great vid. easy. but, you are always flashin with the "BL" whereas other tuts use the AP, even your instructions review this
"Now click on the AP tab on Odin window and select the TWRP recovery .tar file that you downloaded for your device."

What I do Instead of faffing around going back to stock if I need to for any reason is get TWRP up and running and before I do anything involving flashing custom roms I’ll take a back up screenshot of the entire tablet in its original state then name that file STOCK SM-T**** and save it somewhere on an sd card or my computer then I’ll start flashing stuff like custom roms to it and I’ll take a back up screenshot of that as well, that way if I ever need to I can flash it back to stock firmware (apart from TWRP) and I can also switch between roms depending on what I’ve got backed up 👍

thank you, this was very helpful to upgrade my tab 3. most of the guides out there are outdated and have broken links now. unfortunatly i was just wanting to play pokemon go on this tablet but tab 3 is too old now. this os doesent seem to work either dispite it being new enough. going to try lineage OS

Mine is not booting into TWRP. I have unchecked "Auto Reboot" in the options as one commenter said and reupdated it, but it still takes me to the Android System Recovery screen where the options are 1 reboot system now, 2 apply update from ADB, 3 apply update from external storage, 4 wipe data/factory reset, 5 wipe cache partition, 6 apply update from cache. How do I get it to boot into TWRP?

Mr Vette Ive download all the files to a tee even the exact odin version as well also loaded the sd card with the 2 files as you instructed and followed every detail to the letter and it just reboots to stock. Am I missing something?.....btw the devise is in fact a SM-T217s.
This is my very first time trying to do this, I am a retire auto tech of 36 years, I figure I can fix a car with 10 computers in it this should be a breeze.......well its kicking my butt!!!!!!!!!! Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
I bought this tab on the Mercari app for 26 bucks so if i ruin it its no great loss.
When it came it would not stay connect to my wifi it would literally turn off and on every few seconds I tried everything but nothing worked, well i had an old Verizon sims card slapped it in and its working perfectly now..........have you ever heard of such a thing?
    Thanks,
    Chuck

    For SM T210?

    Working on SM-T217S
After loading the TWRP file, it kept booting into the default recovery. Simple fix...
    Start ODIN... Options
    Un-check Auto Reboot
Load the TWERP file as usual and continue
