We were really hoping Bama overlooked that whole LSU at A&M game film… you know, where the backup qb came in and ran all over LSU. And you’re sitting there with Jaylen Milroe. Vandy is gonna kill us.
Bama done the same thing to a T last year. We didn't need a film that was going to happen either way. I honestly thought they would have a plan for it but no. I was honestly stressing the LSU game more than the Tennessee game. LSU is a better team.
I disagree that the holding call at the end of the BYU game wouldn't have been called on BYU. I mean, it's possible, but BYU had a non existent face mask called on them earlier in the game that saved that drive and led to a TD for Utah. I've also heard people who were at the game say the refs had issued Utah many warnings about holding prior to calling it.
Josh, I love the show and I understand and like the JP Poll. If people confuse the AP Poll process of merit ranking with the JP Poll of rating match ups on neutral, then why do you compare them yourself? Wouldn't it make more sense to compare power rating to power rating?
I will say Josh is absolutely right about Colorado. I met 2 New Zealand guys in Guatemala this year. Don’t watch a lick of football they only care about rugby and FIBA basketball. And they LOVE Colorado and Shedeur Sanders lol
No. It started in the 2019 season. It was masked somewhat because of Trevor Lawrence and Etienne but it was happening. This was after Jeff Scott left as OC. The slide was mostly offensive, and before Venables even left. Obviously losing him was a big blow and there was no way there wasn't going to be a step back after that, but most fans will tell you the slide started earlier than him leaving.
Crazy how Tennessee has the best defense in CFB and is sitting at #1 in the SEC and gets absolutely 0 love. Quietly one of the best teams in the country let alone SEC. Crazy how much the media hates talking about the big orange. 🍊🍊
#2 defense in college FB. Texas is #1. People only score on Texas' defense on short fields (turnovers) or when the backups are in. PFF's rankings says it all.
In the BYU game, the officiating was not the best but it was actually in favor of the dirty Utes! There was another holding call on BYU that was less of a hold than that late holding call. Also, there were TWO facemask calls, both of which were bad calls, both of which went in favor of Utah, one of which set Utah up for their last TD. I guess you can point out bad officiating but it IS NOT why Utah lost that game!!
As a die hard Auburn fan, I want to thank you for your service this season Josh. Unfortunately I have made the decision to forget that football even exists and focus my full attention on basketball. Go Freights, and I’ll see you in April (after Auburn breaks my heart in the tournament once again)!
The freshman QB for Ole Miss (Simons?) deserves a hat tip. He didn't play much, but he came in cold off the bench in a huge game and did a very good job.
As a Bama fan I can’t help but wonder how those players of ours who transferred to FSU after Saban retired are feeling about that decision now. Roydell Williams was the starting RB for the Tide last season. He’s a fifth year senior this year and is now a disaster along with the rest of the Seminoles. Hope you’re enjoying Tallahassee, Roydell. You would have been lucky to be third on the depth chart at Bama this season.
I feel you but Roydell didn’t all he could do at Bama. Sat and waited turn and played his part. He made a business decision that just didn’t work out. I don’t fault him at all for leaving. Can’t say the same for a few others.
As someone who would feel that way about other transfers, roydell left because he saw the writing on the wall. He would’ve been third on the chart because jam and justice fit the scheme a lot better. Now Isiah bond is a completely different story he sold out for a lambo …
@@blk_fist3057 Same here. Roydell is an exception. I think he knew, or was told, that his role would be diminished and that Jam Miller and Justice Haynes were going to be the primary backs. Others like Malik Benson were non-factors at Alabama and are not missed at all.
For anyone wondering about the once a year Whiteout thing for Penn State, they are only allowed to use the promotion once per year in a deal they made with the Utah Hockey Club (formerly Arizona Coyotes) who trademarked from back when they were in Winnipeg.
I think this year will show why giving conference champions an automatic bid is a terrible idea. It was touch on if oergon gets 5 and has to play georgia. Sure banger of a game, buti think that we should just rank teams 1-12 and make sure it includes the top 5 conference champions are garenteed inincludes, but just flat rank them. We're giving the championship game too much merit. No one thinks that colorado deserves a 1st round bye with 2 losses over a one loss oergon.
I used to be against this type of playoff ranking but it actually makes more sense given the scenario you described. Winning your conference would still hold weight without penalizing a better team that dropped one game and it would reduce injuries going into the playoff as someone else mentioned.
@rdelrinc i disagree. You are rewarding teams that snuck into their conference championship who then win their championship and giving them a higher seed over a team that has been dominant all year.

Does the SEC go to divisions to avoid future cannibalism after next year? Seeing the talented SEC teams continually knock each other off compared to the B1G that seem to have less balance appears to be hurting the conferences chances at the CFP. Teams in the B1G seem to be thriving like Penn State who played a #19 Illinois and won, but have only played another ranked OSU and lost, but sit in the top 5. Or OSU who beat Penn and lost to #1 Oregon but haven’t played another ranked team yet. Or Indiana who hasn’t played a ranked team yet.

@@Person.7.1 There are no SEC fans complaining. Our teams are just proving that they are the best in the country. Only teams that can truly compete will be Ohio State and Oregon. With the expanded playoffs, I think the conference championship games should be dispensed with. Stats would determine the conference winners. Those games are just injuring players and ruining the whole premise of the playoff system. When the loser of those games can still get in, it makes little sense. If anything, the top team gets a bye and two of the next best could play a wildcard, but I'm still against it. The game is too physical. Not like other sports where the potential for injuries are much less. You want the teams to be at their best health to get a true measure of who's the best team. Florida State lost their star QB last year and was deemed unworthy for the playoffs a spot because of it. I mean damn! Let the players get healthy for the playoff run.
I agree. I would have never agreed with this a few years ago but I can't seem to find many benefits to the CC game anymore. Getting rid of the CC game actually makes more sense. Winning your conference would still hold weight and reducing the chance for player injuries would also be a huge benefit. I really don't care to see what is essentially another conference game at the expense of player safety and a better matchup against another conference.
If a 12-1 BYU who was undefeated in the regular season and has a win over the ACC champ in SMU is left out in favor of a ND team who lost to NIU or a 5th SEC team, we should just tear this whole thing down.
I get losses look bad, but the BEST 12 teams should be in the playoff. I dont care who as long as it is the best 12 teams. I dont want to see a 3 loss SEC team beat an undefeated BYU 45-10. I feel like this happens with South Carolina every year. They struggle or drop a game they shouldn’t, people jump off of SC and then they win a game that nobody had them winning and all of a sudden nobody has any clue what’s going on. I’m not a SC fan but I’ve felt they have been gettin a little disrespected by national media. And at the same time I understand the apprehension.
Weird idea. No more auto bids. If you are within the top 12 at the end of the season, you can not drop out of the top 12 regardless of your championship game results. You can move up or down within the top 12 but not out of the top 12. The 4 highest ranked conference championship winners get a bye but only if they are within the final top 12 after the championship games. If there isn't 4, the highest overall seeds would get the byes respectively. Keeps championship games relevant, doesn't screw anyone else because other conferences are a hot mess.
I think he is right about big10 and SEC deciding to walk away if they don’t get what the want. Too bad they are too fragile in ego and weak to prove it. College football just keeps getting worse and worse.
The story line about Georgia is how poorly Carson Beck is playing. Turn overs and failing to read the open receiver. This Georgia team is not a CFP national championship contender. That defense is but that offense is poor. Carson Beck NFL stock sliding rapidly.
Waaaaay too much is being made of the Georgia win at Texas. In the first half the Texas QB couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. UT's worst game of the year.

We were really hoping Bama overlooked that whole LSU at A&M game film… you know, where the backup qb came in and ran all over LSU. And you’re sitting there with Jaylen Milroe.
Vandy is gonna kill us.
I hoping we can get it figured out by then. But I'm not getting my hopes up.
Bama done the same thing to a T last year. We didn't need a film that was going to happen either way. I honestly thought they would have a plan for it but no. I was honestly stressing the LSU game more than the Tennessee game. LSU is a better team.
These playoff scenarios are great! I love it! Thanks Josh!
Josh always lifts my spirits when I’m down ❤️
I disagree that the holding call at the end of the BYU game wouldn't have been called on BYU.
I agree 💯 what is the point comparing the 2
I will say Josh is absolutely right about Colorado. I met 2 New Zealand guys in Guatemala this year. Don’t watch a lick of football they only care about rugby and FIBA basketball. And they LOVE Colorado and Shedeur Sanders lol
I was in Germany and met people there who love them as well
Sad Mark Harlan was the topic instead of talking about a gutsy performance from Utah, and another game winning drive by BYJew.
Clemson's slide seemed to start with the loss of their DC to Oklahoma. A move that in hind sight worked out bad for both schools
100%
Grass ain't always greener! RTR🐘🏈🏆
Richard young is a beast and Daniel Hill is looking great too! Roydell would've been 4th string
Great video!!!
I think it’s a cool story that, now that troops are home, the service academies are good again 🙏
Georgia will revert back to 00’ dawgs with Mike Bobo. What a joke of an offense
Kirby said ole miss is the best team they’ve played so far. Reading too much into that. I would say the same thing after a big road loss.
SMU will beat Miami for the ACC title. The problem with Miami is that they haven't played a ranked team and won't play one until the ACCCG.
Disappointed that you didn’t give any coverage to the cyclones this week. KU is the best 6 loss team in the country.
I flew from NC to tiger stadium to watch that game and as a BAMA fan and my birthday weekend, IT WAS
GREAT TO SEE THE TIDE ROLL
For anyone wondering about the once a year Whiteout thing for Penn State, they are only allowed to use the promotion once per year in a deal they made with the Utah Hockey Club (formerly Arizona Coyotes) who trademarked from back when they were in Winnipeg.
Listening from Evergreen , Alabama
Listening from somewhere deep in the South Alabama woods! RTR🐘🏈🏆
Totally agree
@rdelrinc i disagree. You are rewarding teams that snuck into their conference championship who then win their championship and giving them a higher seed over a team that has been dominant all year.

This show is very SEC heavy. I personally think if you want good commentary on the other conferences, other analysts would be better.
Glad you gave that shout out to Diego Pavia. You should have thrown the Hugh Freeze jab in there with that too. Wazoo could very well be sitting there at 11-1 as the G6 champion with their only loss to Boise State
They’re not in the g5 tho. They’re a p5 team with zero impressive wins playing a g5 schedule.

@@TyrantTigers I’d take Tulane, Ull, army and Boise above wazzu if I were the playoff committee and we both know at least one of those teams will win out. Even if they didn’t the g5 bid is only for conference champs and wazzu doesn’t even have a conference so they’d have to make it at large with no impressive wins and a blowout loss to Boise.
@@TyrantTigers Wazoo isn't considered a G5/6 school yet. They are considered independent like Notre Dame atm (until 2026 when the PAC reforms). They don't have a conference championship game to play in, so the best they can do is an at large spot.
They still lost to a Kentucky team that is 1-6 in the SEC, that's probably why people would doubt they can win multiple big games in a row.
I haven’t rewatched the lsu game but it seemed to me the lsu defense had players in position to deal with milroe’s legs. I don’t think they were ready for his speed and agility. Can’t blame anyone for that dude’s a freak

@@adamlawrence450 yeah because the SEC had an auto bid in the championship game every year no matter how they did while the Big10 had to be undefeated. Not to mention they paid players under the table. Top 2 teams in the country this year are Big10
A listless Ohio State literally played 5 games and still made the playoff in 2020.
It doesn’t hurt the conference. It just proves that the SEC is an absolute gauntlet of a conference.
This is the kind of stuff fans said about the PAC-12 for years, so I think it’s kinda funny to see the SEC dealing with it and seeing their fans complain about it now that they have to deal with it.
@@Person.7.1 There are no SEC fans complaining. Our teams are just proving that they are the best in the country. Only teams that can truly compete will be Ohio State and Oregon. Oregon will probably win it all. But there will be at least 4 if not 5 SEC teams in the playoff and probably 3 Big10. That is dependent on how Indiana does at Ohio State.
@@Person.7.1I’ve never heard that about the pac 12. They’ve never had multiple top tier teams that you could consider themselves as eating their own. I can’t remember a season aside from last year where the pac 12 had more than one team that maybe had a shot at the national title.
@@Person.7.1 Naw, Pac 12 wasn't good until last year.

Why is it South Carolina and Georgia have 7 conference games and the other 6 and SC is ranked so low? One more win we hope coming this weekend.
Maybe the SEC should actually play 9 conference games like the others.
And not schedule community colleges in November 🤫

What I feel it should be...
Each P4/P5 team should be play 3 ooc games and 9 ic games.
Those 3 ooc games are the first 3 games you play, no matter what. 1 P4/P5, 1 G5, and either another P4/5, G5 or in-state lower division. After that, THEN the first official rankings should come out.

We had a horrible game in all phases. And have proven to struggle against mobile QB's. This is his first year. I belive we have the right people in place.
Personally I believe LSU will be dangerous in the future. As long as we keep our recruiting up. However, this year is going as I thought it would before the season started. I thought we were going to over preform for about 2 weeks. Now we just need to finish strong.
If you're gonna get blown out, I could think of worst teams to get blown out by. It still stings though.

Born and raised in Columbia… mizzou fan and was at that game. I’m terrified watching mizzou play every time, but I didn’t have a voice by the end of that game. Maybe they lose next week, but this week was awesome. MIZ
As a SC fan, I’m a little worried. We just don’t play well against Mizz. This is the most complete team we’ve had in a long time but I still worry we might drop the ball on this one. But then again, against the top SEC teams, Mizz has looked horrible so hopefully I’m wrong.
Colorado is such a good story in college football that they’ve been telling us about it for two years…
With the expanded playoffs, I think the conference championship games should be dispensed with.
What happened to "Dark Kirby being activated" after the Texas game. 🤔
very grateful for LSU or us Georgia fans would’ve gotten the sarah mclachlan special
People forget Tennessee did this to LSU in Death Valley in the 2022 season. Pretty sure it was the same score, too. No one talks about that ever.

At this point in the season u are who u are, Miami can’t play defense. Thats who they are 💯
It's wild to grasp, but LSU's SEC title hopes are not done. If UGA beats Tennessee, then LSU will be near the top of tiebreaker scenarios for 2nd.
SEC AD poked the bear with Ole Miss. They're playing angry now. Dont underestimate them.
If a 12-1 BYU who was undefeated in the regular season and has a win over the ACC champ in SMU is left out in favor of a ND team who lost to NIU or a 5th SEC team, we should just tear this whole thing down.

Josh, Losses have to count.
Mike norvell shouldn’t have fired anyone from his staff. I blame the opt outs. The starters are still opting out from that bowl game against Georgia.
You know it's a crazy year in the SEC when Georgia plays both Mississippi schools, but Bama doesn't.
No to Indiana but yes to Colorado what a joke take😅😅
With how dominant Indiana has been this year, I think a two possession or less lost to Ohio State should guarantee that Indiana gets into the playoffs
I think he is right about big10 and SEC deciding to walk away if they don’t get what the want. Too bad they are too fragile in ego and weak to prove it. College football just keeps getting worse and worse.
It is less and less college football and more and more mercenary football
The story line about Georgia is how poorly Carson Beck is playing. Turn overs and failing to read the open receiver. This Georgia team is not a CFP national championship contender. That defense is but that offense is poor. Carson Beck NFL stock sliding rapidly.
They set these narratives up based on script, they rigg it with this kind of logic so dumb sheep never pick up on it, it's all controlled outcomes
It’s the Mike Bobo effect. Fire his you know what.
Waaaaay too much is being made of the Georgia win at Texas. In the first half the Texas QB couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. UT's worst game of the year.
Indiana vs Notre Dame in the first round would end hunger in the state of Indiana. What does the model say about an IU vs ND game?
Hearing Georgia fans use injuries as an excuse is truly music to my ears as a Bama fan lol. Oh how the turn tables.
