I was really blown away by this episode and was surprised about how much I had started to root for Otto Hightower throughout this episode, which I never saw coming! Rhys Ifans deserves an Emmy or something man, his performance is just phenomenal
Best episode of HotD so far, props to you for acknowledging how Rhaenera wouldn't let her son go scout, but was fine letting her sons betrothed go scout. You're the only person/channel I've heard so far that either acknowledged or mentioned that
I feel like Otto is quickly becoming the Tywin of this series. Maybe not as intelligent as Tywin but he clearly is a stern nobleman who puts politics and family prestige first at the expense of his relatives' personal wellbeing. He's always about playing the long game as a noble but doesn't always know how to comfort like a parental figure should and he passes that trauma onto his daughter who can barely comfort her own children when they need it. Let's not forget it was also Otto's idea to put Alicent in the good grace of king Viserys so she could become queen. He also has to deal with his aggressive and inexperienced grandson who technically outranks him but whom he still tries to guide. Also, Otto's lecture to Aegon which ended with Otto losing his position as Hand of the King, brilliant scene, all the actor killed it with their tones, expressions and body language!
What drives this point home is the fact that he doesn't even call Alicent by name. He just calls her "daughter" emphasizing he sees her more as an object or idea than a person.

6:46 I never thought of it that way, I thought maybe his family would die due to starvation or riots and it would drive him slowly to the deep end. I actually would love if they went with your direction
SPOILER Rhaenys will be dead before Addam and Alyn attempt to claim dragons. So I don't she'll have to confront the Hulls. Further, the boys have been aged up. No one would believe they are Laenor's sons.
To be fair I think Daemon’s reputation is souring with the audience too, not at nearly the rate he deserves, but most tend to side with Rhaenyra or Rhaenys during their scenes with Daemon
Have you ever considered that the Westerosi historians have made/written Lady Misery bigger/more involved in the civil war/kinslaying, which the Dance of the Dragons is, then she actually might have been? Xenophobia, her common heritage and sexism of the Maesters perhaps being the reason she is written more mischevuous, scheming and influential then she actually was… I mean she is the perfect kind of person to use as a patsy after the war, when the surviving greens and blacks need to find the slightest common ground. It would also be hilarious if Ulf and Hugh are actually the ones with the „good intentions“ and are looking for the better of the Westerosi people… and Addam of Hull seeking for his personal gain and climbing the social ladder
One thing that this and the next episode hinted at is that Helaena Targaryen may be on the spectrum. This could explain why she's so antisocial and quiet around others and her muted reaction when Blood and Cheese killed her son and why she is so reclusive and disturbed by the crowd of mourners.
I was very impressed with the episode and thought that it might be the best of the entire series so far. As far as Otto Hightower goes he seems to be a planner and plotter much in the vein of Tywin Lannister. Both men are a bit machiavellian. The duel was amazing and tragic.
They say that but Jaeherys was the greatest king in Westeros history and he managed to keep the throne longest without being a constant warlord. But I guess depending on the times one does have to be a war leader if the circumstances are present
Otto and the other Hightowers really hold Oldtown together. Sam's first view of it on screen untouched by the war, with the music sticks with me. Only for those troublesome reavers to probably burn it

The twins duel could be an epithet of the dance as a whole
It pretty much is.
Well said
Daemon is Pure evil just like Maegor…….Morrally grey characters don’t kill kids and act smug about it
It is clear that they don't want to show child cruelty, and only go all out to adult scenes.
I thought the dual was amazing and I like that Aegon is being humanized.

I love the fact that the audience hates Criston Cole with passion while very same audience still roots for a child murderer like Daemon.
To be fair I think Daemon’s reputation is souring with the audience too, not at nearly the rate he deserves, but most tend to side with Rhaenyra or Rhaenys during their scenes with Daemon
great episode

I loved Aegon in this episode. His character is flawed yes, but damn his actor brought his A-game for this episode.
One thing that this and the next episode hinted at is that Helaena Targaryen may be on the spectrum. This could explain why she's so antisocial and quiet around others and her muted reaction when Blood and Cheese killed her son and why she is so reclusive and disturbed by the crowd of mourners.

They need to cast Charlie Hunnam for Aegon the Conquerer. I guess that will be one of the next shows.
The two next confirmed shows are a Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and Aegon's Conquest
I didn't expected that I would symphatize with Otto so much.
Otto Hightower is a Clever Man but doesn’t have the relentless ruthlessness in order to win the Game of Thrones
They say that but Jaeherys was the greatest king in Westeros history and he managed to keep the throne longest without being a constant warlord. But I guess depending on the times one does have to be a war leader if the circumstances are present
The Show wants Rhaeynra to be like Dany but in the books she was just like Cersi
All true fans know that many accusations against her are GREEN PROPAGANDA mixed with the medieval perspective against a woman Ruler
Book is a biased history
Otto is Tywin just less ruthless
Otto and the other Hightowers really hold Oldtown together. Sam's first view of it on screen untouched by the war, with the music sticks with me. Only for those troublesome reavers to probably burn it
Otto is going to Highgarden not Oldtown, which is why we probably won't see Daeron until season 3.
This entire season has felt like the action season 1 has been building up to. very epic
