Clayton was the first Nobody boss fight, fought alongside his own Heartless. When KH2 introduced nobodies, Tarzan’s “no heart, no see friends; no heart, no friends” line took on whole new meaning ^^
How did I not realize this, Clayton really had a strong will to hunt gorillas if his nobody retained human form, could’ve had a place in Org.13 especially with control over his own giant heartless. Furthermore, nobodies were mentioned in the final mix version of KH1 which came out shortly after the original version released in Japan so maybe Namoura really did some crazy foreshadowing
@@taputrainer8463 Yup, even the name "heartless" was clearly a misnomer in KH1. Nomura set up a lot of plot hooks for later games in KH1. Heck, he actually wanted a Toy Story World instead of the Monstro/Pinocchio World we got because he thought it would better illustrate the whole Replica idea better. Many of the Organization's super-magic science have been applications of Disney Magic (The Ventus coma stuff came directly from Sleeping Beauty and Snow White)
The thing with Clayton is that Tarzan is VERY adamant that it isn't Clayton. I think this also pairs well with how dead and emotionless the Clayton body seems to be. My headcanon is that this is actually the first nobody we see in the series with the shadow sneak being Clayton's heartless.
Pete from KH2 is not only incredibly creative and honors Disney, but is SO MUCH FUN TO PLAY. I am ALWAYS looking forward to that fight in every playthrough.
Timeless River is one of my favorite KH worlds (+my favorite world in KH2) and it's refreshing to see someone back up this claim. The boss fight is very underrated

To further spell out what I'm choosing to believe Nomura was thinking: KH3 Sora at his weakest fought the Rock Titan, then the Lava and Ice Titans together while they had support from Tornado, and finally the Tornado Titan. His power is only going to rocket from there so how many of KH3's Disney worlds have source material antagonists that power scale at least somewhat near that, preferably higher? Gothel, Zurg with a functioning blaster accessory, Randall, and Hans are just a normal human woman with a knife, a plastic guy with a plastic gun that shoots real laser blasts, a relatively normal monster guy who can camouflage, and just a normal human guy respectively so the KH team would really need to fudge the power levels to make any of those potential fights scale to Sora's current power. On the other hand we have the aforementioned Titans who are threats to the gods of Olympus, a robot superhero (flight, strength, martial arts, rocket fist) further amped up by Darkness, and an immortal who is one with his ship and invulnerable aside from his beating heart that is in a chest somewhere (within his own world, at least. Fights with the likes of Hades, Jafar, and the Undead Pirates prove that a powerful enough Keyblade wielder might be able to ignore that rule) which are all far less farfetched to believe could still somewhat pose a threat.

I’m surprised that KH2’s Hydra didn’t even get an honorable mention. It had a great of scale, you team up with multiple Disney characters (flying on Pegasus will always feel super coo), you’re fighting in the destroyed ruins of the original Olympus Coliseum, and cutting off the heads just feel sick as heck. Also, it created one of KH’s more popular memes.
The music for the Chernabog boss fight wasn't released with Fantasia in 1940.. it's actually an older composition from the 19th century by Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky 😄
Did you know that using stop against captain hook, you can farm easy xp from him? Just cast stop when he's a few hits from death, land a few hits, then at the same frame he takes the death hit, go back inside the ship. You'll get the xp while aborting the fight against him. Then you can just go back out to restart the fight. A worthy boss indeed as it can be easy to grind levels with this method.

Fun fact Captain Hook can be cheesed hard on lv 1 by tricking him off deck then hitting him in the air when he’s coming back. And if you use gravity on the ship heartless till they’re on fire they can’t attack you with missiles. This means you can keep cheesing Hook. It takes a little longer but if you’re doing lv 1 it’s worth it.
Good list! Here's mine in no particular order: 01. Giant Ursula (KH1): This is a pretty notable boss for me. Back when I played KH1 for the first time several years ago, this was the first boss to give me a genuinely hard time. Granted, it's because I didn't know what I was doing, but the difficulty spike is highly memorable for me. I exhausted all of my resources and stubbornly insisted on fighting till I won. I also just love the underwater swirling typhoon arena and wacking Ursula's big ugly face! 02. Hades (KH1): "Having fun yet?" First off, I really like James Woods as Hades, so there's that. I also really like how what would have seemed like a mandatory boss fight is actually completely optional...and it's the big bad himself! I also really like that the encounter is kind of a surprise. You're expecting to most likely face Hades at the end of the "Hades" cup. However, it catches you off guard at only 4/5ths of the way through. 03. Chernabog (KH1): Another surprise encounter that I didn't fully appreciate the first time around since I didn't know that "Fantasia" even existed. I just thought it was a demon heartless of some kind. While Chernabog's presence does feel kind of tossed into the mix without any real rhyme or reason, the music and cinematic quality of the encounter more than make up for it. Plus I kinda really like the "big" KH boss battles that often have you flying around when fighting them! 04. Genie Jafar (KH2): This second encounter with Genie Jafar is in my humble and very correct opinion, a vast improvement over the original in KH1 where you spend all your time trying to wack Iago out of the air. Sure, it's not particularly challenging, but it succeeds in terms of spectacle. You can't convince me that flying around through the sky on a magic carpet while dodging giant pieces of city debris being hurled at you from a giant, floating red devil isn't absolutely cool! Mostly because I wouldn't believe you. 05. Scar (KH2): Admittedly, this particular pick has less to do with the actual boss mechanics and more to do with nostalgia. Let's be honest, Scar is one of, if not the best Disney villain. The chance to go toe to toe with him is awesome! The fight is also fairly frantic. Again, not particularly challenging, but frantic nonetheless. Plus it's cool to see Scar using his dark powers in the fight. There's also something about fighting as lion cub Sora that elevates the encounter for me. After all, variety is the spice of life! 06. Spirit Of The Magic Mirror (BBS): This is such a trippy fight! The whole fight has a really creepy atmosphere and I like the many forms the mask can take, constantly keeping you on your toes. Once again, it's not the hardest encounter, but the surreality of the arena and unpredictability of the boss make it highly memorable! 07. Dragon Maleficent (BBS): I had to think for a minute in deciding wether or not I should go with the encounter in KH1 or BBS. Ultimately, I gotta go with the Mistress Of All Evil's second dragon appearance. This mainly comes down to the fact that in KH1, Dragon Maleficent is grounded and doesn't move from her position. While I do like the scale of that fight better, Dragon Maleficent in BBS actually flys around...ya know, like a dragon should. Plus you can ride on her back while she does it! It's not a huge variance though, as her green fire looks cool as hell in both encounters! 08. Rinzler (DDD): This is just an awesome, and severely underrated, melee encounter. It's fast paced and semi challenging depending on your level. Plus Rinzler looks badass! There's the gravity shifting mechanic which doesn't drastically change much of anything, but is enough to mildly disorient you. There's also the emotional weight of fighting Tron in this state after working with him in KH2. One of the rare moments in the KH series where revisiting a world in another game has undergone significant change! 09. Rock Titan (KH3): This pick is mostly due to the visual spectacle and the fact that it was in all the KH3 prerelease trailers. The hype was real! It's not difficult in the slightest, but it is a grand encounter for a first boss and frankly puts the one in KH1 to shame...which pretty much any boss in the series could do so I guess it's not that much of an achievement. 10. Davy Jones (KH3): It's a cool melee encounter that takes place on the bridge of a ship that is being sucked into a tidal vortex while simultaneously being attacked by a giant kraken...what's not to like?!. The atmosphere of the arena is really what sells this encounter. I do like that Davy Jones teleports around the arena, forcing you to stay mobile. It's far from difficult, as with most KH series Disney bosses, but it certainly is memorable!
I do have a spot for Aqua’s Maleficent fight. The dragon gets far more freedom than at any other time with flight and movement. Not as epic as KH1 but there was something important there for her. I hear you on your #1 pick.
FINALLY!! I thought I was the only one who absolutely LOVES the Pete boss fight! It’s my 2nd favorite KH boss of all time (my first is Roxas Vs Axel lol)
Honestly, I can see why the Pete boss fight in Timeless River was your number 1 pick: -Iconic stages that switch in the middle of the fight -You get to wail on Pete for his misdeeds -The awesome music in the background that would make anyone playing this kick it up a notch in fighting the boss -And that satisfying aerial action command to close the fight. It was just grand Disney rumbling fun. Shame that the Han fight from Kingdom Hearts 2 wasn't mentioned.
my number one happens to be scar from KH2, yeah it's from an optional world but the use of the encounter pretty much tells you that this guy cannot become a heartless or else that world will fall again.
Great list but I feel that Scar KH2 and giant Ursula from KH1 deserves to be on the list, I know ppl dislike the swim mechanics but there's something so epic about fighting giant Ursula alongside the use of the music and its actually a challenging fight.
The hydra fight was wack tho. I mean the visuals were great when u hopped on pegasus but that's the one good aspect about that fight. Barbosa wasn't a terrible fight tho, it was just a little tedious having to keep him out of the shade. I did have a really weird bug in that fight tho where the lizard thing would show up, but his health didn't reset so it'd be like half a second of the darkness animation and then immediately left

Great list I love it & agree with most of it, yes Maleficent’s circle talks about how Clayton’s lust for power drew the Heartless to that world. I’m so glad he was 10 on the list. I actually like the 2nd phase giant Oogie Boogie fight more, I really liked having to destroy all the globs of darkness while jumping around the massive tree and fighting those seemingly endless spawning Gargoyle Heartless with Destiny’s Force playing in the background, it’s so fitting with the whole atmosphere. And flying around attacking Captain Hook and taking him out on his own Ship the Jolly Roger is a blast. Dragon Maleficent fight is awesome! You know your Disney & Kingdom Hearts I respect that, knowing about the characters from Disney and what film there from & having actually seen them, really makes you like & appreciate them a lot more in Kingdom Hearts.
Clayton Is my favorite kh disney boss simply because of how caught off guard i was watching a child get shot with an actual gun in a game rated E for everyone.
I won’t lie, I feel like “Eye of the Storm” got done kinda dirty in the rating system. Since Barbossa and Hook’s boss theme weren’t really “pirate” theme either. Plus it’s one of the few fights where the track plays as the other is Dark Baymax and a battle gate. As for Pete being number 1. I think that’s a fair take as the fight is unique with mixing up the arena to previous arena’s of the world. Though the only negative is that past Pete can get in your way. Pretty solid list!

KH1 was already fairly dark and getting darker by the end like a Don Bluth movie. You’re descending into Kingdom Hearts hell fighting all kinds of horrors in the heart of evil. And then Chernabog shows up.
I really hope KH4 does justice to Disney boss fights. Fighting Maleficent & Pete together needs to happen at some point. Ernesto Delacruz, Tamatoa, Dr Facilier, King Candy, and Syndrome would be excellent choices.
9:32 Not Riku, but Ansem aka Xehanort's heartless. Ansem started out as a brown robed figure because he had no physical form. After he used Riku as his vessel, he gained a physical form of his own.
I think my favorite Disney boss is Hades from KH1. Yeah, it has 0 relevance to story, but it's just a fun and challenging fight. When I played KH1 for the first time as a kid he wrecked my shit constantly lol

Those are both great picks! But yeah, I never knew it was a mechanic until I played KH2 on lv. 1 Crit. I lost so many times because Jack kept dying. For some reason that made me really appreciate the fight though.
I always thought Shan Yu in KH2 was a pretty underrated fight. it’s not too difficult but it feels like a duel and there’s at least some tension in the fight on critical. plus cool ACs.
I don't know why but Chernabog was my bane during my platinum run of kh1, on hard i beat him very easily, but on easy the fight took me several hours to win

Julius is definitely not unbalanced. It's a secret boss. So it's not for the players that are not willing to give a hell of a challenge. Plenty of his attacks are blockable dodgeable he has a good amount of openings. So you don't need to spam ballonra. Im talking about Critical mode too.
I loved Hooks bosses. Very fun . Pete was great too, I love the comedic boss fights. Knocking Hook across the ship is alway fun. Curious..what’s your most wasted Disney villains in KH? :)
Ooh, that's tough.. I feel like oogie boogie deserves a really good boss fight, and so does Ursula (idk how they would accomplish that though). Kh1 rock titan was pretty disappointing though but they brought it back bigtime and gave him a cool fight in KH3. Of course, the biggest waste is that we didn't fight maleficent in KH2 or 3!

The first time I ever beat the ice Titan, I was still a young kid, and did not understand how the abilities worked in kingdom hearts. I never equipped guard on my character at all, through my very first play through I literally had to use his jumping overhead attack to Perry as many ice shards back at the behemoth as the ice titan remember it taking forever

If there is one thing I like more in Kingdom Hearts games is to fight Disney Villains and my number one favourite is Pete of every game from Kingdom Hearts 2 to Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance but my favourite one of all fights against Pete is the one in Timeless River against his old self.
KH3 is one of the best of all the franchise, its definitely not disapointing or the worst game ever. People overexagerate a lot thats fact. One of my favorite games EVER. KH2 is OVERRATED.

Genie Jafar (KH2): This second encounter with Genie Jafar is in my humble and very correct opinion, a vast improvement over the original in KH1 where you spend all your time trying to wack Iago out of the air. Sure, it's not particularly challenging, but it succeeds in terms of spectacle. You can't convince me that flying around through the sky on a magic carpet while dodging giant pieces of city debris being hurled at you from a giant, floating red devil isn't absolutely cool! Mostly because I wouldn't believe you.
05. Scar (KH2): Admittedly, this particular pick has less to do with the actual boss mechanics and more to do with nostalgia. Let's be honest, Scar is one of, if not the best Disney villain. The chance to go toe to toe with him is awesome! The fight is also fairly frantic. Again, not particularly challenging, but frantic nonetheless. Plus it's cool to see Scar using his dark powers in the fight. There's also something about fighting as lion cub Sora that elevates the encounter for me. After all, variety is the spice of life!
06. Spirit Of The Magic Mirror (BBS): This is such a trippy fight! The whole fight has a really creepy atmosphere and I like the many forms the mask can take, constantly keeping you on your toes. Once again, it's not the hardest encounter, but the surreality of the arena and unpredictability of the boss make it highly memorable!
07. Dragon Maleficent (BBS): I had to think for a minute in deciding wether or not I should go with the encounter in KH1 or BBS. Ultimately, I gotta go with the Mistress Of All Evil's second dragon appearance. This mainly comes down to the fact that in KH1, Dragon Maleficent is grounded and doesn't move from her position. While I do like the scale of that fight better, Dragon Maleficent in BBS actually flys around...ya know, like a dragon should. Plus you can ride on her back while she does it! It's not a huge variance though, as her green fire looks cool as hell in both encounters!
08. Rinzler (DDD): This is just an awesome, and severely underrated, melee encounter. It's fast paced and semi challenging depending on your level. Plus Rinzler looks badass! There's the gravity shifting mechanic which doesn't drastically change much of anything, but is enough to mildly disorient you. There's also the emotional weight of fighting Tron in this state after working with him in KH2. One of the rare moments in the KH series where revisiting a world in another game has undergone significant change!
09. Rock Titan (KH3): This pick is mostly due to the visual spectacle and the fact that it was in all the KH3 prerelease trailers. The hype was real! It's not difficult in the slightest, but it is a grand encounter for a first boss and frankly puts the one in KH1 to shame...which pretty much any boss in the series could do so I guess it's not that much of an achievement.
10. Davy Jones (KH3): It's a cool melee encounter that takes place on the bridge of a ship that is being sucked into a tidal vortex while simultaneously being attacked by a giant kraken...what's not to like?!. The atmosphere of the arena is really what sells this encounter. I do like that Davy Jones teleports around the arena, forcing you to stay mobile. It's far from difficult, as with most KH series Disney bosses, but it certainly is memorable!
I do have a spot for Aqua’s Maleficent fight. The dragon gets far more freedom than at any other time with flight and movement. Not as epic as KH1 but there was something important there for her.

Honestly, I can see why the Pete boss fight in Timeless River was your number 1 pick:
-Iconic stages that switch in the middle of the fight
-You get to wail on Pete for his misdeeds
-The awesome music in the background that would make anyone playing this kick it up a notch in fighting the boss
-And that satisfying aerial action command to close the fight.
It was just grand Disney rumbling fun. Shame that the Han fight from Kingdom Hearts 2 wasn't mentioned.
my number one happens to be scar from KH2, yeah it's from an optional world but the use of the encounter pretty much tells you that this guy cannot become a heartless or else that world will fall again.
Great list but I feel that Scar KH2 and giant Ursula from KH1 deserves to be on the list, I know ppl dislike the swim mechanics but there's something so epic about fighting giant Ursula alongside the use of the music and its actually a challenging fight.

The hydra fight was wack tho. I mean the visuals were great when u hopped on pegasus but that's the one good aspect about that fight. Barbosa wasn't a terrible fight tho, it was just a little tedious having to keep him out of the shade. I did have a really weird bug in that fight tho where the lizard thing would show up, but his health didn't reset so it'd be like half a second of the darkness animation and then immediately left

Great list I love it & agree with most of it, yes Maleficent’s circle talks about how Clayton’s lust for power drew the Heartless to that world. I’m so glad he was 10 on the list. I actually like the 2nd phase giant Oogie Boogie fight more, I really liked having to destroy all the globs of darkness while jumping around the massive tree and fighting those seemingly endless spawning Gargoyle Heartless with Destiny’s Force playing in the background, it’s so fitting with the whole atmosphere. And flying around attacking Captain Hook and taking him out on his own Ship the Jolly Roger is a blast. Dragon Maleficent fight is awesome!
You know your Disney & Kingdom Hearts I respect that, knowing about the characters from Disney and what film there from & having actually seen them, really makes you like & appreciate them a lot more in Kingdom Hearts.

I won’t lie, I feel like “Eye of the Storm” got done kinda dirty in the rating system. Since Barbossa and Hook’s boss theme weren’t really “pirate” theme either. Plus it’s one of the few fights where the track plays as the other is Dark Baymax and a battle gate. As for Pete being number 1. I think that’s a fair take as the fight is unique with mixing up the arena to previous arena’s of the world. Though the only negative is that past Pete can get in your way. Pretty solid list!
Bro, number 1 is the OG Disney Villain, it’s a fantastic pick and KHII did it justice of how structured the fight is, it’s my favorite boss fight in the game!, sell that number 1 pick, i think it was perfect!
KH1 was already fairly dark and getting darker by the end like a Don Bluth movie. You’re descending into Kingdom Hearts hell fighting all kinds of horrors in the heart of evil.

9:32 Not Riku, but Ansem aka Xehanort's heartless. Ansem started out as a brown robed figure because he had no physical form. After he used Riku as his vessel, he gained a physical form of his own.
I think my favorite Disney boss is Hades from KH1. Yeah, it has 0 relevance to story, but it's just a fun and challenging fight. When I played KH1 for the first time as a kid he wrecked my shit constantly lol

I always thought Shan Yu in KH2 was a pretty underrated fight. it’s not too difficult but it feels like a duel and there’s at least some tension in the fight on critical. plus cool ACs.

Julius is definitely not unbalanced. It's a secret boss. So it's not for the players that are not willing to give a hell of a challenge. Plenty of his attacks are blockable dodgeable he has a good amount of openings. So you don't need to spam ballonra. Im talking about Critical mode too.
I loved Hooks bosses. Very fun . Pete was great too, I love the comedic boss fights. Knocking Hook across the ship is alway fun.

Kh1 rock titan was pretty disappointing though but they brought it back bigtime and gave him a cool fight in KH3.
Of course, the biggest waste is that we didn't fight maleficent in KH2 or 3!

The first time I ever beat the ice Titan, I was still a young kid, and did not understand how the abilities worked in kingdom hearts. I never equipped guard on my character at all, through my very first play through I literally had to use his jumping overhead attack to Perry as many ice shards back at the behemoth as the ice titan remember it taking forever
Eye of the Storm so pretty Pirate for me, the Orchestral Version sounds even more piraty, and i don't have nothing against Disney but i played KH for the FF characters and i really want more FF secret bosses

If there is one thing I like more in Kingdom Hearts games is to fight Disney Villains and my number one favourite is Pete of every game from Kingdom Hearts 2 to Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance but my favourite one of all fights against Pete is the one in Timeless River against his old self.
KH3 is one of the best of all the franchise, its definitely not disapointing or the worst game ever. People overexagerate a lot thats fact. One of my favorite games EVER. KH2 is OVERRATED.
