I had seen a documentary on these boys and wondered how the family was doing. Thank you for making this video and giving these folks the dignity they deserve for all they went through.
This would be so hard to live through. I'd rather my parents put me in some kind of hospital and continue enjoying their retirement as much as possible than have to deal with something like this.

Of course, i don't know your age but the older I've gotten the more I've learned that unfortunately age has very little to do with maturity. I've met literal children, 5-6 year old from my job at the Y with more sense and maturity than fully grown adults. It is quite sad

They make large generalizations like that to connect to their audience. Yes, TH-cam is a global platform but very few people know enough about international cities. They chose a well known landmark to connect the mind to the general area. I'm not condemning you at all, just giving an explanation as to why this is often done

I actually grew up knowing three siblings who were like this. My grandma took care of them every once in a while because she was a family friend. All three of them were in their 70s to 80s. We would play games together like kids when I was a kid and I would always want them to come outside and play with me but they had to stay inside because even though mentally they were children they weren’t able to play like I could cause their bodies were way older than they felt.
Man why did I get recommend this after my class just got done with "Flowers for Algernon". I mean the main character basically was mentally like a kid, then got to genius level intelligence, and back to his old self at the end.
This hurts so much to watch. My little boy is playing on the floor next to me. He's 2. I can't imagine giving birth to two beautiful babies and then being forced to watch them die slowly instead of enjoy their own retirements and play with their grandkids. If my son died before me I think I would lose the will to live. No parent deserves that, losing a child is probably the worst thing to exist.
You should make a video about Huntington's Disease. My Great Grandma, Grandma have both died from it and now my Mom has it. If you have a parent with Huntington's you have a 50% chance of getting it.

You had no warning that something was going to go seriously wrong in time. While rarer, you also have the chance of not having family members with it but developing the disease way after any kids are born just due to being unlucky with the genetic lottery. There is testing available nowadays so people can plot their lives a bit better if they are at a higher risk. There are also the cases of unplanned pregnancy and the parents' view of what to do with this. Some have children at a young age thinking they're invulnerable, that middle age is a long time in the future. Some at-risk individuals have even said that they have children because they don't want to be controlled by it. In the end, it's a personal choice and while I would personally not have children (it's a horrific disease), that doesn't mean that others would do the same.

I have a friend whose son has batten disease and once he got to around 19 his mind and mannerisms started going backwards. he still has an adult body but he went from a totally normal adult to a child again. It's nicknamed childhood dementia
I wonder daily what will happen to my children (special needs) when I can't care for them. They may never even realize mistreatment or be able to vocalize/advocate for themselves. A bad nightmare is wondering abt one's legacy; a worse nightmare is wondering if their legacies will be "allowed". What happens when they can't fight for themselves and have no one to fight for them!?!?
If my brother did the "Yippe! _squeal!"_ thing, I would have just assumed that he'd been using simplified child talk around his young children for a tad too long lately.
I feel, I just feel so bad for the parents. They suffered the most.
