When you send to the printer you can then select from the drop down to match the colors sliced to what you have in the printer. When preparing remove the filament with (-) and then add a single generic PLA grey ( or Bambu PLA ) and when you go to print you can then select the AMS slot at that point. Be aware that the filament you slice with should be similar enough with the filament you are printing with, it can cause issues. If you're using carboard spools in the AMS you will need to clean it more frequently.
Ok, thanks for the tips! I am using cardboard spools now, but i am thinking of switching to bambu filament in the plastic spools. I am hoping my slice settings will work for their PLA so I don't have to redo everything!
@@chaddiy3512 A few notes, the existing slices for generic PLA should work fine for Bambu PLA for all but the most extreme prints. If you slice for Bambu you should make sure to use a rapid PLA. You can actually print blank spools compatible with Bambu refills from Makerworld designs including the official spool design. When bought in bulk refills they are not expensive for some really nice filament, I highly recommend the charcoal matte, SOOO NICE.
@@chaddiy3512 This was a great real life expetience view. Thank YOU!! After months of searching for an upgrade from my Ender 5, I finally ordered the Bambu P1S this week along with a load of accessories, including the hardened nozzles and extruder as well as assorted filaments to get the Black Friday benny's. I just wanted to let you know that there are TONS of vids (and Bambu themselves), saying IF USING CARDBOARD SPOOLS, you really need to print off some plastic edge rims. The cardboard dust creates havoc on the parts, as well as the rubber rollers in the AMS slip when rolling on the cardboard rims. I know you know what you're doing, but just in case you weren't aware.
@chaddiy3512 For the cardboard spools there are files on bambus makerworld website where there's spool rings that just clip onto each aide of the spool. Very simple print cheap filament cost, and quick print.
@@chaddiy3512 You can just use electrical tape stretched around the edges of the cardboard spools, I have hundreds and hundreds of hours on my AMS using this method and have had no issues.
When you hit print and it pulls up the little image that shows what color is going to be used, click the bottom and it will show all 4 colors. Select which color you want to use and then send to printer. That way you can keep 4 colors in the printer and just select which one is used. This makes it so easy to switch the same print to another color.
I don't have an AMS, but I'm almost certain that you can choose colors during slicing settings - there's an option above settings to synchronize colors with what's in your AMS, and then you can right click any object (or hold shift and drag your mouse to select multiple objects then click), and there's an option at the bottom to change the filament. I can't test this, but let me know if it works.
Bambu X1C allows you to change colors at the touch screen. I believe the Bambu handy app lets you also but the touch screen on the X1C is simple enough for me.
I decided not to get an AMS with my A1 because I print things intended to be painted, or to remain in the filament colour. But apart from colour changing, having one is a convenience for business use, since you can just load up 4kg and print, clear the plate, repeat for days. If you get one of the upcoming automatic plate changers for the A1 Mini, it's even theoretically possible to leave a printer unattended for days with multiple plates worth of print jobs.
@@chaddiy3512 It's somewhere between crowdfunding and release, I think. Only the Mini too. Not sure why there isn't one for the larger A1, but there could be technical/physical reasons like shape, weight, whatever. I'm sure we'll conveyor belt-fed printers soon at this rate :)
Thanks for sharing, if you print from the app or SD card you should be able to quick select which ams slot to use for witch color. (at least on the A1 series it works that way)
Hello, what do you mean by the pop up menu? Are you talking about the app or the computer software? My hope was I could just do it from the screen on the printer itself. I am pretty new to the Bambu machines...so still learning them!
@@chaddiy3512 Fellow Minnesotan here! I'm guessing @Killa_Prints is referring to the dialog box that pops up in Bambu Studio when you select "Print." You can choose which AMS slot the filament is mapped to. If the filament has exactly the same settings it shouldn't be an issue. I was having a little difficulty following what your issue exactly was...but if I understand correctly, what you could do is create a single file of your object, and within that file, create four print plates. Use one plate for each color filament, and then fill each plate with a single color so you can print multiple objects of the same color per slicing. OR if you're trying to print multiple objects of different color on the same plate, you can select "print by object" instead of "print by layer" in the "Others" section of the settings. The printer would then print one object in one color, then change to the next color, print that object, change color, print the next object, and so on. Depends on how large the objects are though.
use Orca slicer (it's the goat) and use per object sequential printing (under others in global print sequence) if you want to say print 3 objects on the same plate but in different colours.
For colors: save the project and duplicate the plate 2 times (since you have 3 active printers). This is so you can change the material on each printer’s plates without having to re-slice every time you print on the different printers. When you have different plates in the project, you can lock each plate to specific settings. I lock the plate types for each printer, that way when the plate slices, it is on the correct plate, despite the global setting. This is also good if you are printing multiple models by model, not layer. With the AMS, if the print is model is small enough, you can set up the individual models colors and print 1 model at a time so you don’t do a ton of filament changes.
Wow, thanks for the great tips, this will save me a lot of time! I came from using Ender 3's and slicing in Cura, so not only am I leaning new printers...but also a brand new software. I really appreciate your comment, thanks again!
If your changing the whole model colour it’s easy when your model is on the build plate before you slice select it highlight it (white square around it ) in the ams your filament rolls are numbered 1-4 on your computer keypad just hit the number with the colour you want 1 is roll 2 and so on
You don't have to slice the parts for every color if the filaments are of the same type. Before sending the file, pick a color then send. If you do a production run, you can have 4 spools of the same and have auto-fill do the job. That way you have zero waste, run non stop and quickly change filament between print job.
Should look into getting 0.6mm nozzles and using variable layer heights to save a bunch of time. Reduced a lot of my print times by 20% or more. With arachne wall slicing theres almost 0 reduction in quality even with complicated geometry, to my eye at least.
Yeah, I have read about people doing that. Right now I feel like these Bambu's are so fast already coming from working with Ender 3's. But I am sure there will be a time where I will want them faster!
I sell five different products that are saved onto my micro SD card all files are sliced in the color black PLA. I offer my products in black or white. If i send the print file from my phone I can select a different AMS slot color as long as it is the same material.
You can not pick color from the display on a P1S however you can in the Handy app or within Bambu Studio when you send it to the printer. What part of MN, I lived in Brooklyn Park for 6 years and Saint Cloud before that.
Oh that’s cool, I’m up north now, but I worked in Brooklyn Park and other parts of the cities for 10 years. Thanks for confirming about the display...that is what I figured.
Here is the answer you are looking for. You can send the model one time to the printer and then print whichever color you want from the Bambu Handy app. Here is how: 1. Choose correct printer at the top. 2. Hit the 3 line icon to the right of the printer name. 3. Select MicroSD card and you will see your models. 4. Click "Start Print" on one of the models which will show a page where you can select things about your print job such as whether you want to do flow calibration and bed leveling. 5. In the Filament Assignment section it will show the filament in slot 1 by default. Just touch that button and it will show all 4 filaments that are loaded. Choose the color you want and "Start Print"
@@chaddiy3512 You Bet! Lot of benefits in the app actually. Example: Hit "unload filament" on NON AMS printer from the kitchen table before you head out to the shop. It will be ready to pull out when you get there.

Yep, you can set product weight an Etsy as well. There are some items that I come really close to crossing the weight threshold to were shipping will cost more. For these Items I just have to make sure not to use too much packing filler and tape that can cause you all of the sudden to be an oz over.
