Ah, I went past Justerini & Brooks while I was in London last week (heading for Berry Bros & Rudd I think). The shop looks amazing, didn't realise there was whisky downstairs. That said, I felt a bit scruffy to be gracing their lovely shop in my shorts & trainers!
Thanks for the tour of the shop looks fantastic. Would love to visit love trying exotic old whiskeys, but only in tastings can never afford a full bottle but that’s OK. Whiskey is wonderful.😅
thanks Kirby, glad you enjoyed it. you should get along to more tastings or join a whisky club - you're bound to find something old or rare every now and then. sláinte my friend
@@TheWhiskyBaron Not yet, but will try and visit next time I am up in London. Great to see inside these places and learn about the history from the likes of Ethan. Fascinating to see where you end up next. Cheers for taking us on your journey.
I watched the video and although I enjoyed it and would certainly love to pay the shop a visit when next in London, I was waiting for you to mention that JUSTERINI & BROOKS are wholly owned by international corporate giants, Diageo, and that all the whisky shown on the shelves was the product of one company, ie, Diageo. Diageo's "The Rare Malts Collection" seemed particularly prominent. Did you ever disclose this? Apologies if I missed it. In the interests of transparency, IMO, it ought to be mentioned that the shop showcases only Diageo products. (Or do they sell non-Diageo products as well?
thanks for tuning in Reb, glad you enjoyed it. we did mention this but it was cut out during edit as it watches better this way. their selection of fine wines and champagne are separate from Diageo and they have liquid from their own distillery, Knockando
@TheWhiskyBaron Thank you for your reply, but I'm still feeling as if I'm missing something. J&B are wholly owned by Diageo. Why would you say that Knockando distillery was J&B's distillery? Are you implying that they own it? In fact, just like its sister distillery up the road Cardhu, it's wholly owned by Diageo. We saw on their shelf, Talisker, Caol Ila, Dufftown, Brora, Clynelish....all owned by Diageo. Are you implying that Knockando is not managed by Diageo directly but by the management of J&B? Or are you saying that they call it "their" distillery just because there's a large percentage of Knockando whisky in the J&B Blended Scotch? You see where I'm confused? Your implication is that J&B is similar to say, Burns Stewart, who used to manage Deanston, Tobermory and Bunnahabhain, but are themselves owned by Distell.
@@RebMordechaiReviews you're not missing anything Reb - J&B is Diageo owned and if that's nowhere in this video it's purely coincidental and as a result of editing a piece that we believe provides insight and value to our community. most customers will know of this ownership and as you've pointed out, it's clear from the shelves that they're Diageo owned. with that being said and to my previous point, they have a lot of autonomy as a business under the Diageo umbrella and I think it's wonderful how they continue to stamp their mark on the high end of the Scotch industry. that's what this video is all about
You two aren’t related are you? Both same build and both use some same hand movements. If not I apologise. What a place to visit and what a place to work at.
no, but that has made me chuckle. a compliment for me, probably not so much for Ethan! truly a great place Sean, I'd highly recommend you stopping in if you get the chance. sláinte pal
@@TheWhiskyBaron well I’m in London in Jan 25 for an important birthday, so may drag the other half there to see if she’ll buy me a wee bottle. Glad it made you chuckle and you weren’t offended by my wrong observation. Take it easy and looking forward to the next episode. Sláinte agatsa
