something i've found useful to find breaking changes before your users do, is that it is best to write some contract tests for every external dependency in your code and have it run a couple of times a day as a chrome job. you can setup alerting as well, if tests break.

I’m using Cursor (VSCode fork)
I split my terminals so I can run build commands and the other for handling git :)
