In 1982, Sharon exploited the attack in Shmuel Argov by the renegade Abu Nidal faction to remake Lebanon to Israel’s liking. He sought, once and for all, to eliminate the PLO from the country and to proceed to bring the Phalangist Christian fascists to power. By installing what would in effect be a pro-Israeli puppet regime, the Israeli defense minister sought to remake the geo-politics of the region to Israel’s liking. Due to the Sabra and Shatilla massacre and assassination of Israel’s designated presidential candidate, Bashir Gemayel, things did not turn out as Sharon had anticipated.
Secret IDF report anticipated the permanent conquest and occupation of territory of its frontline Arab neighbors

Israel created a Terrorist group called the the Front for the Liberation of Lebanon from Foreigners (FLLF) they carried out dozens of attacks on Palestinian civilians. Y net journalist investigated about this but the Israeli Military censored it. [Ariel] Sharon hoped that these operations would provoke Arafat into attacking Israel, which could then respond by invading Lebanon, or at least make the PLO retaliate against the Phalange, whereupon Israel would be able to leap in great force to the defense of the Christians.

I think you need to add context and to preface this video with one about Black September and why Arafat and his army moved to Lebanon in the first place. After the PLO tried to take over Jordan (aided by Syria) in September 1970, Arafat and his whole army were violently expelled from Jordan. Lebanon was too weak politically to refuse, so the PLO set up shop there instead. All of Southern Lebanon was now called Fatah-land, where the PLO created a state-within-a-state to carry out attacks on Israel. These took the form of frequent barrages of Katyusha rockets fired into Israeli cities as well commando raids executed to terrorize Israeli civilians. As the PLO encroached on Christian enclaves in a attempt to take over more of Lebanon, the civil war broke out to counter that activity.

Tell El Zaatar was a large military PLO camp, the main one, and the PLO was trying to link it with other camps in an effort to cut off East Beirut from the Christian areas. The Lebanese Front had no choice but to take Tall El Zaatar or they would have lost control of East Beirut, de facto removing the Christians from the capital. During this battle the Christians lost 800 fighters, to the 3000 Palestinians who were mostly armed militia men. There were civilian casualties sure, but this was no massacre. This was a real strategic victory for the Lebanese Front. Without it, we might not still be in Lebanon today :)

That being said, the civilian casualties in Tall El Zaatar were relatively mild in comparison with other areas. This camp was transformed into a fortress with a complex network of underground tunnels similar to those engineered by the Viet Cong... the battle was very tough with multiple accounts of melee combat... the civilians were allowed to leave the camp safely, but a lot of those who opted to remain were killed, not in a genocidal way, but because it was very hard to know who's entrenched behind a wall or fox hole... etc. In the end, only the dead have seen the end of war...

i'll tell you 2 tales of Lebanese history you probably never heard of
1- during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982, and after the long siege of Beirut and the withdrawal of PLO, the IDF suddenly forced their way into the city and occupied it ........they thought it was safe, but then the people of Beirut, without any organization , killed dozens of soldiers and officers in small personal acts of resistance........2 days later, IDF patrols with loudspeakers began roaming the city, calling out : people of Beirut, we are withdrawing in the morning...please stop shooting !!
it might not sound much, but personally it was the proudest moment of my life
2- in the aftermath of the invasion, the US backed Lebanese president, who was tasked with signing a separate peace treaty with Israel, was facing a revolution.....so the US deployed the 6th fleet on Lebanese shores , and landed marines to support the traitor president and his army against the peoples will.....fast forward a few days, and you have 2 bomb trucks crashing the marines base , killing 241 Americans and 50 French marines....the US withdraws immediately , tail between legs, leaving their traitor allies to their destiny...and they never return
now that's casual history worth mentioning!

As for no.1: it's only your developed Arab imagination. Israel didn't enter Beirut, only few streets in West Beirut. They bombed Beirut in order to kick out the P.L.O. from Beirut. After few days an International force arrived and evacuate them from Lebanon. 11,000 of them.
Almost no killed Israeli soldiers, not Officers and no brave Lebanese organizations and loud speakers. How do I know all of this? Guess....

At 1:00, while this is probably a sound analysis of the PLO guerilla strategy, it completely ignores the fact that Israel had no absolute need to attack at all, and could have simply ended the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and granted the right to return to their homes as part of a negotiation to end the conflict entirely. Had the PLO assembled all of their troops into a conventional military base it would have been leveled immediately by Israeli forces. The fact that the PLO used their only viable military strategy should surprise no-one. Conventional warfare is a luxury of super-powers. The idea that violence was unavoidable or that Israel was somehow forced to attack into civilian areas is just careless and ignores the political agency of the factions involved. Both had options of non-violence and diplomacy and chose not to. The reasoning behind those political decisions would make a much better and more interesting history video instead of just repeating pretext. At 8:00, use of "the Christians" and "the Muslims" are poor generalizations in this context. Throughout the video, conflating political factions with religious groups is again just repeating their own propaganda which is not helpful for meaningful progress or education. At 15:00, you do a good job of separating Syrian pretext from actual goals. More of this would be responsible when discussing other factions' actions.

By Islamists, you seem to mean "Muslim," which is a very different thing. You also conflate "Christian" with "Maronite." These were not at all the same thing. The Maronites were by far the biggest Christian group, and they were very close to the Greek Catholics. Many Orthodox Christians, by contrast, were neutral, or even sided with LNM. The Orthodox SSNP had a militia, which I believe was allied with the LNM. All of that said, you do a very good job on the whole of tracing this bewildering array of groups. 33:54// one exception: if u had used the word "things" in a video with context. then perhaps maybe, just maybe, there might be a few 'things' (when u mentioned the word 'things') as u referred to them as 'things', that may not have been really a 'thing' at all. // i do not recall if or when u may have used the word 'things'. However, if u have or ever plan to (use 'things' as some sort of adjective toward describing an event or a decision made by some person(s)), just be aware of this.
myop a lot of people use the word 'thing'. they say, "the THING is..' and fill in the end of that Match Game sentence
The Thing is a movie, made thrice/three times, by 3 different directors over a span of many decades. // but some folks use the same word with a capital to refer to events and deciding factors within people's heads (upon the when time a decision was made). the thing is the guy was a heavy smoker and when hitler made Chamberlain wait and wait and wait to have a smoke the brit fell to the whims of addiction. / The THING is a movie is my fav retort

Syria interfered after the Lebanese government asked them to enter to protect Lebanese Maronite. The first thing syria did is attack Palestinians and The Lebanese National Movement and killed their leader Kamal jounblat then the Lebanese Maronite flipped sides after Israel entered. So now the others flipped sides too.

Surprisingly there are sections of Tripoli that were untouched.
Seeing the buildings in some streets from possibly the 60s untouched. Unbelievable.
Like frozen in time. No bullet holes or shelling nothing & used for residential & retail.
As if constructed recently but with a retro look.

@@suleyman8696 what year exactly? because what i can see is the foreign powers that invaded lebanon and syria like the ottomans for example put lebanon as the syrian province other and if we wanna go back to the antiquity empires were putting lebanon under syrian administration even though lebanon was phoenicia and mount lebanon who was like semi independent from the ottomans
