JA deserves a TON of blame for this one. They showed it on the broadcast!! The pocket was stable, he was fine, BUT he got scared, got the happy feet, pulled his eyes and the ball down and ran. If he'd kept his up and scanning, he would have seen Burkes coming open in the end zone for a TD. That wasn't the only time. JA is not fit to be the OU QB
I think you are a doppelganger for every human. You don't say what ya waitin on. Every human dreams. I can't give you well wishes when i got zero clue what you rep. Post better.
@dogood63 I was right there with you, brother. Watching Arnold in that game reminded me of watching Spencer Rattler back in the 2020 spring game, when Caleb Williams was a freshman.
Gabe, I am going to disagree with you saying guys were not open. Brenen Thompson, and especially Burks, was BOTH open on the play where the pocket was perfect and clean, and he saw a 'ghost', drop his head, and tried to run and got sacked. They kicked a field goal. They replayed the play with an expanded view of the play. The color commentator stated that JA is feeling pressure that isn't there. Deon Burks is waving his arm frantically trying to get JA to throw the ball. And when he didn't, Burks is in the end zone, BEATING THE TURF IN FRUSTRATION BECAUSE HE HAD BEEN OPEN THE WHOLE FREAKING PLAY!
@shadowone5519 Yeah, well, I'm not the only one who saw it. Gabe is human and is very capable of making mistakes. If you watched that game on the SEC network, then you would know that it happened. And you would have seen the replay that clearly showed Deon Burks trying to get JA to throw the ball to him because he was wide the freak open.
JA looks for ways not to hit open receivers. Usually he looks past them but when he lets it go he’s widely off target. I think we can count 3 downfield balls he’s thrown on target this season.
Gotta say, the defense may not be the problem, but they are still a problem. They folded doing the most ridiculous stuff when we needed them the most. Drew Pine has zero business moving the ball like how he did in the second half. Our secondary is not very good, and it’s clear we are still undersized on the LOS. Situationally we are also very inconsistent. Both sides of the ball failed us in that fourth quarter when we needed it the most, point blank. The defense is not holding up when the offense struggles anymore. And flat out, bad coaching by BV when it comes to situational management. On offense he just stands around like he has zero responsibility and is waiting for the defense to come on the field. As much as we all want BV to succeed, all of this is ultimately an indictment on him that most coaches at high profile programs would not survive. His last bullet in the chamber (next season) is looking like it could get jammed in the gun
There won’t be a next season for BV. There’s a lot more humiliation waiting in these next two games. He’s a pretender head coach. Says the right stuff but the results on the field are mediocre. Writing is on the wall.
I think statistically JA now has a higher percentage of the other team scoring off of him than his own team does. At least that is what the ESPN qbr stuff is saying.
I heard that defense breakdown and now getting ready to hear the offense breakdown. But first.! It's time to go pop the top on a red stripe beer.! oh yeah!
Loved Gabe’s deadpan delivery in response to Teddy’s comment about the drive killing nature of the delay of game penalty after the fake punt. I had the same thought. First and goal from the 15? Just kick the FG, before you turn the ball over.

Hard to blame players when the gameplan is terrible and we don’t look coached. Brent has to find an OC with real credentials and creativity. Players have regressed. Brent was able to turn many defensive players who were nobody’s under Riley into solid players. The next OC needs to do what Brent did with our defense
Why is Peyton Bowen returning punts? He has been nothing but sus the entire season. That muff killed us. Then another disaster letting the ball roll and a penalty, another feild postion flip. My God.
Because we just don’t have any talent on the team. The cupboard is bare. Brent cannot build a team. He can build a defense sure, but Lebby and Gabriel were doing a lot of heavy lifting on offense without much else in the talent department.
@@emunetywhat’s sad is that we have had multiple top 10 classes. How do WE miss on evaluating talent every year. Other teams recruits are doing fine except for ours. Coaching needs to be way better that’s what that shows me.
@@emunety - Too many people, including you, are confused about the Sooners level of talent. The OU roster is loaded with blue-chip players, and has been for the past 40+ years. The average recruiting ranking per player is 4-Stars. We have had Top 10 HS recruiting classes for the past 2 years, and are on schedule to bring in a Top 5 class in 2025. So either the national HS recruiting ranks are total BS OR the Sooners are just fine talent-wise. The real problem is that Venables has surrounded himself with a mostly all-star cast of idiot assistant coaches (which brings into question his judgement).
Sharp IS a transfer. And I’m not impressed with his playing and catching ability either. Not sure why Mitchell isn’t getting any playing time. He surely can’t be worse!

I think we may be fortunate we are in the SEC this year because this team would have struggled in the big 12 and that would have made this worse honestly
A team that will never attempt to throw the ball downfield is easy to defend against. Just put all your guys up on the line. Even the commentators noticed that Missouri only had one guy 5 yards back.
Offense only looked good when they had the freshman in at running back #21…sorry can’t remember him by name but young man has positive yards everytime he touch the ball
I believe that JA is suffering from a psychological issue. Despite the offensive line issues, he has had time to make throws down the field, but doesn't. I heard one of the analysts on the SEC network describe it as: "seeing ghost". In other words, he is feeling pressure in the pocket because of past sacks and turnovers, but the pressure he is feeling isnt real. He sees a flash of color and perceived it as an imminent threat and he will drop his head and wait for the impact, instead of keeping his head up an seeing the receivers running open. Pay attention to it. He will drop his head when the clock in his head runs out of time.
It's amazing that OU was still in a position to win until the clock ran out, considering how many times they turned the ball over. I mean, they all but handed Missouri the game. If the Sooners were given that much help they would've clobbered Missouri.
I'm not sure what you was a watchin, but Mizzou line play was superior, their linebackers couldn't be blocked and our receivers couldn't get open. Even the tigers walk-on backup QB who only completed passes to the Tide in his last game looked like the second coming of Sam Bradford agin us. We should disband the program.
Worst part about the game: knowing that while JA threw less than 80 yds and turned the ball over 3 times, Dillon Gabriel set the FBS record in touchdown passes
A rule for life: Never leave a place where you are having fun to go to another place where you think you might have more fun It rarely ever works out. Same goes with Dillon and JA. Stick with a proven commodity. JA sucks.
Gabe, on your softball record issue, Alo only hit 8 homeruns in the half season of 2020. So she hit 114 in her four full seasons. Also Tiarre Jennings hit 98 in her career.. So Chamberlain stands at either 2nd or 3rd all time at OU. I luv me some Lo-jack though. :) As for this football season , the end of this slow torture can't come soon enough. Great pod cast guys.
This loss taught my 3rd grader so many things… all the emotions in just a few minutes time. “Unfortunately Son, this is being a Sooner fan these days.”
I know y'all are tired of me commenting, but this is my therapy session, and I'm getting my money's worth. JA has all the measurables, but unfortunately, not the intangibles. Mental fortitude is not in possession of all men. They're are qb's with less physical talent than JA, but they have mental fortitude. And there are two that come to my mind, that are playing college ball. Haynes King at Georgia Tech, and the qb at Vanderbilt. Inferior talent, but are tough as nails gamers.
Not only does the coaching staff seem to be bad about evaluating offensive talent, they were getting way too excited about a fake punt first down imo. Would you see Bob Stoops or Nick Saban acting like a little child all excited about a first down?? 😂🤦
I jumped on that Sooner Schooner when I was 7, And never jumped off. Now I’m 63. I’ve had the privilege of seeing some of the greatest athletes play for Oklahoma. I’ve witnessed the good times and the bad. This season was not what some of us expected. And there are some that thought we would be right where we are now. I have yelled at the players. The referees. The coaches. And of course, the TV. These young men chose to play Oklahoma Sooner Football. To don the Crimson and Cream, And to Show Up and Show Out. We, as a species, are far from perfect. Our benevolent God knows this. So, at the end of the day, at the end of the game, whether it’s a last second victory or a crushing defeat, Those same young men, wearing their Crimson and Cream, and playing Oklahoma By God Football, are still Human. Boomer Sooner.
it's crazy to think of the hesitation I have to see our offense have to go win a game. Seems like Baker is the only guy I would trust. We need a personality that will take over the game when the offense is struggling. Someone who brings out the best in other players around him...get them shining like he did Sterling.
Jacob Jordan is especially frustrating because it feels like all our ither WRs get a LOOOOONG leash just because of their history with the program, even if they flub a catch. He misses one completion and goes into the doghosue despite his oast performance?
To: Mr. Venables: Set a damn goal (hint: to win a National Championship) Quit "anointing unproven young QB's!" Do EVERYTHING it takes to keep PROVEN QBs (like Dillon) on the team. QBs like Bomar, Rattlehead & Arnold show why we make the QBs EARN A POSITION on the team. We DON'T JUST ANOINT a high school kid ever again & set our program back where we're constantly starting over rebuilding a team.
Im over the BV era i know they are gonna give him a chance to get a good OC but im over it we pulled a Auburn last night and the next two games were probably getting blown out. I think Joe C needs to reach out to Cignetti at Indiana and find out if he is interested and if he is he needs to grab him before another big time school like Michigan or USC grab him because its gonna happen and OU has a shot to get a proven HC in there and if he is interested id go ahead and move on from BV.

This defense did just like the '22 defense did all season long and what the '23 defense did against Kansas, OSU and UCF... Couldn't stop the other team on the other team's final drive. So in Brent's tenure... it is about the tenth time that has happened. One stop to win the game... and couldn't do it.
@@blaynebittencourt5076Not amazing. Just fact. Missouri needed 75 yards to win the game. You stop 'em... you win the game. It's that simple. Couldn't do it. I'm sure you can come up with reasons for all the other times this has happened if you want to.
Back in the summer, people were saying we would go 6-6, and I was hopeful that was false, and skeptical of that. Auburn is messed up, so our win there figures, but the rest, they are all either good or competent SEC teams. It figures they should beat us. Ole Miss and Bama, and Tenn. and LSU should all beat us, the shape we are in. I've been wondering that when DG decided to leave, knowing the O line was all leaving, if he saw this in the tea leaves, so to speak. I was sure when Mizzou went up 16 -9 over us, we were done. I said as much to the wife. We cannot move the ball. They surprised me, when the trick play worked, a miracle play, and then the fumble recovery for a TD another miracle. We couldn't stop them, but the things happened and we were in the driver's seat. Then the line couldn't hold them off again, JA does his same old thing and fumbles, and here we are. My take is, we were beat at 16-9. The rest was gravy we didn't deserve. stuff happens. I mean the good things. But, all the issues we have known about for weeks, they were still there, and frankly I didn't expect us to win another game this year anyway. I want so bad to be positive, I do. Man, I want to find the good in all this mess, but I just can't see it. That doesn't mean it won't come out down the road, next year, but right now, it's dismal. I'm just hopeful about the OC hire, and new players from the Portal along with the maturation of the young O line talent this offseason. That is the crack in the clouds for me. Those cracks are where I hope and expect to see sunlight. I am not wanting anyone's head on a platter. But LEARN. I personally would take the best veteran QB I could convince to come to OU, in the Portal. It's insurance and to potentially be the starter. I would expect the New OC to be on top of that, immediately, and O line talent too. otherwise, next season could be 2.0.
@@kimoandrews5802OU was MINUS THREE in the turnover battle. Yet somehow, they were leading by 7 with two minutes left in the game. That doesn’t really describe a team that got “manhandled” all night. If they did, the score would have been much worse.
Ok Michael Hawkins if you’ll remember the South Carolina game the game was over in the first quarter because of how many times he turn the ball over so it’s not just Jackson Arnold it’s Michael Hawkins as well
Done analyzing this team. All in on Sooners, big BV fan. That said, any D1 staff in the nation could have brought this team to 5-5. Don’t care what they do with coaching staff, who they recruit, who xfers. will just root for Sooners. Can’t be worse next year. We still have Temple.
I just don’t understand how they can be this bad on offense. I mean, they keep saying how Ole Miss spent $10 million in the offseason getting players they need in the trenches on both sides. OU has close to $600 million in NIL funds. And these coaches make north of million dollars for their salary. All I can think is someone REALLY dropped the ball this offseason when it comes to recognizing the weaknesses in your team! I haven’t jumped on the ‘Venables is not a good head coach’ train yet, but he should’ve been more involved in assessing where the weaknesses are on his team. This is really bad. Arnold is literally praying for his life every snap.
I’m in on X-Robinson he was great where the hell has he been all year. I’m out on JA and the offense is just terrible. Why does Jackson refuse to throw the ball. This team is so frustrating.
It’s time for BV to go it’s over. Sark had one bad season that was his first at UT and every single season after that they got better and better. And that was Sarks first season at Texas where it was bad because that’s normal for the first year.
They made a huge mistake letting DG walk for JA. I dont know if he would have stayed either way but they should have done everything they could to keep him.
They Lost it the same way they lost all the others. Always behind the Chains, Lack of QB making plays, Inability to execute Plays that are called, Inexperienced decision Making & Lack of, O-Line getting Whipped every play, on&on&on. Take an Honest Look back at how OU got to this point & that will answer what is happening now!
I believe the offensive staff is seeing the writing on the wall and have checked out. Of course, they're still there and going through the motions for game prep but aren't vested knowing they all will be gone. I was hoping the offense would turn around and make monumental steps of improvement but after the performance Sat they all need to go. Now I'm not sure Brent is capable of running this team.
23 points came off turnovers, including turnover on downs (with shotgun snap on 4th and 1 for an unsurprising loss). The defense, alas, couldn't stop the single unaided drive -- 75 yards in 0:57 -- to close out game. (That uncalled offensive hold hurt too.) Tbh OU doesn't deserve a bowl, hate to say. And 1-7 in SEC seems all but certain, but maybe they can regroup to surprise LSU. Very '90s year. Not fun at all.
It wasn’t an “unaided” drive. They called defensive holding on Washington, who bumped into the receiver when the QB was throwing it out of bounds. That play would have made it 4th & 16. It wasn’t even holding and it DEFINITELY wasn’t a receiver he was throwing toward. Just sayin’
And as far as the defensive holding on Woodi, i'd mind a lot less if our d-line wasn't held 2 out of every 3 snaps, & get like 2 calls a game in their favor. He doesn't even get that throw off w/o a hold giving him time.
The unfortunate thing is if it weren't for terrible coaching and quarterback play, this team could easily be 8 - 2 as Tenn, Ole Miss and Missouri were all winnable games.... but we are 5 - 5. We have too many good athletes on the field to be this bad.
Even if the buyout is $40M+ how can OU not afford to fire Venables before the program is too far gone? We are seeing the Peter Principle play out before eyes. Shades of John Blake.
“The Peter Principle!” A classic description of management, competency, and hierarchies. I’m happy to see in referenced. It explains quite a lot, in football, and in other businesses.
@ Sure does. It’s one thing I got from my business degree at San Diego State. Just because someone is good in their present job it doesn’t mean they will be a good manager or good at the job to which they are promoted
@slundgr common sense says offense is the only problem if both were the problem it would be a head coach problem but it isnt look at the defensive recruiting he is bringing in because of Brent Venables common sense says if you. Fire him those recruits go somewhere else
I think the best way to handle breaking records with people having the COVID year is toss out the stats for the COVID year. Barely anyone got a full normal year of stats that year. If after throwing out the covid year, they still have the record, I would give them the record. In Alo's case, she only had 8 homeruns in the COVID year. Take those out and she's at 114 homeruns which is still more than Lauren Chamberlain. This also makes it fair for players who come in the future who don't have a COVID year to make the records more attainable.
The entire offensive staff needs to go with the exception of Bedenbaugh. Ive been back and forth on him but we're seeing improvement there and its critical to keep as much of that clas together at OL as possible. The personnell decisions and lack of improvement are staggering. The fact that the head coach allows it is very alarming. If BV is going to be the guy he has to get a head coach for the offensive side of the ball and empower him to do whatever he wants. Obviously Brent doesnt know enough about offensive football
@richardchambers5936 yeah I'll agree with that. He's a great recruiter and he gets a pass on all the injuries. I dont understand whoever decided not to play Jacob Jordan Saturday until the 3rd quarter.
Gabe saying he’s more excited to go to a funeral than to talk about the offense pretty much sums it up.

If he'd kept his up and scanning, he would have seen Burkes coming open in the end zone for a TD.
That wasn't the only time. JA is not fit to be the OU QB
He was wide open....
Not a JA fan…
At least OU still turns Qb's into hall of famers I just wish it wasn't the other teams qb's every week!
Been waiting for this one!
I think you are a doppelganger for every human. You don't say what ya waitin on. Every human dreams. I can't give you well wishes when i got zero clue what you rep. Post better.
After the spring game i commented that i didn't think JA was that good. Everyone dogged me. I am sure they all agree now.
Yeah not sure if commentators can see it why Gabe can’t when he saw the tapes
@shadowone5519 Yeah, well, I'm not the only one who saw it. Gabe is human and is very capable of making mistakes. If you watched that game on the SEC network, then you would know that it happened. And you would have seen the replay that clearly showed Deon Burks trying to get JA to throw the ball to him because he was wide the freak open.
@shadowone5519 And He was pounding the ground in the end zone because Jack Ass ducked his head and took a sack.
@@dewittmathews2508Maybe there's a guy following him around on the sidelines calling him a JACKASS ruining his concentration (like on Happy Gilmore)
JA looks for ways not to hit open receivers. Usually he looks past them but when he lets it go he’s widely off target. I think we can count 3 downfield balls he’s thrown on target this season.
Bogo, Jayden Jackson, David stone, Reggie Powers, X Robinson, are Studs. We need a QB, and some Oline really bad
@@junsinator971the only way there isn’t a “next year” for BV is if he resigns.
@@dodgerblue182able get back at me next month. It’s about to get very ugly with what’s to come.

I heard that defense breakdown and now getting ready to hear the offense breakdown. But first.! It's time to go pop the top on a red stripe beer.! oh yeah!
This season can not end soon enough .
16 days off to allow agnostic conversions and subsequent wins.
Loved Gabe’s deadpan delivery in response to Teddy’s comment about the drive killing nature of the delay of game penalty after the fake punt. I had the same thought. First and goal from the 15? Just kick the FG, before you turn the ball over.
I appreciate the position you guys are in and I hear you loud and clear
Good morning men. I am a Longhorn orangeblood and have been since the James Street era. To me OU is the devil, however I love your show. You guys are dialed in the college game. I watch every show and I just want to say to you men to keep it going. I watch a lot of college football shows and you guys are one of the best.in the business. God bless you both and as Spock always said on Star Trek, Live Long and Prosper. Hook "Em!
My God.
Coaches that need to be fired
Because we just don’t have any talent on the team. The cupboard is bare. Brent cannot build a team. He can build a defense sure, but Lebby and Gabriel were doing a lot of heavy lifting on offense without much else in the talent department.
@@emunetywhat’s sad is that we have had multiple top 10 classes. How do WE miss on evaluating talent every year. Other teams recruits are doing fine except for ours. Coaching needs to be way better that’s what that shows me.
@@emunety -
Too many people, including you, are confused about the Sooners level of talent. The OU roster is loaded with blue-chip players, and has been for the past 40+ years. The average recruiting ranking per player is 4-Stars. We have had Top 10 HS recruiting classes for the past 2 years, and are on schedule to bring in a Top 5 class in 2025. So
either the national HS recruiting ranks are total BS OR the Sooners are just fine talent-wise. The real problem is that Venables has surrounded himself with a mostly all-star cast of idiot assistant coaches (which brings into question his judgement).

Arnold is seeing ghosts out there, Gabe.
I think we may be fortunate we are in the SEC this year because this team would have struggled in the big 12 and that would have made this worse honestly
Logan Howland needs to live with Lane Johnson this offseason.
Gabe's description of the Utah AD taking the podium was faf.😅
A team that will never attempt to throw the ball downfield is easy to defend against. Just put all your guys up on the line. Even the commentators noticed that Missouri only had one guy 5 yards back.
Very true, 8 man boxes are very difficult to run against.
@kimoandrewsyou are not a fan get lost5802
Amen Logan Howland developing.
robinson also made a monster tackle on one of the times we turned the ball over.
Defense wins games, BUT offense can LOSE games!
When I need a laugh, I always find some OU commentary!! LMAO!!
If BV wants to keep his job, these two need to become “special advisors”
Worst part about the game: knowing that while JA threw less than 80 yds and turned the ball over 3 times, Dillon Gabriel set the FBS record in touchdown passes
A rule for life: Never leave a place where you are having fun to go to another place where you think you might have more fun
It rarely ever works out.
I hate it but nothing changes without an offensive guru in the building and an off season to fix it
This loss taught my 3rd grader so many things… all the emotions in just a few minutes time. “Unfortunately Son, this is being a Sooner fan these days.”
At least BV is providing a great family culture and turning players into fine young gentleman 🤮
That’s the scam that John Blake pulled too in 99.
Well go get those 2 OU players out of jail.
The Schooner is the Jacuzzi of wagons.
We've begun to be very good at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory...................
JA is an absolute bust. They need to get him in the portal with help because I'm certain he'll fumble his way there if not.

This one was damn tough to watch as a Sooner fan
Robinson tho looks great at rb
How tf has he not played all year?!
it's crazy to think of the hesitation I have to see our offense have to go win a game. Seems like Baker is the only guy I would trust. We need a personality that will take over the game when the offense is struggling. Someone who brings out the best in other players around him...get them shining like he did Sterling.
What about when Arnold missed Burks for a TD in the first half? He had a clean pocket and took off running. No pocket presence. Bench him....
Jacob Jordan is especially frustrating because it feels like all our ither WRs get a LOOOOONG leash just because of their history with the program, even if they flub a catch. He misses one completion and goes into the doghosue despite his oast performance?
If Florida gators can stick with Billy! Then OU should stick with BV! We gotta let him get his fair shake at it. BIG BOOMER SOONERS! 🅾️🙌🏾

Amazing. The defense handed the team the win but the offense can't keep the damn ball, but yeah it's the defenses fault.

I agree with Gabe, the O line played good enough to to win the game.
The Mizzou D-line manhandled us.

Really liked the defense this year. Going to be tough replacing guys.
Should have went to Casey Thompson like 7 games ago 😂
He is injured
He would be deceased playing behind this o-line. The guy has worse knees than Jason White.

Let’s see some real frustration boys 😂
Burks was open for a deep touchdown early in game. However,, Arnold panicked in a good pocket therefore did not see him
23 points came off turnovers, including turnover on downs (with shotgun snap on 4th and 1 for an unsurprising loss).
If Oklahoma's new offensive coordinator picks Jackson Arnold to be the quarterback, the 2025 season is over before it starts 🤦
We need to give venables atleast 2 more years
The unfortunate thing is if it weren't for terrible coaching and quarterback play, this team could easily be 8 - 2 as Tenn, Ole Miss and Missouri were all winnable games.... but we are 5 - 5. We have too many good athletes on the field to be this bad.
Even if the buyout is $40M+ how can OU not afford to fire Venables before the program is too far gone? We are seeing the Peter Principle play out before eyes. Shades of John Blake.
Because Venables doesn't run the offense are you seriously this clueless

Keep emmit Jones too
@richardchambers5936 yeah I'll agree with that. He's a great recruiter and he gets a pass on all the injuries. I dont understand whoever decided not to play Jacob Jordan Saturday until the 3rd quarter.
