I just love your passion for the tractor, and no bullshit adventure rides! Your channel shows real world shit, riding alone, real problems without all the fluff. Waiting for part 2...Much respect for the SOLO UNSUPORTED Simpson Desert Crossing. That was epic!. Just got my DRZ-400 S last year and took a few adventure rides here in the US.. I'd give just about anything to take another ride with my Dad again(he is gone as well). Instead I'll ride with my kids and pass it on. Just now teaching number 4 of 4 to ride. She has a long way to go but might be pushing my ass up a mountain in a few years! Would love to come ride down there to ride. Love the vids from Australia. Yours is one of the better ones. Keep it up!
@Joe Root, thanks for the compliments. Yeah I try to pride myself on filming as it comes and the reality of solo riding in the tough stuff. Even though a love every aspect of it, it certainly gets tough at times and I question myself. Awesome with your kids riding, I can't wait till mine are a tad older and joining me.

@Doug Jackson, you won’t believe it. Out of 221 clips your one is the only one with zero audio. I get plenty of corrupt files, or poor audio files, or just unusable files, bet never zero audio. Lol. Ridiculous. 👍

@TheBigBraap!!, thanks mate. Yeah that first tricky bit was only a few kilometres into the dirt. With so many months of zero riding it had me questioning myself. Post that hill it all came back to me pretty quickly 👍
That was so good! Sally the DRZ what a legend. Great tracks, I liked how you assessed the water crossings and glad you got through. Pity re wet weather and affecting some of the great scenery. Scary on one's own and crashing, glad you got out of that off! Great commentary! 👍😁
@Bob Drakefore, yeah she did me proud old Sally. Definitely struggled at the higher altitudes though. Yeah those crossings were way more risky then they looked on camera. Part 2 is even worse. I just hate getting defeated and turning back. However there was no way I was riding through not knowing where the big rocks were. Dropping the bike there would be a ride ending event.
@Steve Mason, absolutely, nothing beats a small dual sports for proper adventure riding. Your able to explore much more challenging terrain with confidence I feel. There is no way in the world I would have tackled the stair climb in the wet or those swollen creeks on a 1000cc.
Definitely sensing a trend here on YT. The big capacity bikes are a bit like the SUVs of this world. Glorious on the road and a bit of gravel track perhaps at a pinch but not ideal off-road trailing and seldom seen there. Horses for courses I reckon. I guess that the big trees are growing where the natural wild fires don’t tend to pass through. Stunning and vast wilderness landscapes like we in the uk just don’t really have. Still envious!😂
wow epic riding in the wet. I did Deddick in my 4wd ranger back in Nov 2020. Super easy. I actually own a DRZ with a wide ratio gearbox and can't believe you made it up Joan staircase with 15/44 gearing. Great effort.
@Nathan O’Conner, yeah it’s an awesome bit of bush track. The GoPro made it look fairly simple, but it was definitely challenging in the conditions. zero traction to be had. Very lucky To of pulled it off without issue.
Nice ride and well done on beating the elements. You’re a brave man riding at the moment with all the rain! Fun to watch your adventure. Tried identifying the route you took on Maps. Would you be able to share the route you took as it’ll be great to follow. Loved your Simpson desert video too.

Looking back I m glad it rained on one of the days as it really tested my riding and what I’m able to get up and down. Just wished the GoPro showed how significant all those obstacles where. After editing my part 2 I hate river crossing lol. Nearly lost my bike in one later in my trip.
That closed track you chose not to go through was probably for the best, very rough and steep and in the wet with a loaded bike would have probably not been doable, great track in good conditions though, came the opposite way a few months ago
Tall gearing I believe helped you in the slippery conditions being more gentle on the power delivery. Excelllent adventure, Real, not unrealistically perfect!
Hey Lance Love the trips and commentary. What are you using to navigate? App, phone ?? Could do a vid on that. I’m not sure what’s best. You look pretty confident with the nav.
Thanks mate. I just pre pic a rough route on google maps and send it as a email to my phone. My back up is a app called Billy Goat. I use the free version, so I can’t nav with it but it shows all the tracks. Very basic and cheap set up. It hasn’t let me down yet.

@Mark Steele. Hahaha mate when I left I thought the exact same thing. But luckily generally finish in great weather. I even check the weather before hand and pick a good slot. Yet it still rains when predicted not to. 🤔 definitely makes for challenging riding.
Massive fan mate, great video. Finally got my first adventure set up going. Wondering what tyres and pressures you are running when off-road with this sort of terrain?
Thanks mate, nice, you’ll love it out there. I always run Dunlop 606’s. But depending on the weight on the bike will determine the tyre pressure. For this trip I ran 15psi rear and 13psi front once off the tar. On road it’s always 18psi rear and front. If I had no weight on the bike I’d run 13 rear and front if in the dirt.
@@davidlamb554 oh shit yeah. Mine came with them from the shop and I always leave them inserted. If you run to much PSI you’ll have a rough, bumpy little traction kind of a ride in the dirt. The road pressures of 18psi are factory recommendations for tar riding. I know it seems low but trust me that’s what all riders do on the smaller adventure bike.
nice vid 🙌 don't you need to be on the opposite side of the bike when you do those push jobs across the rivers in case the current is too strong you can hold the bike with your body?
@Oli M, yeah I wanted to but I push harder with the closest handle bar and I have had it before where I can’t control the accelerator when close to the body. Or I’ve just got no idea 😂
I remember walking up billy goats 10 years ago lance with a couple of mates, it was harsh as back then looks a bit better now mate the video really doesn’t show how steep it is, was hard to walk up let alone ride up. Gotta get my ass out there again its awesome country
@Ryan DRZ400e thanks mate. Still pretty low. Just over 20000. I haven’t ridden at all for so long. But let me tell you, there all rough tough hardcore kilometres. So triple it lol.
@Dirt Cop Dual Sport, she was a tough hill climb in those conditions. It would of been quite interesting lining up a few types of bikes with everyday riders on them and see which bikes went well verse not so well.
@Localsocietymember, mate for this sort of riding I was getting around 350km to 20L which is not good compared to what I’m use to which is 400km to 20L. I think the altitude didn’t help. Quite often over 5000 feet and the bike not running the best as a result.
@2WheelsInMotion, mate after my day in Dargo which part 2 will highlight I would of needed more then a beer. More like a bottle of bourbon lol. One stressful full on day in the end.

@Felix Reed, I use a GoPro 9 with a Rode Lavalier Omni directional microphone. When it works it’s great. But there is heaps of footage after the fact where the audio just doesn’t work. I think that’s more the GoPros fault though.
@@The_Apprentice_Adventurer is there a sound different between connecting the lavalier directly into the Gopro or using using the wireless go transmitter?
@@felixreed5381 the Rode Wireless you can see on my handle bars is useless on the Moto. I used 3 clips from that camera setup due to poor audio. My GoPro has the Media Mod where the mic plugs straight into it and then the mic piece is next to my cheek helmet pad.
Yeah I have noticed on my home TV my videos aren’t the best yet at a mates house their clear as. It could also be the editing program I use. Unfortunately though I’m not to up to date with all the IT stuff in order to look into it. Any advice?

If you run to much PSI you’ll have a rough, bumpy little traction kind of a ride in the dirt.
The road pressures of 18psi are factory recommendations for tar riding.
I know it seems low but trust me that’s what all riders do on the smaller adventure bike.

don't you need to be on the opposite side of the bike when you do those push jobs across the rivers in case the current is too strong you can hold the bike with your body?
@Oli M, yeah I wanted to but I push harder with the closest handle bar and I have had it before where I can’t control the accelerator when close to the body. Or I’ve just got no idea 😂
I remember walking up billy goats 10 years ago lance with a couple of mates, it was harsh as back then looks a bit better now mate the video really doesn’t show how steep it is, was hard to walk up let alone ride up. Gotta get my ass out there again its awesome country

@Ryan DRZ400e thanks mate. Still pretty low. Just over 20000. I haven’t ridden at all for so long. But let me tell you, there all rough tough hardcore kilometres. So triple it lol.
I'm positive my TW would have bogged down on that hill at around 30 minutes
@Dirt Cop Dual Sport, she was a tough hill climb in those conditions. It would of been quite interesting lining up a few types of bikes with everyday riders on them and see which bikes went well verse not so well.

what's the fuel economy? kms from full tank? kms on reserve great to see more adventure looking forward to part 2
@Localsocietymember, mate for this sort of riding I was getting around 350km to 20L which is not good compared to what I’m use to which is 400km to 20L. I think the altitude didn’t help. Quite often over 5000 feet and the bike not running the best as a result.

@Felix Reed, I use a GoPro 9 with a Rode Lavalier Omni directional microphone. When it works it’s great. But there is heaps of footage after the fact where the audio just doesn’t work. I think that’s more the GoPros fault though.
@@The_Apprentice_Adventurer is there a sound different between connecting the lavalier directly into the Gopro or using using the wireless go transmitter?
@@felixreed5381 the Rode Wireless you can see on my handle bars is useless on the Moto. I used 3 clips from that camera setup due to poor audio. My GoPro has the Media Mod where the mic plugs straight into it and then the mic piece is next to my cheek helmet pad.

@Robert Heckenberg, mate for this trip I had a 15-44 which allows for good highway speeds. Bit of a let down in the dirt though.

Yeah I have noticed on my home TV my videos aren’t the best yet at a mates house their clear as.
It could also be the editing program I use. Unfortunately though I’m not to up to date with all the IT stuff in order to look into it.
