Dutch and Belgian politics differ a lot. Belgium is used to compromise with Flanders and Wallonia, they are often hesitant if they disagree with something. Dutch politics is known for being straightforward, sometimes to the point of rudeness. they are pragmatic and not so patient with "evasive or denying behavior". You often see this in the country. Flanders is more conservative, so that the old cities remain in glory. ..but also a lot of decay takes place in the suburbs. this does not only concern the buildings, but mainly the roads and social facilities. The Dutch complain a lot. Because they are spoiled by the well organized political system. In the Netherlands, jokes are often made about the Flemish roads, while in Flanders there is a lot of laughter about the "agreedness" of the Dutchman.
As for Germany. The Netherlands is Germany's biggest economic ally. The Netherlands is generally more critical of EU policy. He saw Great Britain as a major ally.

The way you put it it seemed like a Romania x Moldova unification is extremely unlikely but out of all possible unions you mentioned this is kind of the most likely. The population is more and more open to unification with each new pool and culturally, historically and ethnically the two countries are the same. Also, the Languages aren't similar but identical. American English and British English are just as 'different' as Romanian and Moldovan. I did enjoy the video but needed to point these out. :)
It would be easier to do, but it is not likelier. Young Moldovans saw union with Romania as a way to become EU citizens and go work in the West. That was the main pull factor. But then in the early 2000s Romania started handing out its citizenship to all willing Moldovans. So the pressure to unite is no longer there. Most of the old Moldovans dream about the USSR, and the young ones were able to leave the country and follow their dreams abroad without first pushing hard for union.
@@roromil2441 To this day is still more likely. The percentage of Moldovans in favour of a union is growing with each poll and Romania is still the more Westwenized country.

@@mikehoot3978 damn you're really dumber than I thought. Yes, Latin America has the same religion and language as Spain, plus some customs inspired as well, but why is that? Because they were colonized!! Have you ever heard about Dacia? Not the car brand, but the historical region in Europe from the ancient times. You know what region was part of it? 90% of historical Moldavia and the rest of present day Romania. So it's only right they united, right? At least that's what MOLDOVA thought, that's why they sent the union proposal to Wallachia back in the 19th century and that's how Romania was formed. I'd say you're the one who needs to learn some history, I'm pretty sure you know nothing about Romania's past, yet here you are, commenting without having any idea of what you are talking about. And by the way, what nationalism? There's nothing nationalist about it, it's the desire of the romanians to unite with their fellow countrymen, a sentiment that is starting to grow on the other side of the Prut each year, so you can expect it to happen in about 30 years. And Romania still wouldn't be considered big for European standards, it'd be like half the size of Spain, and wayyyy smaller than its neighbor, Ukraine, which is the 2nd largest country in the continent. So, once again, you need to investigate a little bit more 😉.

Romania+Moldova is the most likely union in this list, sice there are no national, cultural, linguistic or international differences/oppositions. The language is not similar, is IDENTICAL (just with different accents). In both Romania and Moldova it's generaly seen as only a matter of time, international political context (EU) and, maybe, some economical context (as neither can afford the cost of unification at the moment). And we both see it and speak about it as RE-unification.
During the short period Moldova was part of Romania, and during contemporary interactions, Moldovans have felt that Romanians look down upon them. Nowadays, when Moldovans visit Romania, they prefer to speak Russian amongst themselves, in order to avoid condescending remarks about their dialect. Similar is the case of Bulgaria and North Macedonia. There, too, they share history and language, and the old capital of Bulgaria (Ohrid) is nowadays in North Macedonia, but the two times when Bulgarians entered the territory of North Macedonia, they were first received as liberators but the humiliating attitudes of the Bulgarians changed that very soon. In reality, when you separate a nation long enough, it is extremely difficult to re-unite them again...
As an Irish person. Reunification of some kind is almost a certainty. But it needs to happen organically. The GFA is a way for that to happen. There are a lot of institutional and economic reasons to not reunify. One big issue i can see is the change in governmental oversight and benefits. There’s a joke that “no catholic wants reunification. For three reasons. 1. NHS. 2. BBC. 3. DLA”. Those are all things the UK objectively does better than we do.

And for the poorer French-speaking regions of Belgium, there is just that incentive. Only Luxembourg would have a reason not to unite because they would lose their tax-haven status. The Benelux is no longer in the 16th century. And neither is it Eastern Europe. Priorities and obstacles to unification have shifted from language and ethnicity to financial and logistical.

I am from Northern Ireland and I don't want a referendum on Irish unity yet, although during Brexit I voted to remain in the EU as did more people from Northern Ireland than who voted leave and some have used Brexit as an excuse to call for a referendum since Ireland is in the EU and we won't be. However I find that isn't the right time since we haven't been out of the EU long enough to know how that changes things. However, I personally see myself as "Northern Irish" which is that although we have similarities to the republic of Ireland, we are distinct in different ways, and we have differences that separate us from mainland Britain also. I live on the east coast which unless you live closer to the south east, is closer in distance to Scotland than it is to the boarder with the Republic of Ireland and for various reasons, I often feel more of a connection to Scotland than I do the rest of Ireland. I could be wrong on this, but I have found that its often people who live in and around boarder areas that want a boarder poll for a referendum more. If a referendum was to be held, all the main differences in things like the economy, politics, services etc... there would need to be a plan to sort them out first and with anyone calling for a referendum, I haven't yet heard anyone say how those differences be sorted. Anyway I think there has to be a high majority of people in Northern Ireland that would have to vote yes to reunification as some have said if the vote is 51% or higher to unite, then that should be a reason to unite, but that is too close if its only just over half the population as that isn't the vast majority of people wanting it.

Regarding the closeness of Estonia and Latvia🇪🇪🇱🇻: There were different tribes and people living in today's area of Latvia. Latgalians, Selonians, Semigallians, Curonians (all four Indo-European Baltic tribes) and Livonians (Uralic Balto-Finnic tribe). More than 1/3 of this area was inhabited by Livonians. These people never really "died" away all together or something. Instead all of the five mentioned tribes melted together while (even nowadays) shifting their language to Latvian making up the modern people of the Latvians and leaving behind tons of Finnic features in the Latvian culture and language (both vocabulary- and especially pronunciation-wise). Today approximately 30 and up to 50% of all Latvians have Livonian descent. That is the reason why the genetically closest relatives of Latvians aren't only Lithuanians but Estonians as well. That's why I (as a Latvian) think Latvians are somewhat and should bee seen as a Baltic-Balto-Finnic nation/ethnicity. I hope we as a nation will revive this beautiful language and thereby enrich our outstanding culture even more and finally get closer to our forgotten Uralic/Finnic brothers of Estonia and Finland.

Nice video... A friendly remark though. Cyprus (a historically Greek island) is internationally recognized as only one country island. There is only one country on the island, the Republic of Cyprus. Half of the island of Cyprus is occupied by Turkey following an invasion in 1974 so, "Union", "Unification", "United" are not the correct terms. Freedom or Liberation would have been more appropriate terms.

Nah, Norway is pretty anti-EU and they view the Swedes as kinda wacky left-wing nutjobs. They don't want all the immigrants Sweden keeps letting in either
If Sweden and Norway go together, Denmark would also have to join But for Norway, the Swedes would dominate too much so a union with Denmark would be more likely, you know Denmark and Norway were united until Sweden took Norway by force, and the Norwegians themselves didn't want the union with Sweden, and voted to leave it in 1905.
@@ixyyearis5099 No, Denmark and Norway would never unite, what would be the benefits of that? And you know, Norway didn't want to be united with Denmark. The bit that is currently the Republic of Moldova is only part of the medieval principality of Moldova. The region is known as Bessarabia, a name given by the Russians. It was in the Russian empire from 1812 until 1918, then in Romania from 1918 until 1944 (not 47). Russian influence is quite high because it was in the USSR, though it's losing out over time.

Spain and Latinamerica(also called Hispanicamerica) don't have anything to do with each other???? hahahaha
They were literally their colonies for 350 years. They have their language, their religion and their culture. Nothing! xD
Romania in Europe isn't a small country. For me it would be ideal if the big countries were divided. Europe was much better divided like that. Big unifications led to nationalism and finally to 2 world wars.
But it seems that history isn't your thing. I'm sure you are a Romanian nationalist.
@@mikehoot3978 damn you're really dumber than I thought. Yes, Latin America has the same religion and language as Spain, plus some customs inspired as well, but why is that? Because they were colonized!! Moldova wasn't colonized nor conquered by Romania (because it didn't exist until 19th century, there were two principalities, Wallachia and Moldavia) , yet they have the same language, same traditions, beliefs and history!
@@mikehoot3978 By far most romanians want unification, over 70% and In Moldova the numbers is almost at 40%, compare that to 1992 when it was lower than 10%.

Not even that. Despite speaking the same languege as us and having the same culture, many Moldavians are still indoctrinated with the Soviet propaganda wich claims the Romanians occupied Moldova and the Moldavians are a separate ethnic group. Union in the following 2 decades is very very unlikely.

Jon that’s the problem with north ireland the people there don’t agree on reunification or staying in the u.k. reason why is it’s cultural is a mix between Irish and english
I'm British and think we should have a referendum on Great Britain's independence from Dal Riata

Regarding the closeness of Estonia and Latvia🇪🇪🇱🇻:
There were different tribes and people living in today's area of Latvia.

A second Swedish-Norwegian union is pretty likely aswell, Sweden gains norwegian oil money and Norway gains economic stability from swedish industry. The also have very simular languages and culture.
Nah, Norway is pretty anti-EU and they view the Swedes as kinda wacky left-wing nutjobs. They don't want all the immigrants Sweden keeps letting in either
If Sweden and Norway go together, Denmark would also have to join
But for Norway, the Swedes would dominate too much so a union with Denmark would be more likely, you know Denmark and Norway were united until Sweden took Norway by force, and the Norwegians themselves didn't want the union with Sweden, and voted to leave it in 1905.
@@ixyyearis5099 No, Denmark and Norway would never unite, what would be the benefits of that? And you know, Norway didn't want to be united with Denmark. During the early 1800s when Sweden took Norway they did not want to keep being danish but gain independence. Learn politics before expressing yourself.
@@keighlancoe5933 Yes the EU is probably the only thing keeping this from happening, sad thing 53% of Swedes wanted to join and 47% of Norwegians. That tiny tiny difference seperated the two states.
@@monstermapping7209 I never said they wanted to be United with Denmark, and even if there are more benefits uniting with Sweden, the Swedes would definitely dominate since they have a much larger population, so if a union happened, the Swedes would likely have all the powers.
I as a dutchman would be down to unite Benelux
Hell, uniting with the flemish would be awesome too

Nice one.

Avery the Cuban-American you are absolutely everywhere... ISP’s videos, these...
Moldovs is a very recent country
They've only been established because the soviet union invaded that territory and thus created a new socialist republic
It is stolen territory from Romania due to the fact that they entered the war under the axis powers and Stalin wanted a buffer zone, but why should someone investigate the history of the states that they are including into a youtube video.
@@adriancatalinmarin8320 im sorry I wrote this before I finished the video
@@DerekIngoe Actually what you wrote was true, I was just referring to the author of the video which I think he has done all of this ignorant mistakes only to get more viewers. As they say, there is no bad publicity :)

Also as others have said, the language is the same, not just similar. Even the Bessarabian accent is very similar to the one found over the border in Romanian Moldova.
What about Greece-Cyprus? Makes more sense than a union with northern Cyprus
That was the original plan, but because cold war politics, they got fucked over and were declared independent instead.
No lmao . Cyprus is Cyprus and Greece is Greece . Cypriots have multiple ethnicities not just Greek . Most of us Cypriots want a united country with our fellow TCs
@@ehebwgusnshsjsns7414 facts. greeks are just bruh cyprus isnt even close with greece.
@@gigasigma8373 i am a GC , and we cannot disregard the fact that the majority or cypriots are indeed greek . This thought does not mean Enosis should happen . We must respect every cypriot's ethnicity . Neither Greece nor turkey should have a say in the Future of cyprus . In the past such a thing as TC and GC wasnt a thing it was created in order to divide the island so it can be governed easier by the British.
@@ehebwgusnshsjsns7414 well also because the TC were greeks but muslims we were all greek untill turkey invaded and brang illegal people onto cyprus
As for Cyprus, there is only one state on the island, the other one is occupied by 40.000 Turkish soldiers
*cough* they're technically a Turkish republic of Cyprus *cough* so there's 2
@Granddad Fleenstone a DMZ doesn't count as any one country but a British controlled base is indeed British therefore there are 3 countries so you are right there
L. Lawliet who cares, Cyprus is a Greek part a british part a Turkish part we all understand this in practice, recognition is a diplomatic tool between states and is irrelevant to the discussion
L. Lawliet imo “technically” is the defacto situation, anything else is a “claim”.
L. Lawliet there is no agreed de jure standard so the only technicality is practicality
13:15 you are so wrong about Cyprus. Idk where you get your sources from but they didn't divide the island because of tensions as you say. Turkish military invaded the island and since then had created a pseudo-country that is not recognized by anyone. Only Turkey has recognized it as a real country. Do a tiny bit of research next time you touch sensitive topics like this. It's really upsetting. Meanwhile the entire country (as a whole) has been recognized by everyone and is part of the EU (technically the greek-cypriot side as it stands)
İt is not a puppet state. Sometimes TRNC don't support Turkey.
TRNC was created because enosis was attempting genocide on the Turks. Turks on the island of Cyprus wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for turkey getting involved. It’s really upsetting to see people think greeks are the ones in the right. Do a bit of research next time
@@kamilhd2280 military junta is to be blamed, that they had the help and support from the U.S.A. I'm not defending the unlawful junta but the democratic people of Cyprus (as a whole greeks & turks) prior to that. I know, and I have read everything according to this issue. As a Greek myself, I can reassure you we all hate what the junta did in Greece (and by extension to Cyprus) during their 7 year control. We put all of the people involved in jail and since then we have a Democracy. That doesn't mean that what Turkey did and CONTINUES doing is lawful or excusable. They jumped on an opportunity that they have long awaited. Unfortunately turk-cypriots were the minority in the country and they wanted more control. It's understandable. But there are ways to make a country work in a multi-cultural level. Countless examples! Everyone knows that before all this, greeks and turks were living together for centuries in peace. I have nothing with any culture/people/nation. It's when bigger powers get involved that everything goes to shit. I am in favor of reuniting the island and figuring out a way of having equality and justice. Turkey is to be blamed for perpetuating this problem for so many decades. This pseudo-country doesn't even have passports. They are trapped in this land, it's completely unthinkable. But I'm curious to hear from you. Are you turk-cypriot or from Turkey?
