These machines were absurdly common in the hundreds of little towns along the coast of Buenos Aires, that crawled with tourists during the summer months. The sound of these machines and their coins falling is probably imprinted on the minds of millions of people all around the world.
True 2P machine strategy: look around for the ones that are super close to falling, spend just enough to get the goodies, find the next one about to fall and repeat. If none are about to fall wait for some chump to spend a bunch of money getting no goodies but bringing them closer to the edge then jump in when they step away to get more tokens. I may have pissed a few people off...
It's funny how both Dan and Ashens has shown up in TomSka skits. Infact, Ashens showed up in the sequel to The Hole "The Orb". UK Tubers sometimes feel like they're well connected with each other.
watch Mark Robers video about arcade machine scams, fascinating stuff, especially when you consider that they can just decide how much the machines will pay out
My god, it's been over a decade, but Nerdcubed has slipped through the cracks and made it back into my recommended. Also the physics to this game are so good but they somehow can't replicate the millions of coins that somehow hang 20cm over the shelf without falling.
I don't know what British coins are made of, but American coins are mostly zinc, which is not magnetic. This is actually exploited by some vending machines, which use a magnet to catch steel coin slugs.
Due to rising metal prices the 1p and 2p changed from bronze to copper-plated steel in 1992, followed by the 5p and 10p going from cupro-nickel to nickel-plated steel in 2011.
@@cool110 Ah, that'd explain it--steel is definitely magnetic. The US minted some steel pennies during WWII, since regular pennies were made of entirely copper alloy rather than copper-plated zinc back then, and copper was getting scarce due to the war; as a result, the 1943 steel pennies are the only regular-issue US coins that can be picked up with a magnet.
You're recent Plays videos have been bringin me back to when i use to rewatch your spore series several times late at night, or when i use to get excited about your newest FTL videos, you're probably the only part of my childhood that hasn't gotten mundane for me, love you Dan! Say it back damn it...
9:50 in the US, these machines are consistently either quarters, or, more likely in modern arcades, tokens that don’t even leave the machine. this often completely ruins the game - instead of getting more coins to use when you knock them off, you get like two worthless tickets.
Who else would watch EVERY SECOND of a video of Dan travelling all the way back to a British Seaside and play the 2p Machines for hours, from opening to closing! A Charity 2p Machine Marathon including a full Tat tour of the prizes on offer!?!?! I'd watch and love the absolute shit out of that video! 😊
I adore this video and I would happily watch an entire series of Dan trying out different 2p machine games. Just Matt maybe get him an auto clicker to stop his hand giving out.
I cant believe you still upload i literally havent watched you in 10 years. i always end up coming back to a video i loved its the gta 4 tsunami thingy i miss being young.
dan holy shit we need so much more of this. We don't know why but this is. So fun? It's like, well, dangling a keychain in front of a baby. We want more of it!
I always won on coin pushers, the key is not to be the person putting the money in, but to be the person who walked past the machine 15 mins later when it finally pays out and the person who put the money in gave up and walked off long ago.
Before I realized arcades are way better when you actually play the games and not just soft gambling, I LOVED the Pac-Man coin pusher called Pac-Man Ball. Both the 2p and 10p versions were EVERYWHERE where I am (I live just a stone's throw from Cleethorpes).
Just watched a video talking about how bad Monopoly Go is for copying Coin Pusher Casino, both being horrible gambling pits that should be shut down. Next day? Dan: GAMBLING!
Aaaaaaaaaa, fun video! c: Your expertise and enthusiasm for coin pushers was fun to see! So many funny moments toooooo, even right at the beginning of the video (0:42), heheh!
You can take a man out of Southend, but you can’t take the Southend out of a man.
if you take the south end of a man out of him, he would probably die...
You can also put a man in a man's Southend, but then the baptists will get mad atcha
@@nathams42hehe😂
hahaha i can't believe someone else thought this
Not for a lack of trying
10:10 I once won a crisp €5 note on one of those 20p machines… best €40 ever spent
We're missing the most satisfying part of the 2p machine which is the sound of a whole stack of coins falling into the collector.
These machines were absurdly common in the hundreds of little towns along the coast of Buenos Aires, that crawled with tourists during the summer months. The sound of these machines and their coins falling is probably imprinted on the minds of millions of people all around the world.
Biggest surprise of this video is definitely Dan being _genuinely_ good at this.
Normally his bravado falls apart, for the sake of comedy.
He's like an xmen with the most pathetic super power and it's glorious
Everyone has something they're weirdly extraordinary at. Dan's is just that he's really good at 2p machines
"Where did my $50 go?"
"In the hole."
**DRAMATIC MUSIC**
Caught me off guard, starting pissing myself at 12 at night
where is your girlfriend…?
@@RightAwayProductions005 She's at work.

I know a lot of people have said this, but I've been watching this channel for over a decade and this genuinely is maybe the best era of this channel.
The best era is actually from 2025 - 2030 but you’re too young to understand it yet

Thank you for the TomSka reference at 17:28
and a proper classic one to boot, recognised it immediately
It's funny how both Dan and Ashens has shown up in TomSka skits. Infact, Ashens showed up in the sequel to The Hole "The Orb". UK Tubers sometimes feel like they're well connected with each other.
My brain literally makes that sound whenever I hear the words "The Hole" so I was so happy to see that stupid little reference
TomSka never heard of him
9:27 excuse me you like trains too
yeah, real stones in glass houses moment, that one
Yeah but consider this; trains are cool.
I like trains
that was probably the joke lol
As a man who used to build these 2p machines. I can promise the arcade are winning a lot more money than the player :)
watch Mark Robers video about arcade machine scams, fascinating stuff, especially when you consider that they can just decide how much the machines will pay out
Yeah, but I just like watching coins fall and shove each other and I will gladly pay to see it
oh we're well aware. but we're paying for the lights and the noise of the falling coins.
@@JBG-AjaxzeMedia Yep I know, I used to test fruit machines too. I worked for Bell Fruit Games a few years ago
absolutely just paying to watch the coin falling into a stack because it brings me more joy than anything else i can pay 2p for

Well, I certainly wasn't expecting to be called out in this video 🤣
I wasn't sold on this 'trickle down economics' thing but having seen a simulation of the physics I'm pretty convinced.
why isnt this video an hour long
I would watch this for hours. Please stream or do more!
as a skegness local, i approve this video
Oh ur from skegness im so sorry that you have ti endure that. Jokes, i love skegness

The machine so beloved they turned it into a gameshow... for some reason.

Coin pushers give me childhood trauma vibes. Mum playing them for ages whilst I stared at the Mortal Kombat 2 arcade machine longingly

I love Keychains! Not minions though, give me Scooby Doo :3
I will forever love my 2p machine Shaggy keyring, with it's misaligned eyes and unpainted back.
I just spent 18 minutes watching a man play a coin drop game...I regret nothing
I would absolutely 100% watch a live stream of this game...idk why. But I would. And I'd be happy.
“i like watching coins go downhill” the politicians watching are in agreement
God forbid Dan ever goes to Japan, he'll never leave the medal games
Dan demonstrating social mobility with 10p coins
The Steam forum for this game is lit right now because the dev told a reviewer to K himself!
Finally, Dan does gambling for 20 minutes
I'm glad you're appearing on my recommended again
Love your content Dan! Been watching for yrs. Glad to see you posting still.
I could watch Dan play this forever
After 2+ years of not watching I’m glad I clicked on this
"my hands crampin" ya no shit, your clicking 3 times for every coin drop
Btw, the dev of this game tells people to kill themselves if they leave a bad review. So yeah.
As an American I feel extremely ripped off, these machines cost 25¢ to imagine I’ve been paying 10x what the English are
Nice Tomska "Hole" reference near the end.
Dan going to weston super mare baffles me, I've been there for for 5 years studying at college and uni and I hate it

it misses the fun of taking stray 2ps out of machines no ones using. but I know id still sink so much time into this

I wasn't expecting the sudden tomska reference
Dan, you should try Kick Bastards. Mirrors edge meets kicking meets bastarding

I get the feeling you like 2p machines, but only a little
17:26 the hole reference
My favourite was the chocolate and tampons machine
Please do start a 2p plays channel I'd watch.
I'll add this to the things to do while waiting for Fallout 4 mods to work again.
I wonder if there's a dev looking at their Steam dashboard now, wondering why there's a sudden uptick in sales.
Yes! Exactly that!
