Hi rain, couple of things I just wanted to let you know while I learned playing this game back in 2000s. Hope this helps.
    1. Pitch bar - it is true you will get hammered if you don't stretch at least more than 80% of the bar. But that doesn't mean you need to stretch all the way to 100% everytime you pitch. Rather 90% range is better since you don't need to struggle with too narrow green zone and miss way out of the zone or give them sweet pitch to hit.
    2. Bullpen - Once you warm up a pitcher during your offense inning, the pitcher in the bullpen gets ready 100% right in the next defense (unless he is a starter with more than 80 stamina). No matter how many balls you throw (even just one pitch), relief pitcher will be ready 100% in the next defense right away. If you KEEP him warm up more than 1+ inning, it actually wastes one's stamina and let it drop less than 100.
    3. Pitching - Try not to be too aggressive. If you throw first ball a strike, try to fish the batters with the second pitch slightly off than strikezone (for RHP, 3 o'clock slider for left handed batters & 9 o'clock two-seamer for right handed works well). This works pretty well and lead swings and misses quite often. If you are in a pitcher's count, again, fish the batters using 5 o'clock slider, 6 o'clock curveball or 9 o'clock two seamers.
Love your mvp 2005 series from the beginning episode, rain. Hope you keep the reds roll!

The Brewers SS Jarrod Guthrie is possibly J.J. Hardy. At least that's what i've always thought when i played MVP Baseball 2005. and their CF Robin Salked is possibly Nelson Cruz. and they have a minor league 1B named Wayne Collier who is for sure Prince Fielder.

Didn’t even think that! Guthrie was killing me!

If you hold I think R2 (could be L2) you can get a menu to warm up pitchers when you're hitting. I believe L1 and R1 are increase and decrease lead off base. Use a mound visit if your reliever is almost ready and they should be fully ready after. Yes, you need to fill the meter when pitching. Using a lower "pitch effectiveness" in the majors is just asking for trouble.
And if you are into the "added realism" of real players, I have listed a few top 100 prospects that jump out to me as maybe being worthy of being updated to their real names.
Angels - SP B. Bath = Ervin Santana
    Brewers - SS S. Gent = J.J. Hardy
    Brewers - 1B W. Collier = Prince Fielder
Brewers - SS J Guthrie = JJ Hardy
Giants - SP R. Santiago = Matt Cain
Guardians - SP K. Barrera = Fausto Carmona
Mariners - SP D. Buhler = "King" Felix Hernandez
Phillies - SP O. Uttuslien = Cole Hamels
Pirates - SP R. Sanchez = Zach Duke
Red Sox - SS M. Derksen = Hanley Ramirez
Tigers - SP J. Snare = Justin Verlander
Twins - SP T. Coleman = Francisco Liriano

When I played this game a ton back in the day, I had a ton of success with Adam Dunn hitting HRs...I would point the analog stick in the upper right/Northeast/2 oclock position. If you get pitches on the inner half of the plate, he tended to hit HRs at a really ridiculous clip. You don't really go into any detail on your streams as to whether you are analoging your hitters to hit grounders/fly balls, so wanted to pass along what worked for me. Just be patient with it though, because when pitches are on the outer half, you will also hit an inordinate amount of popouts to 3B and SS if you commit to this.

In MVP 2005, you can actually warm a pitcher up for too long and cause them to get tired. That was why your reliever came in at 92% stamina.
Pitchers in this game will usually be ready to go with the turnover of a half inning. So, if you start warming up in bottom of the 6th, that reliever should be good to go by the top of the 7th.

hey Rain, next time you take control of pitching, and you know the batter is going to bunt. Throw fast balls up and in, they tend to pop the bunt up and won't advance the runner(s)

I came here to say this exact thing. When you know the pitcher is going to sacrifice bunt, bust him with some high heat and he will end up popping out more often than not.
