Some players knew this and exploited it. Today's players like Slow Poke Selby and many others use it against him to frustrate him and disrupt his Rythym and focus. When Ronnie looks tired or frustrated, due to being kept off the table, he can sometimes take a long time to recover or does not.
This really is astonishing. Setting the highest break of the tournaments history on his debut when he's 14 years of age, crazy! The audience must have thought he was going to be dominating for years, and they'd be right!
