I am not a native speaker and searched what does riffing mean, but i dont think the google explanation fits in this context. Could you please explain me? :)
I love the addition of the bassist and backup singers. L'amour de ma vie from this same session is also great. Its on a different channel Billie Eilish World.
I believe she had made a point about wanting all of the songs she puts out to be able to be performed acoustically in one way or another. she never wants to need to rely on production or tweaks in the studio. this was evident when she had performed 'all the good girls go to hell' and 'bad guy', two songs that are very production-driven and upbeat, acoustically. that's when I knew this girl could do anything.
@@TimWelchVocalStudio Compare/contrast with Cecilia Bartoli. What you are seeing now with Billie is the world of BEL CANTO. And between Billie and Finneas, we're getting the most impressive art songs in a century.
the moment i saw she had background singers i though of you haha i loved this so much 😭 there’s also a version like this for skinny and l’amour de la vie on amazon, also with the background singers. i would love a reaction to them! specially l’amour, her voice there is insanely good!
glad you saw this after you reviewed the greatest! my first thought when I watched this video was that you would be pleased she has involved some other vocalists
I think she dropped hints about singers and sessions for many months now. Something like this does not come without a lot of lead time practicing and rehearsing for months on end.
I read someone say they can’t wait to hear her sing this song and birds of a feather when she’s 35 and I couldn’t agree more. She’s just getting better and better everyday.
I was watching a fellow brazilian coach yesterday and he said the exact same thing about the neck positioning. he added "it doesn't happen to her here but usually you loose strength in your vocal cords." love your reacts always. thanks
You want to lose some strength in the vocal folds when you’re in that pitch range because the thickening of the TA muscle needs to release some of the engagement.
Enjoyed ur reaction. Big BiFi fan. I feel like Billie is a once in a gen singer (I agree with Mitch below), I'm also from the Beatles era (her favorite band). I knew you would love the other singers whom she picked particularly, they are lead vocalists on their own. Love to hear u do more Billie. I love her new album, it was created as a full album listen, as the story and sound all flows. You are right, she is becoming more confident in her vocal abilities, but I've heard so much I love even from her 1st EP. Thanks again!
I immediately thought of you when I saw that Billie did this session with BGV. I agree that they add so much to this performance, especially considering how her production has so many layers of her comped vocals. She is one of those artists who really does sound as good as, if not better, live.
Brand new to your channel. I love your analysis! I am an old musician/singer who LOVES new to me music. Billie Eilish, Ren, and Dimash, have been my top three discoveries over the last few years. I haven't seen another reactor who does such great breakdowns. Thank you. 🙂 Billie Eilish is a stunner and has been evolving wonderfully!
Thank you so much for this! I adore Billie and her voice. I’m so glad she’s felt more comfortable exploring her voice. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard all the chest voice and mix belt in this album. Also THANK YOU for the note on the head position- I’ve had teachers tell me not to tilt and the way you explain it makes perfect sense
In 2012 Lana Del Rey did a performance of her song Million Dollar Man at the eurockeénnes festival, it´s very different to how she usually sings and performs and I think you might have fun reacting to it! It´s a lot of Lana stans´ favorite performance
Have you watched “Bitches Broken Hearts” the Vevo live? It’s the “actual” version of the song for me, the mix is much better than the “official” version. I really like that performance
At what point do we get an analysis of Billie's skill set that references BEL CANTO ? The point where she started moving from untrained genius to today's master of operatic technique came back in 2020 when COVID blocked her WWAFAWDWG tour. Between ZOOM and the L.A. Phil community, Billie has seen more than 1,000 lessons.
I admit that I don't really know a lot about mic technique, but I thought part of the reason she was tilting her head sooo much was to get more distance from the mic when she belts, since they set the mic to pick up every little breath and sigh when she is soft.
You reacted ❤️ there are more performances of this day besides this, unfortunately they are not yet on her channel, but you can find it on the Billie Eilish Word channel
You may want to check out Lamour De Ma Vie from the same session. In the Amazon presentation she says that this song is one of her favorites from the album to sing because it's really right in the middle of her range. They have done a lot of tracks where she does a very high falsetto but apparently she likes the jazzy mid range. Her speaking voice is kind of low and smoky so that makes sense.
Halloween night - Here's a suggestion this Halloween - you could let us know if it's a TRICK OR TREAT - take a not to serious look at the Billie's Tik Tok Halloween cowgirl singing with a yodel - I couldn't believe it was Billie until I saw her singing and her singing turning into laughter - For me this is a fun, spontaneous exhibition of the strength of her voice in a way that I have never heard in any song she has ever sung. You could tell us what she is doing with her voice here - letting loose without constraint - for the fun of it. I was amazed! And her laugh is also classic.
I hope this wins song of the year or at least the greatest or the whole album. It’s time they win for an album! As someone who sings live on a weekly basis with a microphone and a sound tech back at the board, I pull my head back so that he does not have to adjust the fader. I want to be in control of the dynamics, personally. Billy’s influence on my singing, as a 49-year-old with lots of experience, has made me a better singer in the softer breathier times I need to sing that way. It’s really hard, but when done right and enunciated well, makes such a difference. Whoops. Came and edited that I watched your reaction to the greatest & you discussed the volume/distortion in belting. Sorry about that. 🤦♀️
I don’t think she tilted her head back to get more out of her voice. It was for dramatic effect, appreciated by those of us who are truly feel what she is singing to our core.
That is such an amazing song and the vocals are on point.. so beautiful. I actually have a suggestion for you. It’s a Japanese band called Goodmoon. They have a song called “ Circus “ and it has most beautiful melody and lyrics. I can’t get enough of listening to it . I wou love it if you could review it as I would love to hear what you think of it.
Just uploaded a reaction to Billie and Lana at Coachella but sadly it was completely blocked for Copyright. Fingers crossed it goes live soon! So many more to come though. I’ll have some more next week of Lana✨🙏🏼
You should react to Ariana Grande's "God is a Woman" on BBC Live Lounge, or "No Tears Left to Cry" also on BBC Live Lounge. P.S. I loved your reaction-new subscriber here!
I’ve always wanted a vocal coach to react to this song. Who needs a choir w 3:123:143:163:183:21 hen you can do 9 part harmonies with yourself?!?! th-cam.com/video/T3wSbLa2uGg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=miGoWYc5qlg9sNmG
I love your reaction but I would like to think they have responded to me - As excellent as I believe Billie and Finneas are - I saw them in St. Paul, MN on March 15, 2022 at the Xcel Energy Center and Billie was/is pheonomenal - but there have been shows where Finneas quits acoutic and them someone runs out with electric or a bass guitar and I'm thinking - Finneas, trust other musicians - it looks stupid to do that; When Billie sang Peggy Lee's "Fever" with Christian McBride she was terrific. I truly believe, no matter how well they have been received - and I believe they are unique and terrific and deserving of every accolade - but not just myself, but others wonder why aren't other musicians - intrumentalist and vocalists with gifts all their own TRUSTED, RESPECTED and ASKED to be a part of the Billie and Finneas phenomenon - I'm 70 - they have seen my comments on FACEBOOK, you tube and perhaps you were the 1 more INCENTIVE that was needed - Andrew the tour drummer has been with them faithfully since at least 2017 (maybe 2016).
So irritating that you interrupted this song at its crescendo twice to talk about yourself and you didnt even notice what an amazing moment it was or attempt to rewind the part you just talked over. Try to actually listen to the song first or be aware or the moment you're interrupting.
I don’t know. I like Billie a lot, but she’s a little TOO mellow for me. I feel like she throws away every line. And I think her sound was always a bit too stylized and breathy (and still is). I’m glad she’s experimenting more and I know she can use her chest voice more and even has a belty mixed voice. It just kind of puts me to sleep. I think she and Finneas are extremely gifted musically though (I actually like his music better 🥴). I love their sibling love for each other.
I'm going to be completely honest... As talented as they are - I don't like background singers with her performances and prefer her own backing vocals 😬🙈
They’ve always done acoustic organic versions of most of their songs. So good
So good
That's how she started out, even before Ocean Eyes.
That riffing is my favourite part of this performance, like what. My ears. 😭🤩
I want more of it.
I am not a native speaker and searched what does riffing mean, but i dont think the google explanation fits in this context. Could you please explain me? :)
@@nala1684 It’s a bit like jamming, or playing, experimenting, so to speak.
The harmonies and the arrangement of this piece are absolutely astounding.
Her voice feels like a cashmere sweater.
Love this comment.
you make me want a cashmere sweater!
I swear she was a siren in a past life
I love the addition of the bassist and backup singers. L'amour de ma vie from this same session is also great. Its on a different channel Billie Eilish World.
3rd request for this one!

Thanks for watching, yeah it was an amazing performance. It’s so awesome you all are keeping on me top of the stuff I need to watch! ✨🙏🏼

It was so awesome with the background vocalists! they were spectacular.
This is y I love watching certain coaches of other crafts ..the insight they give u..makes me appreciate the performance that much more
You suggested she have backup singers. Here it is. You were correct.
So glad to see it!
I think she dropped hints about singers and sessions for many months now. Something like this does not come without a lot of lead time practicing and rehearsing for months on end.

You should listen to the isolated vocals they released of the album. Really enjoyed your reaction 😊
Oo, great idea.
Where can we find this??
The echoing vocals have always been something I love musicians doing. It’s my favorite part generally.
This was a Sophisticated and Wonderful reaction. Billie is so amazing Finneas too and the 🔙ing singers are incredible
She’s so talented. I LOVE her voice.
It's devastating that we can't have it on Apple Music. Amazing performance.

The pull away is so the belt doesn’t become too loud in the mix, the head tilt is for technique.
She did several more songs on the Songline as well - I highly recommend watching the whole thing.
Will do, thx.
FINNEAS IN BACKGROUND OMGGGGG ILL EXPLODE
