    While I normally don't care too much about the different types of decks in vids, I will say that the Korvold being effectively a treasure is exactly what I expect out of a typical Korvold deck. Plus the amount of fast mana that I saw was definitely not on the same level as the other decks at the tabke. Craterhoof is one thing, but seeing the amount of fast mana and even just monetary value in that Korvold deck definitely threw me off. Good game, just wish the decks were more balanced for each other

    There is no way in hell you can justify Korvold. You can literally play 99 lands and you still have a chance to win.

      Playing korvold (or chulane for that matter) is like playing a soulslike (Elden Ring) on a "story mode" difficulty setting (if it had one).

    • @rhainex5952
      @rhainex5952 ปีที่แล้ว

      Then why play magic? Nobody forced you to watch today's game. It was a fair game all around. You act like Korvold is unstoppable.

    • @jgroen5545
      @jgroen5545 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rhainex5952 wow. Great argument. You are of course right. As soon as something happens you dont like, or as soon as 1 commander exists that this person apparently hates, he should totally stop playing magic altogether. 10/10 logic.
      I think it has something to do with managing expectations. If I tell you i want to give you a solid gold nugget (a.k.a. "this is not your typical korvold deck), but when I give it to you you find out I just spray painted a dog turd gold, that would not feel very nice, would it?
      And thén, someone comes around saying "well nobody forced you to like gold or accept this promise of a gold nugget". Durrrrrrr....
      Is his comment a bit much? Sure. But you can also try to see it for what it is. A player who dislikes korvold a whole lot, and who was perhaps hoping that this would finally be a type of korvold deck he could enjoy watching being played. And then he was disappointed.
      Ergo, bad expectation management.

  • @rhainex5952
    @rhainex5952 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Love how everyone complains about a deck that wins a game. Doesn't matter what the commander is its gets instant hate. I get Korvold is a powerful commander and I have built and played it casually and competitive. I've had my fair share of games losing and winning. It's all based on chance and luck especially the archetype your against. Over all this was a good game and Matt did a good job piloting Korvold.

  • @monklmunstr

    Man, after reading these comments, it's made me realize that Korvold haters are kinda toxic 😂 Guys relax, this was a good game.

    • @maxbodifee3263

      It was abd Kaalia should have focussed Korvold a bit harder. Although I get that control is frustrating and you kill him first

    • @SiusBleach
      @SiusBleach 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@maxbodifee3263 I was the Kaalia player. I can talk about it. We had open decklists and I've played against all of these decks before. Both Korvold and Lagrella are long term value decks. Neither one is one you want to give time, because they will take over the game. So I had to choose where to put my pressure with the 2 swings I got. Either swing at Logan to avoid needing to deal with exile based removal that's sitting in the command zone and can consistently answer my commander/ruin my tempo or point damage at Logan who will stop a fair bit of my damage with a large Korvold the next turn but can't interact with my creatures for the most part. Also, Lagrella wins through Blasting Station combos, so it's not like I'm not under a gun with there.
      I tried to politic with Sam to make it clear that we as the aggro decks need to apply pressure to the value decks, but I had the scary board that he couldn't answer without player removal. The Fire Covenant play was also to try to direct the now 6/6 Craterhoof at the Grist, since I didn't think Sam could win a 1v1 against Matt, especially with Grist in play to remove creatures. Sam opted to let us die though and attempt to race Matt for the win. I also might've dug myself a hole with the timing on that wheel. Hard to say because I was doing nothing if I didn't wheel but maybe should've waited a turn. It was a known card from the Keen Duelist so I didn't want to give others the option to develop an aggressive board expecting the wheel. Also, it's hard to see but the first card Logan discards to the wheel is Farewell. Playing around exile based removal was at least correct.
