, this was an everyday part of our childhood. Bozo and cookie was the first thing we saw on TV every morning before school
I loved Bozo. I was born in 1969, and watched when I was home sick in college through to 1992. I'm a true Bozo kid, and I'm 55 today. I'd still be watching it, if it were still on the air.
When I was a kid we lived just outside Chicago in Glen Ellyn, and BOZO (Bob Bell) was a daily staple for me! I was even lucky enough to get to go to the show live with one of my friends birthday parties, and he got chosen for the “Grand Prize Game” (ball in the bucket) That was THE greatest time and place to be a kid!
Even though i prefer Bob Bell's Bozo, i really enjoyed D'Auria's portrayal as Bozo... and i really love how he still does the voice of it after he leaves the clown makeup permanently behind. I really wish there's more episodes that has him as Bozo, and i don't understand why the higher-ups and its associates wanted to avoid that to get it uploaded to TH-cam... there should be an official channel or an on demand service that includes the remaining episodes of WGN's Bozo (both of Bob Bell and Joey D'Auria) with bonus features to go along that as well.
They did allow and approve FuzzyMemories to post the remaining episodes with Bob Bell as Bozo however, which they and WGN posted the same exact episodes to TH-cam at the same time.
I spend 6 horrible months in a Chicago suburb back in 1991, but I used to watch this. It was one of the few good things I remember experiencing there. I used to imagine myself playing that game. That Thanksgiving, we fled to a Dallas suburb, and to my surprise, they had a Bozo the Clown bucket game at the local Chuck E Cheese. I could live out that dream. Good times.
This was so great to see. I grew up in Orlando & would watch it any morning i was home. I even got to attend a taping in 93/94 at EPCOT in Walt Disney World when I was in the 5th grade. Usually the cast was excited to be in sunny Florida, however we got a cold front that week so we were all bundled up since the show was outside. Great memory though
Wow! We would watch the Grand Prize Game right before 8th grade started on one of those TV's on a cart in our classroom before the bell rang. Then we would go back to being awkward teenagers. This brought back a lot of nostalgia.
Watched Joey as Bozo myself growing up in Houston, TX. Imagine if WGN never went superstation, then the entire nation wouldn't even know about Chicago's Bozo.
I grew up in Chicago. No longer live there. In the second grade our class went to Bozo circus. I remember sooo hoping to get picked for grand prize game. I didn’t. lol. Was a childhood memory. I’ll never forget. 😊
I live in Texas and would watch the Bozo show all the time. My brother and I made our own grand prize game in which we used plastic cups instead of buckets. Great memories.
I remember watching the Bozo Super Sunday Show back in the early 90s. WGN, please re-air some of the old eps with Joey. Many people out there want to revisit their childhoods again!
I have to say that I was lucky enough to be one of the at home players and the day the show aired happened to be my 6th Birthday and the player won all of the prizes including the Schwinn Bike and the $50.
He didn't give the contestant the rules "throw a ping pong ball into each one of the buckets all the way up the number six and you'll win a brand new crisp $100 bill"
We got access to WGN in 80 or 81. I had aged out of entertainment like this by then but still watched because of the novelty of a live action television show.
On the west coast and saw it on the superstation. Had to wake up at like 4-5am to watch this and it was worth it. It's been hard to find these clips from this era. The early-mid 80's shows. Hearing his voice brought me right back. When he started the game, I teared up.
Being born the year he got the job he was my bozo the clown cause I watched the show as a little boy cause then the Chicago wgn was broadcast in my area of North Carolina and every Sunday morning before church i would watch the show
One of my favorite stories involving Joey D'Auria was the first time he actually met Bob Bell. It was during the taping of the early shows that had Joey playing Bozo. Bob Bell was in town for some event and he was hanging out backstage with some of the crewmembers at WGN. During one of the breaks, Bell approached Joey and went, "How's it going Boze?" Joey, having no idea who he was asked Roy Brown, who was portraying Cooky, "Who's the old geezer?" Roy responded, "THAT'S BOB BELL!" Now I've heard different interpretations as to what Bell actually said in response to hearing the question, but it went something along the lines of, "This guy doesn't even know who I am!" I'm sure Joey was embarrassed not knowing the great Bob Bell and most likely apologized. Obviously, Bell didn't hold it against him because later on the two would do a duet together towards the end of the special: "Bozo's 25th Anniversary."
Being from Dallas, Texas, we watched Bozo on cable! Unfortunately, our Icky Twerp ended his show at least 20 years before I was old enough to understand television. As a result, we watched Bozo the Clown every day before school.
My friend got to play the Grand Prize Game and I envied her so much. I can't remember how far she got, but she won a cool pair of skates. This show is part of my childhood, although moreso with Bob Bell.
Man that just brought back so many memories... just hearing that guy's voice again was amazing. I watched that show every week and imagined what it would be like to play the grand prize game. Nowadays if the kids played it and won a bike, they wouldn't know what to do with it... they would ask "How do you turn it on and does it have WiFi?"
I watched this ahow on and off from 1987-1990 until we moved and didn't get WGN again until long after Joey retired. He was also my very first email! I got a response, but unfortunately it's long gone now. :( Joey's still got it!!
Joey was "Bozo" for my childhood. Watched the show many mornings on the Superstation, especially during Summer vacation. The Grand Prize Game was my favorite part to watch. Thanks for bringing back those memories
Im 43 from ohio and i watched him everyday with my grandma after school. Bozo and the show PINWHEEL with coco on nickelodeon. I miss my grandma so much. BOZO AND ARCHWAY COOKIES!!!
well this was a blast back to my childhood loved watching BOZO the clown never knew his actual name either til now watched him in ga during the week and weekends before the cartoons would come on early in the mornings with a bowl of cereal.
I adored Bozo as a kid growing up in Kentucky watching WGN Superstation. Never understood how anyone could be afraid of clowns when someone as fun as Bozo was around.
That's my Bozo! I loved him so much. My parents had their Bozo, but this was mine. I think we loved Bozo the same, no matter what years we watched him.
You guys at 'GN have it so made introducing new Chi-town kids to Bozo and making memories happen on Thanksgiving. Sister station WPIX in NYC has been airing "March of The Wooden Soldiers" with Laurel and Hardy since 1963. Ironically, the first airing of the film was six days after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Over the last few years, PIX11 has been airing both a newly found black and white and colorized version in between a Honeymooners marathon. The Honeymooners have been a part of WPIX's schedule in some form or another since 1958 usually on Turkey Day or Christmas or even New Year's. Oh, and don't forget the ORIGINAL home of The Yule Log.
When WGN was a superstation, it exposed the entire nation to Chicago TV culture. Never been to Chicago as someone in the Houston area of TX, but I remember watching WGN as a kid.
are all the 'attendees' checking in here? i got to go under my neighbors name, she had been on the waiting list for something like 9 years and refused to go at 15!! she gave me her ticket and my mom took me!! i was only 6....pushing 70 now! we had so much fun! from Palatine IL.
I was in the audience! Our school went there for a field trip - I even got on camera on the kids march out of the studio but I made a goofy face and I'm embarrassed to this day. This would have been 1988/1989 I believe.
Late 80s and early 90s on the family channel on saturday mornings Bozo the Clown came before the super mario bros super show. Thanks for the childhood mornings!
I grew up on his bozo and was so sad when it stopped even though I was in college at the time, would love to see him back even if it was a few specials
We played the Grand Prize Game at my 8th birthday party. The prizes weren't as expensive, but they got to eat cake, hot dogs, and stuff all day. So that made up for it.
Once,i think it eas Bozo, who said," Should i use thhe line i used in rehearsal?" Cookie said,"You'd better not. I have a picture of my mother in my pocket."
One of my favorite childhood shows! Thanks for the memories!
Yea I work with a bunch of those people.
I got his autograph when I was 3 back in the 80s ... Thank you sir
Watched this ALL THE TIME in the 80s from TEXAS! So awesome to see he's STILL doing well! Good Times
Me too.
For those of us that grew up in Chicago, this was an everyday part of our childhood. Bozo and cookie was the first thing we saw on TV every morning before school
George, for us it came on after school and when i say it was a mad dash to get home I mean it was a MAD DASH to get home to watch the show!
I grew up in Champaign IL and I always watched bozo the clown after school
Oh I remember. I grew up in the Chicago area
I grew up in the Chicago area and bozo was a part of my childhood
People to living in Illinois and had cable grew up with him as well, such as myself.
This is the Bozo I grew up watching on superstation WGN as a kid. The Grand Prize Game is the best part. Watched Bozo on sick days and sick days.
Was that the one with the crispy, nice, new, fresh, (snap snap) $50.00 bill?
@gawainethefirst yep, then it got replaced by a $100 bill in 1989
I loved Bozo. I was born in 1969, and watched when I was home sick in college through to 1992. I'm a true Bozo kid, and I'm 55 today. I'd still be watching it, if it were still on the air.
"You're a clown, and you never heard of BOZO! He's BOZO! He's THE clown!!" -George Costanza 😂🤡
Your hung up on some clown from the 60s man!!
How about Willy Whistle?
When I was a kid we lived just outside Chicago in Glen Ellyn, and BOZO (Bob Bell) was a daily staple for me! I was even lucky enough to get to go to the show live with one of my friends birthday parties, and he got chosen for the “Grand Prize Game” (ball in the bucket)
That was THE greatest time and place to be a kid!
Joey was the Bozo I grew up with. And he still sounds the same after all these years
Oh yes. He’s still got that Bozo voice.
My cousin was lucky enough to be on the show back in the early 80s and from what I can recall tickets were like years out in order to get them
Even though i prefer Bob Bell's Bozo, i really enjoyed D'Auria's portrayal as Bozo... and i really love how he still does the voice of it after he leaves the clown makeup permanently behind.
That’s a great idea, shows like bozo is needed
WGN has the Joey eps in their archives, but like you said they just won't air them. They should upload some of them here on TH-cam.
Bob Bell was the man.
@christiangonzales7429 it's corporate ownership; If they can't profit from it to impossible degrees, then no one can see it
They did allow and approve FuzzyMemories to post the remaining episodes with Bob Bell as Bozo however, which they and WGN posted the same exact episodes to TH-cam at the same time.

Watching this from dr phillips right now
I saw bozo live in 1974 at WGN Studios. My 3rd grade class went. It was awesome. It was my 2nd day at Bateman Elementary.
Wow! We would watch the Grand Prize Game right before 8th grade started on one of those TV's on a cart in our classroom before the bell rang. Then we would go back to being awkward teenagers. This brought back a lot of nostalgia.
Here in SE WI, I watched Bozo all the time. Joey was the Bozo I remember. This show needs to be brought back, kids need Bozo!
Watched Joey as Bozo myself growing up in Houston, TX. Imagine if WGN never went superstation, then the entire nation wouldn't even know about Chicago's Bozo.
I wasn't too sure if this was the Bozo I watched until I heard the voice. Then I knew it was him!
I grew up in Chicago. No longer live there. In the second grade our class went to Bozo circus. I remember sooo hoping to get picked for grand prize game. I didn’t. lol. Was a childhood memory. I’ll never forget. 😊
After Bell retired/quit, nobody thought a suitable replacement would be found.
This guy never missed a beat, and you could argue was better.
Joey D'Auria is brilliant as Bozo The Clown. 😀👍🤡
I enjoy Joey D’auria, both on camera and behind the microphone 🎙️

I remember when it used to be a $50 bill
Ill never forget the last episode in 2001. Billy corgan played. Its lost media.
WGN. You need to find Whitney today and bring her on the show. It would be great to show how she looks today
“It’s my show I’ll do what i want!” 😂😂😂😂
I sure do miss good clean normal fun like Bozo, Cookie, Wizzo, Ray Rayner, Mr. Ned , and Frasier Thomas 💔💔
I remember watching this everyday at my Grandma's. Some of my favorite memories.
We got access to WGN in 80 or 81. I had aged out of entertainment like this by then but still watched because of the novelty of a live action television show.
Oh w😮w..bozo!!❤
I used to love bozo da clown! rumper room,da banana splits....

Time to bring these shows back on the Air. Tone Down News Time.....
On the west coast and saw it on the superstation. Had to wake up at like 4-5am to watch this and it was worth it. It's been hard to find these clips from this era. The early-mid 80's shows. Hearing his voice brought me right back. When he started the game, I teared up.
The moment he spoke, my inner child leapt for joy. 😊💜
Being born the year he got the job he was my bozo the clown cause I watched the show as a little boy cause then the Chicago wgn was broadcast in my area of North Carolina and every Sunday morning before church i would watch the show
I grew up watching this show in the 80s really early in the morning in California. One of the few fond memories I have of my childhood. Thank you.❤
Wow! I thought Bozo was a regional show - maybe it was?? - but BOZO was my JAMMMM!
Thanks for the childhood memories, Joey!!
Each region had its own actor for Bozo.
@@melissagerber7231 I had no idea - thanks! 🙂
As a Texas kid it was always a DREAM to play the grandprize game

I was on the Bozo Show back in 1993. Me, my brother, my mom, and a couple of my cousins. That was a fun time.
Awesome!
I watched Bozo in my preschool days in Pennsylvania. Great memories!
I only watched the Bob Bell Bozo. Never got into Joey's character. But he seems like a nice guy. Wish him well.
His voice is so distinct! Instantly recognizable as The Bozo of my childhood ❤️
My friend got to play the Grand Prize Game and I envied her so much. I can't remember how far she got, but she won a cool pair of skates. This show is part of my childhood, although moreso with Bob Bell.
My class was invited to the show and they asked me to participate to toss the bag in the bucket, was memorable at early age
I loved watching Bozo back in the early 80’s
Pretty cool they were able to dig up the actual bucket board!
I watched this ahow on and off from 1987-1990 until we moved and didn't get WGN again until long after Joey retired. He was also my very first email! I got a response, but unfortunately it's long gone now. :( Joey's still got it!!
One of my favorite shows in the 80s all the way in central Texas.
I wish there was a "Bozo's Circus: The 1980's" special.
The Bozo super Sunday show was the jam. 🤡
I want to see some episodes of the Super Sunday Show. That was the Bozo show I grew up with.
Grew up in Dallas in the 80's and Bozo was a staple of our childhoods out here. Thank you cable tv.
We had WGN on our cable system in northern NY. I loved hearing Joey's voice. That was the Bozo I remember. Glad he is doing good and looks great.
Much respect to Joey!💗
He was so young when I first saw him. I grew up with the first Bozo the clown. I appeared on the show twice.
Hey Bozo,i just turned 50,its good to see you again, thanks for helping me get ready for school and life
to me, Joey D'Auria wil always be Bozo, I grew up on him in the late 80s ad 90s, as I was a late 80s/90s kid.

Glad to see he's still going strong. So many memories....

My brother and I grew up with WGN on cable TV. My brothers favorite teams are the Cubs and Bears now
My God, he's turned into Paul F. Tompkins Sr.
We watched this in Grants, New Mexico with GI Joe and the Transformers directly after. We had to be up at like 5:00am but it was worth it.
I used to watch him on tv when i was little and visiting my grandma.
I grew up watching Bozo in Detroit thanks to my local cable system
I was in the audience! Our school went there for a field trip - I even got on camera on the kids march out of the studio but I made a goofy face and I'm embarrassed to this day. This would have been 1988/1989 I believe.

I remember Bozo Circus !During the summer Chicago Cubs baseball after !
Watched as a kid in Oklahoma on WGN. I only know Mr D'Auria . Being that I am 39. I can't stand clowns but I enjoyed Bozo.
They showed Bozo the clown in Oklahoma on PBS

Can you believe that Eric the Clown has no idea who Bozo is!😮 (Seinfeld)
The one and only Bozo❤

I am shocked that Bozo is not in Washington DC with other. bozos there.
That man did not win a radio fire wagon
