This just proves that you never know what is happening behind closed doors. I love this speech for how raw and beautifully honest it is. They mean the world to a lot of people and it breaks my heart seeing them like this.
I agree. I cry every time I see these speeches and them crying cause they have gone through SO MUCH which hasn't been shown to the public, to us and yet they always give their best.

OT7 yes everytime i hear outro:tear this event reminds me of it. i cant imagine what they went through that time. They were in difficult times even before since they debut but that year seems to be the hardest to them. Im relieved that they overcome it.

you asked why namjoon was laughing: i personally think he always smile in these moments to try to hold his tears, in all bts' emotional moments i've noticed that he smiles to try not cry or something.
Not many noticed, but Namjoon had tears coming down his face. He was hidding behind Hobi and JK to not let his crying face be seen.

Yes, I know how RM feels, I do the same thing too. I don't like people seeing my weak side, so I always smile in emotional situations to keep myself from crying, I know this sounds weird to others, but it happens subconsciously.

people say that jhope is not much strong because he easily get scared or show emotion... but in reality he is one of the strongest members who have gone through so much from getting hate for his visuals, people thinking of him as not so strong rapper, him almost getting kicked out of bts before debut, and still he smiles and give us hope when we need it and not asking anything in return... i am proud of every member for staying together and strong

He’s strong... every single one of them would have to be strong to get through what they have... and they did that bc they could lean on each other when they needed and lift each other up when they need it. I wanted to mention that there’s nothing wrong with showing emotion... not crying does not make you stronger than the ones that are... it takes so much courage to let those emotions out even though it shows how you really feel... also being scared and showing emotion really don’t have much to do with it either. None of them are stronger than others bc they have all been through this journey together facing so much more than we could ever even possibly imagine. The idea that emotions mean weakness is an old way of thinking and hope people know how damaging it can be to you if you bottle it all up, and they got here by being everything for each other.. they really are a family and there is so much love between them and it’s truly heart warming. It’s sad bc what they went through but good bc they were able to get past that point and they’ve done so much since this and are bigger than they ever have been... it’s beautiful.. they didn’t just win because they deserve it... even though they absolutely do... but I think they won bc deep down their hearts needed it.. and all that positivity they’re putting out into our world is coming back to them. It’s beautiful really

V was even crying outside after they win this award in back stage and even their when they were at red carpet interviewing their artist of the year award. I can't imagine them getting disbanded. But this memory of struggle brings us such a great song Let go. I love them all so much seeing them tearing up is just so sad and emotional. 💜💜💜

This just shows why RM is the best leader. He is always the first one to make group hug, He keep the group up together the whole time, He gave other members to give speech, He said he got emotional but he didn't want other to broke down tear/can't speak anymore, that's why he was laughing, As you can see(in jimin speech) he was keeping safe his members speech not to make mistakes from behind, He was hiding behind so camera would focus on member who is speaking, Whenever one finished speech, he always comfort him like " you did great job ".... He just staring at his members happily makes me soooooo sooooo much more happy.

When hobi cries, everyone cries. Cause when a very bright and happy sunshiny person like j hope cries suddenly, you know that whatever hardship his and their experienced had really taken a toll and finally spilled out.
That reminds me of the time EXO’s leader Suho broke down crying in the middle of one of EXO’s concerts. Everyone was shocked when it happened. Even the other members were shocked. He admitted that he was bottling up his emotions and at that moment he just couldn't take it anymore and let it all out. He said that he would be more open with his members about these things so this wouldn't happen again because he didn't want to worry EXO-Ls or his members like that again.
Hobi has always been the most optimistic and positive person, and when he cries, it means something has happened, and it means I'm going to cry.
2018 has been a very difficult year for BTS and the company, taking a huge hit while they were full of hope, and we should all thank them for not disbanding and sticking it out to become the indestructible BTS they are today

When J-Hope had difficulty it was obvious that 2018 hadn’t been average year for the guys and acceptance remarks would be anything but “usual”.
I was too selfish to realize the pressure the guys faced. They had a world tour (saw them in Fort Worth - OMG) and released a bunch of work. I didn’t once remember that they are human beings who have worked as hard as possible for YEARS!
Our love for them almost wrecked them. We are lucky that they made the right move and signed new contracts.
Thanks men of BTS for showing and sharing your hearts with us, both on that stage and through the messages of your songs.

I cried so much when I saw their speech. I was completely shocked when Jin said that they thought about disbanding. Even though Jungkook was crying, he comforted V and let him cry on his shoulder. I loved how open they were. This speech shows that idols aren't superhumans. They are normal people who go through hardships just like everyone else in the world.

Hobi is our sunshine. He's the one that lights us with happiness. It was his "concept" to be the hope of the group. Even tho it isn't because of the concept anymore, he tends to hide emotions and be the light still. That's why every time he breaks down like this, it'll break our hearts so much. Not just him tho, any of them. We wanted them to just be happy always.

this really goes to show how hard it is in the industry, and how every idol must be so strong, mentally and physically, to endure everything like this. people who don't know kpop or are new to this, they might think that it's all fun and games. but in reality, this industry is the most cutthroat and brutal industry in music.
but you know, honestly speaking, bts does not speak about everything that they are going through. they hide so much from us to keep us from feeling pain. although they do open up a lot, we still don't know everything that they are going through at this moment. for example, contrary to what people might think, hobi is not always happy, and sometimes he feels he needs to put on a facade for us and the members. i want to keep them from all the pain the world, but it's just not possible

There are two most hurtful cries I’ve seen from bts, Yoongi kneeled on the stage and bowed his body down to his parents in the audience during their concert, the second one is hobi crying when giving the speech at mama in 2018.
When yoongi was crying it felt like my heart was broken and I just want to be next him and give him a hug and tell him you did such a great job thank you for being suga for armys. But when I saw hobi crying my tears just ran out from my eyes, bc I thought about how much struggle they went through at the beginning of the year when the situation was really bad. But they didn’t share a single sad moment with us and hold until the end of that year just makes me so sad that we didn’t know about this.
Because we know about the hardships they went through so thats why they are the most precious ones for all the armys out there. We will love them until the end.
Me and my sister was watching this live show and we never imagined that Hobi will cry. He is always the eternal sunshine in the group and radiates so much happiness. Seeing him cry breaks my heart and I feel really happy that he was able to relieve his emotions with us. He truly appreciate and trusts us and this makes us feel so much loved. "Don't judge the book by its cover" some people think of BTS as idols who have to do stuff perfectly...but they forget that they are still humans who have hardships and had gone through alot......this award was really special to them because they didn't give up in the beginning of 2018 and they continued...then they got the award they really deserved
+ its really wholesome and cute when a new army (aka sammy) calls the members by their real names (example:- he called Suga "yoongi")
I love how everyone is watching this is prolly just full on happy at the start of this award then just gradually cry while feeling warm inside at the end

They've been through so much so we've seen all of them cry a few times. It clutches my heart each time, but with Hobi it's a different story. I can't watch Hobi's part in this and not cry too. Maybe it's because we always rely on him to be a shining ball of sunshine all the time, so seeing him cry just hurts a little more. Do you all remember that Bangtan Bomb many years ago on Hobi's birthday where they showed him a clip of his dad greeting him a Happy Birthday? I cried buckets while watching that video. Wanted to reach out into the video and hug him tight too. For those of you who haven't seen it, look it up but grab a box of tissues before pressing play.
These humans deserve the world and, though it has been repeated by ARMY so many times, I will still say I feel so lucky to be in a world where they exist.

No matter how many times i watch this certain speech, i would always break down into tears. I became an army in 2018 and the amount of hate they got in the previous years were absolutely inhumane. People would always throw hate at them, even ever since they debut just because they weren't part of the Big 3 companies (SM, YG, JYP). They got hate in every single community for no reason, within and outside korea until the hate has become normalized for them all over the world. They get the most hate out of all the kpop groups existing and their fanbase (ARMY) has already been degraded to the most toxic fandom despite being the most bullied fanbase in the kpop community. Indeed BTS and ARMY are the strongest because we were always there for one another despite the global hardships we face. And now look at them, they have broken records never achieved before, their friendship has made them really strong, and ARMY had been multiplying because of the mutual love the group and fandom share. So happy they stayed together. There will be no other like BTS x ARMY ever.
Every time I watch this I bawl my eyes out. The raw emotions of Hobi, V and Jin are just amazing to watch. Millions of us are thankful they decided to carry on 💜

I'm so glad I could hold it together while watching this, but my whole body was shaking. I love how they were so open and vulnerable, but it breaks my heart to see the strong members like Jin, Hobi, and RM getting emotional. They deserve all the love and support ARMY can give.
This is exactly why armys are so protective over them,people just don't seem to understand.
Now i understand why army always attack people who talked badly about them...before this i always wonder why army so serious about them...they have pure heart and soul
I feel like Namjoon’s coping mechanism when it comes to holding back tears or emotions is when he laughs, he obviously understands the other member’s emotions and is also emotional on the stage but laughing through it is something he gets by to hold in the tears. It’s heartbreaking but I’m glad they are all transparent with themselves and express their struggles to us like this.
Seeing our sunshine and our wwh cry is by this time the hardest things to watch, it breaks my heart to see any of them cry, and how namjoon was behind jungkook all the time so people couldn't see them cry- ugh we don't deserve these angels.
The way RM suppresses pain with smiling just hits hard
I don't know why but every time I'm watching their speech, i really get emotional. This really proves that Hard Work really pays off. after so much hardships they've been through I'm so happy that they overcome all of those.

Ok, yeah... I needed to cry today :) This speech broke all ARMY that day, we were trying to follow real time translation on twitter but meanwhile I could only see our Hobi's smile slowly fading and everyone else getting emotional and breaking down without fully understanding what was happening... damn... And almost 2 years later this still hurts. I'm so happy they got through that time of uncertainty... You've watched the intro/get to know BTS, between 2017/2018 their fame exploded and so many things changed... it was probably really daunting for them! Really recomment wathing their documentaries when you can! Bring The Soul is the one covering 2018, first one for 2017 was Burn the Stage and for 2019 Bring the Soul!
It was the night before my exam.... *sigh*

I was there (Hong Kong) seeing them crying in front of my eyes ..... I didn’t understand much at that moment but I could feel them so I cried with other army beside me ( after seeing the translations online I cried harder 😭)
Daesang is a grand prize. So usually they given more time to speak.
That speech did make me tear up back then and STILL make me tear up AGAIN! BTS shows their true self and not afraid of showing their feelings...that is also what makes them different from other artists.
